Stephen Wolfram of Wolfram Alpha wrote the absolute best post on ChatGPT and Large Language Models.
It took me about two hours to read, but significantly increased my understanding of what's going on under the hood of ChatGPT.
A few of my favorite takeaways (helps my process)

My advice for people over the last ~5 years hasn’t changed
Either DCA $ETH, or quit your job and spend 18 hours a day becoming an expert.
There’s no in between
It’s gotta be cheaper for FTX to post some information (proof of reserves, cold wallets, withdrawal times for people) to dispel rumors vs Alameda market selling SOL to defend FTT
Why aren’t they sharing info to stop the sell off?
Coinbase starting to move off shore is extremely disappointing for the U.S

DCG Situation:

- Genesis can call their $1.675B loan
- Genesis owes $900M to Gemini
DCG Liq
- Grayscale $10B AUM x 2% = $200M x 3x multiple = $600M
- GBTC/ETHE Holdings = 9.7%/3.8% = $629M with discount, $1.17B at Par

Crypto x AI Is Inevitable (Thesis)
When I first tried Midjourney and then ChatGPT, their power initially terrified me. The sheer lack of understanding I had for their capabilities triggered a slight existential crisis. This led me to realize that, while LLMs only currently excel…
ChatGPT is often extrapolated as a path to Terminators
Stephen counters that the magic of LLMs for writing really isn't that hard.
We're not closer to terminators, writing essays just isn't as hard as we think.

Here's my ETH Bull and Bear Case
My ETH bull case
- TradFI bros selling access to the new internet with native yield is easily understood (ETF)
- ETHE arb closing means any buying pressure will move to spot ETH vs ETHE as an asset (if arb closes, ETH ETF is further away)
-…
Think it's now like 5 people left being bullish ETH.
With lots of narratives for 2024 in store (ETF, EIP 4844 (500 tps), Restaking / Offchain DA, new kinds of L2s with 60k+ tps like nil, ETH asset properties etc.).
When we finally get a reversal on ETH should be massive.

I am not an AI researcher but the post made me realize LLM's are nowhere near the AGI or Terminator level AI intelligence some fear
Of course it's on the path, but LLM's are probabilistic models focused on continuing sentences.
They are really good at it, but not AGI (yet)
One of the most counterintuitive takeaways that with Neural Nets it's easier to solve more complicated problems than simpler ones.

His conclusions:
- The neural net architecture may be similar
- Training of LLMs way less efficient vs human brain
- ChatGPT has no loops to go back and recompute data like humans can which severely limits its computational capability

ZK is probably the end-game so here are my unanswered Questions 🪄
(Note I am an entry level ZK researcher)
Segmenting ZK Tech
I think Vitalik's dichotomy (type 1, 2 2.5, 3, 4) is fantastic but I'd rather just think of it as zkEVM, ZkVM and Layer 1 standalone ZK blockchains…
100% disagree
- Remote is the best way to increase your talent pool of potential workers
- People can work when they are most productive while joining important scheduled meetings
- Camaraderie can be built through off-sites
- Full in office staff is an outdated idea
It’s time to admit that Remote Work doesn’t work. WFH Friday is a 4 day work week. Full WFH is a 2 day work week. Every interaction has to be scheduled, which means a lot of information-sharing doesn’t happen. Remote is a great lifestyle, not a way to build a great company.
An interesting side note for the Crypto audience.

Transformers are a breakthrough for LLMs.
An analogy is they allow the model to understand the context of words and the relationship between words that are far apart
Transformers can read all text at once vs one at a time so are much more efficient and scalable

Neutral Nets are similar to a human brain
The brain has 100B neurons and are connected to ~1,000 other Neurons
A neuron pulses depending on what pulses it gets from other Neurons all with their own connections.
This contributes to different weights in the model. Viola!
