Roadside mines are killing civilians. Airstrikes are killing civilians. Suicide attacks & night raids are killing civilians. All sides must stop harming the civilians. All sides must respect principles of distinction, proportionality & precaution.

Heartbreaking carnage in Kabul today. Another attack on a mosque. I remember several of Taliban’s attacks on mosques, including during Ramadhan. The cycle of violence will not break without accountability & Taliban’s words of condemnation are hallow for victims.

Kabul air is not breathable and we all contribute to it in some way. I feel constantly exhausted & low in energy, my son coughs at night & we don’t dare to go out for a walk. What are we doing to the planet?

As an Afghan woman, I don't have that option "to talk about happy things". I have to worry about a looming gender apartheid. “I recently ordered the flogging of a woman inside her home...We lashed her 20 times.”

Taliban. What did you offer Afg when in power? Isolation, poverty, bleak, limited lives under systematic tyranny, a dark future. What have you been offering us in the past 18 years? Senseless murder & destruction, twisting religion to kill innocents. What are your values?

The last few days have been some of the darkest for Afghan women in the last two decades. After banning secondary education for girls, Taliban have now banned women from universities & from working for national & international NGOs, effectively suspending delivery of aid.
