Just before I entered the Michigan state senate in 2019, there were as many senators named “Mike” as there were *total* women senators (4 Mikes/4 women of 38 total senators). Today, we have 15 total women (12 Dem/3 GOP of 38 total senators). Still not gender parity, but progress.

Betsy DeVos chose to kill her own initiative rather than watch it lose at the ballot box. Her initial plan was to bypass voters, using a GOP legislative majority to vote it into law. The Democratic TRIFECTA prevented this from happening. A first big win for public schools!
