I made Top 4 of the Legacy Championship at Eternal Weekend playing Doomsday-less Tempo. I am super happy with how I did this weekend even if I am not a big fan of the current format.
I think this means I top 8d the two biggest paper legacy events of the year in the US
I top 8d with my take on Grixis Tempo Doomsday at Legacy Pit Open. I went 11-1-1 in the Swiss for first seed (matchups below) and the deck felt great all weekend. I died to delver in quarters but I think the deck is super good. I love this deck so so much 😊
I finally picked up my last foil brainstorm at Eternal Weekend. I'm very happy with my pretty blue legacy cards.
Really hyped to 0-2 drop my next legacy local.
I am the fish who acquired most of her duals post 2020. I would prefer the formats gated by the RL to be playable to a wider range of people, and I doubt that OG printings would even lose value. Wotc embracing bling cards and keeping normal printings accessible is good actually
If you think it makes you smart to play a deck without free wins and everyone else who plays a deck with free wins is a moron I have some bad news for you

I wrote my definitive guide to my version of Tempo Doomsday that I top 8'd the Legacy Pit with. Its so long they had to split it into two parts! I hope that this guide can help others pick up the deck. Good luck :)
White initiative players are not mulliganing enough and I think it's obscuring the power level of the deck. Every time my opponent kept 7 and didn't do anything of note for 2 turns I breathed a sigh of relief
Declaring free Agency for NRG St Louis as a legacy player, my credentials are attached. I need Legacy to carry me to an RC invite so I am very motivated. I have good vibes and I think I am a fun teammate as well 😎
7-1 on day 1 of legacy pit. The deck was so smooth all day. I think I misplayed in g3 of my loss and got punished. Feels good to have my first day 2 of a major event with a deck that I love
Playing high level magic is hard. Playing for high stakes is hard. Playing on coverage is hard.
I rewatched some of EW coverage and playing well even on coverage is something I really want to work on. It's really easy to make mistakes when the pressure sets in
As a Tempo expert the definition of tempo is You may return an Island you control to its owner's hand rather than pay this spell's mana cost.
Counter target spell unless its controller pays 1.
Cards printed in a language I cannot read are unfun in a tournament experience as they slow down the game as I have to recall information or look up the oracle text and can cause confusion/misplays as magic is about keeping a clean board state. This is unfixable and that's okay
The problem with modern hatebears is that they are not symmetrical. Lavinia should be symmetrial, she should hate all free spells. Your Bowmasters should trigger for your opponent when you draw extra cards. We should be hating everyone equally
I'm willing to be the Joker of the mtg community but specifically over the fact that everyone calls their deck a tempo deck such that the word tempo has lost all meaning
I have started writing again...it will be out soon on , and I will also join
@depths_podcast
to talk about tempo in
#MTGLegacy
and how Sphere Lands is a tempo deck. Here is a little sneak peak.
Legacy and Vintage are Mickey Mouse formats anyway why wouldn't I want more people to enjoy them? They are the "competitive" formats that are for "casuals" at this point. As someone with an "expensive" deck, I love to proxy other decks so I can play different decks
Magic is a game that should be able to be enjoyed by all, however, formats such as Legacy & Vintage are not. These expensive formats are for true veterans who have cultivated a collection & have years of experience. I love to drive, but I have no business driving a NASCAR 2/2
Keeping everything I wrote about DDay yesterday, I whipped up this list! There are more bad cards in this deck than I normally like, but everything else is great. Note if you put Vial as the first card in the pile, you can put an uncounterable Thoracle into play!
I ended 9-1-1 with 1 round left and my carmate was 10-1 so he scooped me in to top8 of legacy pit open 2.
@StaticGripped
is fantastic and the best taxes player in the world he killed it. The car is goated
I'm having such a blast paying paper magic lately. Win or lose I've been super happy. I think it's been contributing to playing well and results as well. Since April (my first ever top8) I have a 70% win rate in legacy paper events and I'm super proud of that
My Minor in College is Chinese. I am not very good at it but it is something I continue to work on. I find it incredibly interesting that people automatically assume I am an uneducated hick because I am a Midwest White Girl
Made my first ever top 8 in

@TideTCG
"reading the card explains the card" but if you can't read the card it's much more difficult to play the game. This is not about English vs non-english, it is about cards you can read vs cards you can't read
I asked Zack to alter them however he wanted as long as each represented one of the four elements. I am beyond stoked with how they turned out. They are absolutely beautiful and I am so excited at the chance to cast them in paper
I am going to start streaming my Eternal Weekend prep tomorrow around 9/930 PM EST. I haven't had a lot of time to look at new Legacy but I plan on starting with a small tweak to my Legacy Pit list as I think the main deck is still the correct place to be
idk if Bowmasters is banworthy or whatever but I am pretty tired of Blue Bowmaster mirrors even if they are fun and compelling gameplay to a lot of people
If people are interested in NBC Doomsday, I have a list of general thoughts that I think may be helpful. Keep in mind that I think the most important thing is that the deck is incredibly customizable to playstyle and you should play it how you want to. Here is my current list:
I am very likely to be playing the ponder in my blue decks because the flex is pretty amazing.
I am super pleased with my year. I think I've continued to make big strides in my game and I have so many people who have helped me get there and I'm so thankful for all of them.
@CainRianhard
I'm not yucking your yum but as someone who has a terrible memory and doesn't know a deep card pool it can be very difficult to play against where I feel at a disadvantage
Unhappy with no bans in Legacy? I hear rumors of a complete deck guide to the deck with all the most hated cards in it is coming out today. Feel free to join in on trying to get Expressive Iteration and Murktide Regent banned 👀
I wanted to put bold color in my hair for a long time but was worried about work professionalism or something but finally did it anyway and I love how it looks
Legacy players we should be in favor of this because then they will actually add the Commander cards to MTGO, and Legacy can be a complete online format
My sense of humor is very "set-up" based. I don't like to my jokes obvious, I like when people think and get the joke. Irl people misunderstand sometimes and don't realize I am making a joke and like to connect the dots and restate the joke. I think this is even worse on twitter
I think in the unban announcement they should print doomsday into modern like they wanted. I don't think it would be good but it would create interesting deck building opportunities. This is my toxic take for the B&R discussion, everyone gets one as a treat
Predict sucks in legacy no one play it and you should probably not buy them. And especially sell them if you have them, particularly if you have foil odyssey Predicts
Gonna play Baleful Breakfast on stream tonight. List courtesy of
@maxtortion
based on
@FrancisCowper
's list with Baleful Strix. I am addicted to the Strix.
Work sucked so probably gonna demolish a whole pizza while streaming if you are into that.
This podcast was an incredibly important listen for any legacy players. I think this amount of transparency is all I ever wanted. I think
@GavinVerhey
did a great job of being open and honest about the format and I am much more hopeful that things get better
I started playing legacy at the start of the pandemic because I fell in love with Grixis Control because of
@ReidDuke
. It was very awesome to see him playing the event and I hope to be as good at magic and as gracious one day
What if Dark Ritual was the best card in Tempo Doomsday? I don't know if this is good or not but I am going to try it, seems good when Snuff Out and Pyroblast are everywhere? Unsure how this beats Bowmasters but we ball
This is what I played at bcdl to a 3-3 finish. I lost all 6 die rolls. I would make the jitte a 4th plow, but I like the deck a lot, and I think 21 lands is the minimum for breakfast

Trophied with my adapted light red splash Tempo Doomsday. I think Red gives a lot of powerful sideboard cards that are really worth playing even if the mana is slightly worse. I'm not sure I would want to play an event without 2x Meltdown, Painter is scary
