As a result of our courage and persistence over the last 2 years, SBWU & Starbucks are in talks to build a foundational framework toward contract bargaining and organizing🎉
Leaflets about this giant step forward are now being posted in union-certified stores across the country!
Today, the U.S. reached an important milestone when the Respect for Marriage Act was signed into law. As a company, we’ve supported our LGBTQIA2+ partners and communities for more than 30 years, and we’ll continue to do so.
Starbucks has taken their union busting campaign to a new level for the next 3 Buffalo stores preparing for a union election. They changed their strategy from playing the ‘nice guy’ to waging psychological warfare on partners. Here’s what’s going on at the Depew location:
Starbucks workers are DOUBLING DOWN.
Starting today, over 1,000 baristas are walking out on a THREE DAY STRIKE, making this the longest collective action of our campaign yet.
#DoubleDownStrike
Why is the President of Starbucks North America, Rossann Williams, sweeping our floors in Buffalo? Our floors are fine -- clean up your anti-union campaign.
BREAKING: Workers at the Chicago Roastery, the biggest Starbucks in the WORLD, just filed for a union election. When they win, every Starbucks Roastery in North America will be union.
For the last two weeks, Starbucks workers have taken to social media to report that the company is no longer allowing Pride decorations in-store. This seems to be the first year the publicly "pro-LGBTQ+" company has taken this kind of stance.
At today's town hall in Seattle, Howard Schultz just said that "there is a group -- an organization -- trying to take our people." Newsflash: Our union isn't trying to take Starbucks' people -- our union *is* Starbucks' people!
BREAKING: Insiders at Starbucks tell us Howard Schultz plans to announce new benefits in an attempt to slow the momentum of our union campaign. We know that this is a response to our efforts, and without a union these benefits can be taken away as easily as they can be granted.
BREAKING: Workers at over 100+
Starbucks stores across the country are striking to demand an end to Starbucks' illegal union-busting campaign. While the company keeps a metaphorical 'empty chair' for us in the boardroom, we're demanding a real seat at the table!
#StarbucksStrike
DID YOU KNOW THAT STARBUCKS TRIED TO FIRE ALL OF THESE UNION LEADERS IN MEMPHIS TO SCARE AND INTIMIDATE BARISTAS AROUND THE US BUT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WAS LIKE NAH YOU ACTUALLY CANT DO THAT AND NOW STARBUCKS IS BEING FORCED TO REHIRE ALL OF THE WORKERS THEY ILLEGALLY FIRED
Let’s be clear.
1. Starbucks would not have implemented new benefits without the union campaign. PERIOD.
2. Union workers WILL receive these benefits in back pay and workers WILL continue to win additional improvements at the bargaining table.
Workers at the Bloomfield store just won their vote UNANIMOUSLY (20-0), becoming the first store in Pittsburgh to win their union AND the first store in Pennsylvania to win their union!
Starbucks is saying that they can’t give union stores the new benefits they just announced. This is simply false. Our bargaining committees will demand these modest improvements be given immediately to all workers. Union-busting will not work— Starbucks will be a union company!
We’re calling on a boycott of the Depew Starbucks location in Buffalo, NY TODAY and demanding that they reinstate Angel, a union leader that was just fired for sticking up for worker’s rights.
In union stores, where Starbucks claims they are unable to make “unilateral changes” without bargaining, the company took down Pride decorations and flags anyway - ignoring their own anti-union talking point.
This week Howard Schultz returned to Italy to talk about Starbucks and our union campaign before he steps down as CEO. Schultz claims that Starbucks was inspired by the Italian coffeehouse scene, yet this is how ACTUAL coffeehouse workers are responding to his interview —
Taking a cue from Target, who bowed to anti-LGBTQ+ pressure and removed pride merchandise, corporate and district management are taking down the pride decorations that have become an annual tradition in stores.
Two days after CEO Howard Schultz testified before the U.S. Senate on Starbucks’ illegal union-busting campaign, Starbucks fired Lexi Rizzo, a 7-year shift supervisor and the person who first started this campaign and ignited a movement.
🚨🚨🚨 IN A HISTORIC DECISION Administrative Law Judge Michael A. Rosas of the National Labor Relations Board issued his 204 page decision, finding Starbucks violated federal labor law HUNDREDS of times in Buffalo, NY alone.
Starbucks is powered by many queer workers, but management has failed to materially support the LGBTQ+ community. Last October, some workers have reported that their transgender benefit plan changed, causing them to pay out of pocket fees and lose access to certain providers.
Pres. Biden forcing railroad workers to accept a deal they voted down is a betrayal of working class people. Siding with the bosses to deny workers paid sick leave and prevent a strike is not pro-labor.
As a proud pro-labor President, I'm reluctant to override the ratification procedures and views of those who voted against the agreement.
But in this case – where the economic impact of a shutdown would hurt millions – I believe Congress must use its powers to adopt this deal.
Breaking News: Partners WIN labor board decision! Today the NLRB ruled in favor of partners and will allow us to vote store-by-store. With this decision, we will now have the ability to win the first unionized Starbucks in the U.S., ensuring our right to organize.
If Starbucks was a true ally, they would stand up for us, especially during a time when LGBTQ+ people are under attack. A company that cares wouldn’t turn their back on the LGBTQ+ community to protect their already astronomically high profits.
Starbucks has new anti-union flyers up in stores with fake tweets from our account—things we’ve never posted.
Here’s how a keen eye can spot the difference: our tweets are way less boring and get a lot more likes and RTs 🤩
Starbucks is purposefully scheduling pro-union partners at inconsistent hours. They are often scheduled both open & close shifts in the same week. This type of scheduling disrupts our ability to have a regular sleep schedule and hurts our mental health.
This morning, Starbucks announced that CEO Howard Schultz has officially stepped down from his role of CEO - two weeks earlier than his previously announced date.
Michelle Eisen, barista from the first unionized Starbucks store, responds:
In a truly stunning victory, workers in Eugene won their vote unanimously (17-0) and are the first store in Oregon to unionize! This makes the FOURTH store within three days to win their union unanimously.
Partners are speaking loud and clear
@Starbucks
.
Starbucks is slashing our hours nationally for no good reason. As our union campaign has spread, so has Starbucks’ manipulation of our schedules. This underscores more than ever the need for a union, to ensure that we can have a voice in these decisions.
#WhyWeOrganize
A year ago today, a group of working class baristas organized the first unionized Starbucks store in the United States. In the span of one year, we went from ZERO unionized Starbucks stores to 270 and almost 7,000 union workers.

True allyship with the LGBTQ+ community is negotiating a union contract that legally locks-in our benefits, our freedom of expression, and ways to hold management accountable.
This morning, Elmwood partners walked off the job due to unsafe working conditions. They have been pressured to work by Starbucks despite understaffing and health concerns. We believe everyone deserves the right to feel safe at work! Partners will return when it’s safe to do so.
Starbucks corporate is currently firing virtually the entire union leadership in Memphis after they spoke to the media. They are repeating history by retaliating against unionizing workers. The arc of Starbucks' union-busting is long, but it bends toward losing.
Being fired for “policies” that I have never heard of. Never been talked to about before. Never had a write up about and all of a sudden it’s an offense to get fired over! This is an outrage! They are firing the entire committee!
With another UNANIMOUS victory in Salt Lake City, Utah, there are now 195 unionized Starbucks stores in the United States.
Last year at this time, there were 0.
This is a new level of retaliation, and it is unacceptable. This is not how a pro-partner company treats its workers. We treat every corporate person who comes into our stores with respect, and we deserve the same.
We’re ending tonight on a high note with 93 stores across the U.S. filing for union petitions with the Starbucks Workers United movement! Joining us tonight is the second Maryland store & 3 more Massachusetts stores, bringing the total MA stores to 9!
