We are “two generations ago” - the eldest of Gen Alpha will be starting secondary school soon and the first of Gen Beta will be born in about two years. A baby born today will still be in their 70s at the turn of the 22nd century
Interesting shifts shown in this poll - greater support for a rejoin referendum coupled with lower outright opposition to a poll. Brexit poll: Two-thirds of Britons now support future referendum on rejoining the EU - The Independent
@Ben_Everitt
People need homes. We have a huge housing crisis pricing many in this area out of being able to even rent, let alone buy and the solution is to build more homes.
@LeeAndersonMP_
Why ignore the nuance she explained in the article itself. It’s possible to love where you are from but hate the way it is being run. Or be passionate about parts of a country and find other aspects deeply distasteful.
Holding multiple view points, even contradictory viewpoints

Growth for the sake of growth isn’t a good thing. What’s the point on growing companies if the people have no life but work. Better to have less but be happy and have a rounded life.

Somewhere out there exists a GenZ version of Urban Dictionary that they are hiding from us old people. They watched us give away our secrets to the Boomers and now are keeping it to themselves.

People with different opinions to yours are also here to stay and they’ll long campaign to change things - even if it might seem fruitless to you. Opinions are also changing with fewer people than ever saying the monarchy is very important.
It’s been a long three months but we’ve finally picked Theodore up from the hospital to take him home. He’s now 1.87kg - so lots of weight to gain - but he’s looking adorable and it was great to hold him again.

This is a useful tool - I think the only real long term solution is digital fingerprinting of all AI generated content, but that’s a bigger issue. Also - AI can be a useful aid in writing an essay, with pointers and ideas - working like a tutor.
@JeremyVineOn5
No. Nobody should be forced by law to fight or serve if they don't want to. Its ridiculous. National Service is working and paying tax that then goes to support our economy and country. Pay professional soldiers more, offer better support and you'd attract more people.
Nearly seven months between the first and second pictures. Born three months premature at about 2lb. He’s now about 11lb and eating purée - he likes sweet potato and broccoli.
I've had several invites to watch the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) launch - I think the safest place to watch it is from behind the sofa with hands over my eyes.

They have different levels of expertise in different areas. I’d likely trust Elon Musk more on the topic of space, travel and engineering generally over the an immunologist but would trust Anthony Fauci more on medicine - the subject he actually studied.

What about our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren? Isn’t it our duty to make the world and society better for the generation that follows, even if it means struggling ourselves?
All things going to plan my baby will be home on Sunday - when he'll be 11 weeks or 79 days. I've seen my son - who was 12 weeks premature - for fewer than 10 of those 79 days due to Covid restrictions. That includes two hours on Christmas Day. I can't wait to hold him again.

I love my parents but they didn't help me get a job. They had no connections and didn't go to college.
I had a leg up and was fortunate — having been raised in a stable home where my parents could afford to have a computer in the house, I had regular meals etc. But I didn't get

update is impressive. Virtual cards linked to pots, able to add to Apple Pay. Have one for Transport, setup for express travel in Apple Wallet ready for the tube and bus. Also on for subscriptions. Great new addition to an already great app.
What a way to bring some light into 2020. He was due next January but came early. Theodore Elijah Morrison was born at 11:24 this morning weighing just 2lb 1oz and 12 weeks early - but he’s a little fighter and currently breathing for himself.

Since wearing a mask regularly my asthma has improved due to reduced pollution reaching my lungs, I've had far few colds and other bugs - regardless of Covid I will 100% continue wearing a mask well into the future
My wife just took this stunning image of my baby boy. He’s just over 1.6kg and we’re praying, crossing fingers and doing all we can to hope he gains a little bit of weight overnight so he can come home for Christmas Eve.

Or is it about European governments having employment rights that protect employers from being treated as an easily dismissible commodity by US companies? Giving them security and time for transition
Looks like

got hold of Mr Brown's credit card while watching the shopping channel - and found something to carry his marmalade sandwiches in.
Haven’t updated on Theodore in a while as we’ve been working day and night to get him gaining weight. He was only gaining 6g a day, but thanks to a specialist formula, perseverance and time - he averaged 33g a day last week. He now weight 2.67kg. He was 964g at birth.
I officially start my paternity leave today - this is Theodore and he’s eight weeks old (born 12 weeks premature). He finally comes home from hospital this afternoon after being in hospital since he was born.
@RishiSunak
This is nothing but dog whistle politics from a government out of ideas and out of time. An attempt to keep what little support you have from certain groups, while alienating people that could make significant contributions to the economy.
I appear to be in “dads corner”! Four rooms on the ward, all with babies and all with dads in for one night. Mums all coming back tomorrow night. Theodore says Hi!
@tunguz
More than it being a transformative technology - I think it has arrived just when society was ready for it. The amount of data we produce has reached a point where the search tech of two decades ago doesn’t really cut it anymore. We needed a way to cut through the data easily.
@gabrielnocode
Apple won’t even call it AI or shout about what it is. They’ll just launch a series of products powered by the most powerful AI models and never mention artificial intelligence once.
It’ll be about what it does, how you can use it - not the tech underpinning it.
He may not have made it home for Christmas but for the first time since he was born my wife and I have been able to visit Theodore together in SCBU. He’ll be home “any day” but for now we’re enjoying every minute of our two hour slot. Merry Christmas everyone
We wondered whether he would get much use out of the crib when we first got it - then we got him
@home
and put him inside. I think it’s fair to say he’ll be in it for a while
@smorrisonjsy
Interesting to see
#Workfromhome
trending. I don't think the world is going back to the same mass commute and large offices as existed in the past. If someone wants to work from home and can without impacting their own work - they should be allowed to.
I currently have a bad cough, sore throat and the signs of Covid without a positive test (likely mild flu). If I was working in an office I'd be off sick. But
#workingfromhome
means I can work without risking infecting anyone.

@JeremyVineOn5
Why? I just happened to be born in this country - doesn't mean I feel a need to 'belong'. Discipline is another word for control - we should be teaching young people to think creatively, to approach life with caution, love and care - not follow rules set out by overseers.

The solution is to engage in democracy and campaign and protest to change opinions. Society isn’t a solid state never changing thing. It evolves and adapts with time and differing views.
Why is the right wing solution to “leave if you don’t like it”? Acting like things can’t

You can earn more by working. Or live on the basic income. It will be essential once automation takes 60% of jobs - many of which will be office jobs. This creates a “space” for people to innovate, create and drive entrepreneurship.
I know we are all supposed to be eating out to help out but I am still not comfortable sitting in a restaurant even with isolation measures. Much like I still avoid shopping if at all possible.

@alexandr_wang
I think that is a real possibility - I also think Apple will be on the hunt for a dialogue AI startup to boost both Siri and Spotlight - why search if you can get an answer inside iOS itself
Before having a premature baby (born 28 weeks) I had no idea how emotional clothes could make you. This morning he was out in a vest for the first time and I cried. This is a major milestone as it means he is near to coming out of the incubator and into a heated cot.
@Femi_Sorry
@metpoliceuk
I don’t get why the police swear an oath to the king instead of the people. Same for MPs. In a modern democratic society it’s as much of an anachronism as a royal head of state or nobility based upper chamber of Parliament
@timhardinguk
@RepublicStaff
Support for the monarchy in the UK is in decline. Every new survey shows lower levels of support and it’s even less among younger generations.
This was a fun weekend project. Bringing mythological creatures to life with the help of AI. Specifically

for visuals and motion.

They say the premature baby journey is a rollercoaster - and they are right. Three days ago we were sorting his car seat and discussing homecoming. Today Theodore is back on oxygen and under heated lamps with an infection and unlikely to be home for at least a week.
@Jenny_1884
It’s a “universal” income. Everyone will get it regardless of employment status. It would replace all existing benefits and allowances.
So instead of a tax free allowance you’d get a lump sum per month. Instead of benefits or pension, you get a lump sum every month.
@chrisalbon
It is consistently positive. Not sure if it’s an AI thing generally though as even Grammarly tries to get me to re-write certain words or phrases in a more positive style.
Or AI overloads are going to get annoyed if we show signs of being unhappy

An app for the health service that you can use to take the picture, upload it and have it automatically removed once reviewed by the doctor - and never stored in the phone - is a better solution.
We have decided to keep our Christmas decorations up until Theodore comes home from hospital - likely around the second week of January. He was due home before Christmas but infections made it impossible. Well have a second family Christmas when he’s finally home.

No information - just a topic I’ve coveted as a journalist so putting a few pieces together to make a prediction.
In reality it’s likely confirmation of the inflation theory through the discovery of gravitational waves from supermassive black hole mergers in the early universe
@GBNEWS
What about the right of the company to freely spend advertising money where they like? GBNews has no automatic right to advertising revenue and neither should it in a free market economy.
As some asked for an update - we spoke to the consultant and Theodore has an extremely sensitive gut and can’t tolerate any formula or fortifier - the one he was given last contributed towards this new infection. But he’s responding well to antibiotics. He’s still only 1.6kg.
Happy New Year to all. Theodore is ten weeks old this weekend after being born 12 weeks premature. It is amazing how far he’s come in that time. He was 964g at birth and is now 1.7kg. Still tiny but growing. My resolution: get him home from hospital safe and well
@frantzfries
I think we’ll see an announcement about Apple buying a company making a LLM in the near future. Either that or a partnership with big player in the natural language space.
Theodore is now nearly 5 months old and weighs 2.9kg - might not seem like much but for us that’s huge - he was born weighing 964g, we weeks early and has a number of allergies. He has gained 220g the last two weeks! Up from under 100g the weeks before. He’s amazing.
When Theodore was born, three months early, he was 0.9kg, dropping to about 0.65kg in the first week.
Today he had his 9 month check up and is 6.15kg. Still small, but well on his way and growing fast.
@Jenny_1884
We don’t just emit 1%. We outsource our emissions to places like China and India. They do the messy manufacturing in our behalf. We still use the goods they produce and so part of that emission impact is on us as a nation.
The true emission impact can’t be measured

I am going to be a granddad. My daughter is due to have a baby next spring. My wife and I married as teenagers so I’m just grateful she waited until I was in my 40s. Very happy and proud of her and her fiancé. Now to work out what the baby should call me - I think Pops.
I was 19 when my eldest was born (my wife and I married the same year) and I’m now approaching 40. Being awake all night with a baby was much easier at 19 than it is at 39! Back then I’d be be up gaming or coding all night. Now I like to be in bed by 10. He likes my beard.
