Just a small reminder that the best people to ask about the deaf community are deaf people themselves 💕 Please put the spotlight on them, it is a beautiful chance to learn from them 💕💕
Hi everyone, thank you so much for all of your interest in learning BSL. I cannot believe the Google search for learning sign-language has increased by 488% AMAZING 😍 1/2
This is such a huge, important event for the deaf community to get the government to declare BSL as an official language.
It sound so simple but it would do so much goods and change things for better 🤞🏻
Thank you everyone for your kind message about my first dance on Strictly! Your message really motivated me to keep working hard 💕💕 and Keeeeeppp dancing!
BREAKING NEWS!
We are delighted to announce that a registered BSL Interpreter will be provided for every venue and performance of the tour, making this the biggest ever BSL accessible arena tour in the UK.

I’ve come to do The Last Leg, booked weeks ago, not anticipating the saddest and scariest story of our lifetime. Not sure how this will go. But look what magnificent lady is here as well ❤️ 💃🏿
Please look for a course which is taught by deaf tutors. Just be aware that BSL and Makaton are not the same. BSL is the language that deaf people use and Makaton is a communication tool. ❤️❤️❤️ 2/2
Hannah Waddingham doing the sign language made me a bit emotional. She is such precious person. How inclusive and considerate. 🤍

For example, Paramedics having emergency interpreter on iPad ready on call for this situation. And, basic BSL to be able to pick up quickly that this lady was trying to communicate with them (5/6)
I know I’m in it but I would give
@RoseAylingEllis
the glitterball now.
I voted for her last night.
She’s amazing, her foxtrot with
@pernicegiovann1
was magical & she is inspiring people every week.
My family also sat next to hers last night & they are adorable too

3. “Oh, so paramedics must be able to learn to speak in different language now?”
It is BRITISH sign language. Paramedics is already so overwhelmed with the amazing work they do. They should have been given the right tools/support to be able to communicate with this lady. (4/6)
I had the idea of learning enough sign language to do a gig to a deaf audience which lead to this documentary. It became the hardest and most personal piece of television I have ever made. I hope it can help other families facing similar challenges.
Thursday at 9pm on ITV.
2. “Why can they just write it down?”
Imagine going through the most traumatic time of your life, you need someone there you can access to in the full language. Not writing backwards and forward… (3/6)

Please read the full tread because I am not saying that. Here is a quote that I love to explains the difference that BSL not like any other language.
“Hearing people can learn sign language. Deaf people cannot learn to hear.” -L Friedmann
British Sign Language is a step closer to being officially recognised as a language in England.
An estimated 90,000 deaf people in the UK use it as their first language, and now a new law aims to ensure it is used more widely in society.

Have we not learnt anything?? This poster is not very nice and is triggering. We deaf people DO NOT need rehabilitation. I wish people had done their research before creating something like this.
Rishi Sunak would introduce a £10 fine for missed GP and hospital appointments which will impact most vulnerable members of our society… So… THIS!! 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
Just wondering if Deaf people will be able to charge GP surgeries £10 when interpreters aren’t booked, and every time we get called, or sent a letter asking us to call, or when we walk to a surgery to book an appointment because the only other way is to call?

Exactly this! I couldn't words it better. This is why BSL play such an important huge part of my life and given me opportunity. Lipreading is not 100%, BSL is. ❤
