It's alive!
... Relative to non-re-animated Skeletons at least!
You can wishlist My Littlest Skeleton on Steam right NOW.
Which is definitely something you should do.
This is next level. It might not look like much to a layman but what George is doing here is skipping the prompting stage entirely and interfacing directly with the software, cutting out the guesswork and the middleman that you find in traditional generative methodologies.
A bunch of people I know started making games the same time I did.
I first decided to use Gamemaker, and then Unity.
They decided to make their own engines because they're real programmers, I wasn't. As they said.
I'm the only one out of the group still making games.
If I've learnt one thing over the last 5 years:
It's PRACTICALLY FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE to ship a game in any sane amount of time if you write your own engine.
For the love of god, just use Unity/Godot/UE.
Seriously though, honest to heck serious question.
How DO mini maps work in games? What's the secret?
How do maps work? How do they know where you are and put that on an image.
It's the one thing in gamedev that still baffles me 7 years in.
Someone smart tell me.
@snakebyte85
Lol.
I already know how to do stuff like GOAP, Behaviour Trees, Networking, A*, Dijkstra's Node Traversal, Cycle Detection.
Sometimes you just struggle with things other people don't.
Maybe you should ask about not being a total dick.
If you want to follow along with my own journey of using revolutionary manual generative art tools to make a video game, i've just started a new project in Unreal I'm tweeting a lot of WIP updates for.
Gimme a follow, let's be friends.
@merlino_games
Thinking back with hindsight makes me wish TPP was instead a bunch of tightly designed maps like the one in GZ, rather than a fully open world.
Kinda like the Hitman games.
@tgoddessofbread
It's true. I always wondered if there was an easier way.
I set up a massive photogrammetry rig in my basement with a couple hundred DSLR camera so I could capture a box of cornflakes but George's method seems way easier.
As Halloween approaches, consider giving Fiddler's Wood a go.
A lo-fi horror game about being lost deep in the wildwood said to be the home of many fairies.
Available now on Itch!

How chill are your bones? Not this chill I bet.
My Littlest Skeleton is a cosy relaxing simulation where you care for your very own little Skeleton chum.
Coming in 2023.
@joewintergreen
I see they're from the "Oh haha no see, you're just confused. What I actually meant was some other third thing that won't make you angry." School of public relations.
@A_B_Allen
In a world designed explicitly around people turning themselves into products the concept of selling out still existing, let alone being a negative trait, is just implausible.
It's the intentional end goal of the system we live in.
Realism is at the forefront of all Pixelbark games. Procedural animations are a really effective tool for achieving the most realistic Skeleton locomotion gaming has seen.
Check this out and more in this month's My Littlest Skeleton Development update:
I've been playing a lot of Final Fantasy. Also been getting back into the LoFi PSX aesthetic of late.
So I modelled a Vivi from Final Fantasy 9, the best one, for your trouble.
Also, it's FFXIV Anniversary so I should mention that too for SEO.
21 Years Ago tomorrow.
My mom always used to sit with me and watch me play PS1 games when I was little. She would scrimp and save to buy me them after Dad died so I had a way to escape, if just for a while.
and she helped me navigate the world, besides.
I miss you.
I learned a lot today!
- There are a billion ways to make a mini-map
- Because I understand how to do other things in game development it is inconceivable that I could be so foolish as to not understand how to do those
I'm gonna eat pizza and then fight with Unreal some more
Since this is somewhat popping off to the point weird dudes are yelling at me, give me a follow and we can be best friends. I talk about all the dev I do in an engine I didn't make (Unreal atm)
Also I'm making a cosy virtual Skeleton pet game on Steam:
Gamedev be like
"ahh *big stretch* what a productive week it has been! I've managed to do about 5 or 6 hours of game dev every day this week!"
"What did you achieve, Amy?"
"Postbun can now blink and look to the left."
You can customise your Skeleton's Name, Pronouns and Bone Colour.
Pretty excited about this! Took a bit to get the custom pronouns working correctly but I think it was worth it!
Thanks to my trans and nonbinary pals for checking this over for me!

One day I'm going to make a game that looks like a living breathing Beksiński painting and you can't stop me.
The only thing that can stop me is my total lack of artistic aptitude.
Skeletons arms use IK now so I can leverage procedural animation more when it comes to interacting with things (I hope) but the first step was maintaining the floppability
Keep making your games friendos, its good for the medium.
Not everything in your life has to be done with a profit motive, hell I don't even think Im going to be releasing Postbun on Steam for money.
I'll eat the £100 fee and hope to continue building a community with it.
Y'know, a while back I was making a little playable low-fi psx rendition of The Shining: The Video Game, it was a lot of fun but it was lost in the great PC explosion of 2020 so, I never did finish it.
Just found the video though!

I recommend Super Lone Survivor if you're a fan of horror games, especially of the old school survival kind.
If youre coming off of SIGNALIS and want more like it then this will scratch that itch! We need more games like these.
Watch the first hour here:
Video games peaked in the PS2 era. With very few exceptions they have barely changed since then. You are still essentially playing Resi 4 and DMC3 only with an astronomically higher human cost to make them.
Since you're here I have a minimap-less game I'm working on called My Littlest Skeleton, a cosy game where you care for a bunch of lil' Skeleton chums.
You can wishlist it on Steam.

A guy I was really close with cut me out of his life, out of the blue, for seemingly no reason whatsoever. I was really hurt by it.
His dream was always to make games and make loads of friends and get popular online doing it.
I decided to beat him to his dream out of spite.
@horrorvisuals
If you're looking for something spooky and cosy then I'm working on a Tamagochi-em-up where you care for a bunch of little wobbly skeletons!
You can wishlist it on Steam:
Sorry to give away a closely guarded industry secret like this but, adding googly eyes is a subtle yet impactful move. Players might not notice it consciously but they will feel it, it exponentially enhances the tactile thrill of being chased.
Do your arms suck? Mine always have. They've always sucked so bad.
Well now, we can both suck a little less.
It took me far too long to learn this so I figured I'd share it in case it's taking far too long for you to learn it too.

If I hit 100k followers before Christmas I will add some of the wildest sex you have ever seen to My Littlest Skeleton.
I mean absolutely maniacal shit. The kind of stuff you wouldn't even believe I have in my mind.
It's true, I am completely powered by sarcasm and spite.
The only reason I became an Indie Dev in the first place was to spite my ex who wanted to do it but never managed to make it stick. He was very mean to me, so I stole his dream.
No amount of these comments and quote tweets will get me or other women to leave the gaming space.
We’re here to stay, and hopefully make it a better place than it was when we entered it.
A whole bunch of people wishlisteded My Littlest Skeleton yesterday and I want to say I really appreciate it 💀❤️
I'm not great at the marketing bits so it's really validating to see people are interested.
Hopefully I'll have some more updates to share with you soon!
@NightCrydeFM
I wouldn't presume, since I don't know you.
But it looks like that's what you've been doing?
Like when I released my games nobody clapped as far as I know, and I've never met Gabe Newell.
But that seems to be the story you want to tell.
@boxcatdev
yup, you can either make games, or make a game engine, they are very different things and you absolutely don't have the time to do both at once
@PixelMetal
@xCrossBite
Yeah a couple people have pointed that out to me now haha
No idea why I thought it would be anymore complex than that
Both very helpful though thanks!
"You can't bring an audience along and show emotion without access to a character's face"
May I present the intro to DOOM 2016. Showing emotion, pure anger and rage, using only a camera pan and his hands
Of course, my most popular tweet ever was a shitpost I did before I fell asleep last night.
Nothing Game Dev related or anything, why would it be?
Anyway, hello new followers!
I am currently working on a 'lil side project while I learn Unreal engine starring Postbun.

I made a low poly PSX version of myself for a Silent Hill video I'm working on here and there
I'm hoping she can gain sentience and replace me entirely over time
Honestly the Muppets are so well done and the magic is so well hidden it never once occurred to me that the mupeteer would have had to be underwater for that scene.
It's just a real singing frog.
Dropped a review on the Super Lone Survivor steam page.
ALWAYS review the games you like! Especially Indy games.
It helps out more than you could imagine!

Weird thread.
Hundreds if not thousands of people do everything right and still fail.
You're just describing making a game here, and trying to pass it off as some next level business genius strategy.
Weird thread.
Eric Barone has made $300M+ (yes, that's not a typo) in revenue in 6 years with 0 employees.
He developed a game that has sold 20M copies to date.
At this rate, he can easily become the first one-person founder to do 1B+ in sales.
Here's how he did it:

Considering I'm a 34 year old cisgendered woman weird little men sure do like making transphobic comments about how I talk. Really telling on themselves about how few women they actually have in their lives.
@headwaregames
When I was little I accidentally stumbled upon the ghost photography easter egg in Metal Gear Solid late at night.
Had no idea it was a thing.
