Man publicly harasses his manager at work (a school), put on paid leave for that during disciplinary process, keeps coming to workplace, gets ordered by a judge not to go to workplace, disobeys judge's order by continuing to trespass wokplace, judge orders arrest.
Irish media:
Twitter laid me off today. If you know of any open positions for project managers or senior software engineers, let me know. I was in charge of the feature that made sure every time you posted about safe routes for kids to cycle to school,a guy would reply not everyone can cycle.
Were you the hero who was cycling on Ballinteer Avenue yesterday evening or know who it was? The mother of the boy whose life you saved would like to get in touch to say thank you.
To the men in the Range Rover who honked at my wife and daughter, shouted they shouldn't be cycling on the road because there was no cycle lane and threatened to report them: you're brave! Would honestly love to see how brave you really are.
Seeing as this is trending, it's worth addressing and I hope you'll join me inso doing.
Romanians are my co-workers, friends, their kids play with mine in school and GAA, they work in shops, hospitals etc. Romanians, Irish-Romanians and Romanian-Irish are welcome here. End of.
Congratulations to the private school in Wicklow having an in-person mass, graduation ceremony and dinner tomorrow night.
To prevent the media using you for clicks, the trick to is to have a large indoor gathering with members of different households *without* renting a marquee.
@StefPreissner
Driving down South William Street is anti-social behaviour. These people are all outdoors, distanced and you have no idea if people close together are from the same household.
They would be able to distance themselves even more if cars weren't allowed to cruise down there.
This is why slip turns are being removed all over the county. Drivers can't be trusted to drive safely so the infrastructure has to adapt to enforce good behaviour.
Right wing reaping last night: haha yes, saving a couple of hundred euro a year in local property tax for property millionaires is our legacy!
Right wing sowing this morning: what's with these reduced council services, guys come on wtf?
"However, she did not mention the introduction of those laws [that criminalise people for not wearing foam helmets] led to a decline in cycling trips of between 30-40% overall and a drop of 80% in school-aged females."
Policy should be evidence-based.
SF closed the 9(!) golf courses in the City & turned them into parks for social distance recreation.
Lovely! Genuinely angry this slice of city is inaccessible to normal people!
The revolution begins when the underclass seizes the means of uh, :checks notes: ...recreation.
There are 100s of times more trees knocked down for motorways or shopping centres than for bus lanes or cycle paths.
Howevr, there are 100s of times the amount of complaints about the latter.
Please just admit it's not actually the trees you care about.
I have some questions:
Should my daughter & her scooter have to share space with this truck?
Will the driver reverse/drive on the footpath?
If so, will the driver see her?
Is she going to hit that pedestrian on her little scooter because the truck created a pinch point?
Just seen this on the Facebook group Cycling Parents in Ireland from a parent looking to make her cycle route to school safer. Love it when a council official takes a request from someone seriously.
I have never said anything like this, nor will I ever say it. It’s never too late to do as much as we can, every fraction of a degree matters. There are of course no magical “dates” for “saving the world”.
I am only quoting the SR1,5 IPCC report on remaining CO2 budgets.
Out cycling yesterday with my little un. Don't feel safe in single file so she always goes on inside, me on the outside.

👏👏👏 for perfect driving
3 generations of O'Connors (that's grandad in the background) cycled from Clonskeagh to Dún Laoghaire this afternoon. Maybe head to Sandycove for a swim now.
Cycling is social. Between Seapoint & Dún L bumped into 5 different friends/family!
One SUV driving from the suburbs into South William Street is worse for the climate than littering the whole street. Hope that helps people grasp the difference.
This MAMIRR didn't even roll down his window to say sorry or check the man on the bike was ok until I demanded he apologise.
We need Ministers to deliver a video portal for all road users to submit evidence by end of this year

Lands are subject to Compulsory Purchase Orders at the drop of the hat for motorways "for the common good", and whether motorways are good is a highly subjective matter in 2022.
CPOing land for a maternity hospital reaches the bar for common good quite comfortably by comparison.
Irish planning:
12 storey, 2km from city, 2 mins walk to shops, schools, green space, right on a greenway:
🚫Refused. Too dense & we lose a fossil fuel shop.
22 storey, on M50 🚗, 15km from city, crap 🚲 infra:
✅ Approved. Cut down a forest & build it.
Your reminder that m/billionaire tax exiles "stuck in Ireland" during lockdown were reassured by the Fine Gael government that they wouldn't have to pay tax on Ireland for going over their max number of days per year.

I walked home tonight because my bike was stolen & Dublin Bus gets caught in traffic. Good head clearer. Found these in the cycle lane and removed them. Before removing them I saw so many people being squeezed by cars, vans etc.
People: don't politely accept this shit.
Interesting move. Portugal have cut the VAT rate on all bicycles from 23% to 6%, thanks to new EU laws.
🇵🇹 are also the 6th largest exporter of bikes in the world (after China, Taiwan, Netherlands, Germany, Cambodia).
The country whose ambassador we allow to live in the Phoenix Park opposite our own President, whose border patrol we allow in our airport, whose military planes we allow to stop here - they're waging war against their own people and nobody in our government has condemned it.
This vehicle has some of the most advanced software any vehicle has ever had.
This week, councillors across Dublin were invited to a presentation of cutting edge technology that will keep little e-scooters off footpaths.
See the issue I have?
With a morning🚴commute of 22 minutes in Dublin, you have a 0.6% chance of being rained on (>1mm rain).
61% of primary school children in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown are driven to school. It ain't the weather.
I'll let you all in on a little secret:
It's quicker for my 7 year old to cycle to these places than it takes to drive. Been the same for years.
The council are proposing to make it safe enough for all families to feel confident enough to choose the quickest way 🚴♀️🚴🚴♂️
The German Automobile Association are funding "studies" to show the dangers (sic) of cargo bikes and pushing it out as PR to compliant journalists.
A sure sign that cargo bikes are really worrying the car industry. Love to see it.
I honestly don't understand why it's possible to cut VAT on staying in a hotel or eating a fancy meal in a restaurant but you still pay 23% VAT on insulation materials, heat pumps and labour.
We should be cutting VAT for all of this and more.
Sure cars are nice on dry days when there's no traffic, but we can't expect everyone to drive to school when it rains.
If only more people owned raincoats.
RTÉ had this on their 1 o clock news and didn't mention:
- 700 people dead in Canada, 150 in US
- mass evacuations
- role of human caused climate change.
They did:
- interview a guy who was happy it wasn't snowing.
- have ads for SUVs
Car marketers ain't stupid. Influencers are chosen carefully.
If you think they're using D*nal Sk*han, BOD, Thomas and Diarmuid Gavin to sell more 4WDs to farmers and builders then I've got a bridging fuel to sell you.
They're explicitly selling them for suburban school runs.

Active School Travel project have been deferred.
Incl projects already started like ⤵️
✅Raised zebra crossing installed on Village Road, Aiken's Village
✅Level crossing so everyone, especially wheelchair users and parents with buggies cross easier
✅slower speeds on a notoriously fast road.
So glad I requested this last year at request of local parents!
Accessibility can be the small things too.

26 Ministers for Agriculture in 70 years: all from Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael.
But yes "Eamon Ryan and the lettuce brigade" are to blame for every long-term problem faced by farmers. How does such unfiltered rubbish get published?

My bicycle has been stolen from Harcourt St. The irony of where I could find the clearest image of it (Nov 18), is not lost on me.
Please help me find it. More reasons why below 👇
This is why we cycle alongside our kids. Sharp blind bend, road narrowing, continuous white line. Still risks the overtake.
You shouldn't need to be brave to cycle with your kids on local roads like these.

Funny thing is, this is a road that I have long thought should be made one way for motor traffic with a 2 way protected cycle lane. Careful what you wish for cagers.
I've a lot of political differences with SF, but the depiction of their leader in the Sindo today is not political satire, it's a mix of misogyny and McCarthyism. When women are at their most successful, the personal attacks always step up a notch.
A Swedish news publication this week: took the "personal action" to stop running advertising for fossil fuel companies and others who enable fossil fuels (e.g. airlines, car manufacturers).
Irish Times: Stop preheating your oven.

How can Blackrock, Monkstown & Dún Laoghaire:
- improve air quality
- revive local business by increasing footfall of loyal locals
- take pressure off DART overcrowding post-lockdown
- let kids learn to cycle without using the footpath
- reduce noise pollution

that there are a limited number of car parking spaces directly at my destination.
If people could go easy on using the word 'discrimination' as a substitute for 'inconvenient' that'd be just fab.

The Reuters fact check is itself insufficient and inaccurate.
The disciplinary process was not started with the teacher refusing to use the child's preferred pronouns. It started after he (allegedly) disrupted a school event and publicly harassed the principal.
"Bringing toddlers to and from creches and doing the weekly shop can’t be done only by bike or bus return journeys"
- a man embarrassingly elected by my fellow UCD grads.
7 years as parents, my wife&I have done creche, school&shopping by foot, bike and bus all over Dublin.
RIP an 80 year old man out in his bike and killed by a car driver. Killing someone with your car should be treated the same as killing someone with any other object but unfortunately, the man's family will probably never get justice.
Dear

,
If saying "wear a helmet" is all you actually do for road safety, it's really putting yourself out there to write a column in a national newspaper accusing others of virtue signalling.
Kind regards,
Someone who campaigns tirelessly for road safety.
