Tax cheats are moving to Puerto Rico. Puerto Ricans are losing their homeland, with housing costs up 600% since Hurricane Maria. Congress can stop this now, by closing the tax loopholes.
#AbolishAct22
Watch our latest video here:
A speculative real estate bubble - caused by Americans moving to Puerto Rico for tax breaks - has increased housing costs 600% in a few short years.
Puerto Ricans are fighting back, as they are in the midst of a displacement crisis. Join us in calling on Congress to…
What does $1200 pay for you in one month? For me? Probably just *some* groceries and basic utilities, including my cell phone bill. Not my rent. Not even close. This is an insult.
Somehow Democrats found themselves LOSING Congressional seats in BLUE STATES in a Presidential year with massive record turnout and an historically unpopular Republican incumbent in office.
This is unheard of.
400+ superdelegates endorsed HRC by July of ‘15-before any debate, primary or caucus,preventing Biden himself from running.
Know facts before going on air to articulate your 0.1% path forward & crapping on the progressive who fought to make this primary open for 17 ppl to run.
On CNN, Amy Klobuchar responding to Rep Clyburn questioning her VP chances bc of her prosecutorial record: “I just can’t do politics right now.”
Poor Amy, it’s just too much for her right now.
Now is NOT the time to discuss Biden’s sexual assault allegations... but it’s MOST IMPORTANT that we obsess over a popular podcaster’s personal politics.
Imagine a debate where the moderators asked:
“What percentage of your money came from Wall Street?”
“How much is your average donation?”
“Have you ever taken oil, insurance, charter school money?”
“What do you think about unions?”
“What should the minimum wage be today?”
Polls today show that Bernie is the only progressive who beats Trump & who doesn’t bleed votes to Trump in a head-to-head. With 19 days until Iowa, it’s crunch time. Do Democrats want to win?
Don’t want 4 more years of Trump? Stop spoiling the election.
BREAKING: The deal is dead. We killed the Amazon deal.
NYC is NOT a city where we reward and welcome exploitative companies who hand out candy but wreck communities. Amazon has always been a company that disrespects workers and small biz.
Congrats organizers. This is YOUR win.
Seriously I hope the
#yanggang
pushes
@AndrewYang
to endorse Bernie. The stakes are too high. Polls too close. We have a shot with a progressive to win.
I think that’s the point. Bernie is the candidate who can win back the Trump voters who are disenchanted with the Democratic establishment. Do you guys get how politics works?
Joe Rogan--who supported Bernie--on his podcast yesterday w/ managing director of Thiel Capital Eric Weinstein.
"I’d rather vote for Trump than [Biden]. I don’t think he can handle anything. You’re relying entirely on his cabinet."
1.3 million views on YouTube since yesterday
Warren’s political leverage in this race expires after Tuesday. If she endorsed Bernie, she keeps that leverage no matter who wins. If you’re an advisor to Warren and you’re reading this: that means you keep YOUR leverage, too.
Let’s debunk the false talking points. As a member of the 21 person commission that set forth reforms for all primaries & caucuses, EVERYONE pushed for more oversight of voting.
But you know what wasn’t unanimous? Budgetary oversight. Like how app contracts were awarded. 1/
There’s no such thing as “far right populist.”
That’s fascism.
When the worst form of greedy capitalists use race and economic insecurity to gain votes for the 1%.
Fascism.
Fascism.
Fascism.
Say it.
Joe Biden does have a long record as my pal
@hilaryr
says - In being the architect of the Crime bill, supporting the welfare reform bill, discriminatory housing and credit laws, being for the same charter schools the NAACP is against. That’s Profit first Biden.
Shall I continue?
Centrists: “We need to appeal to Republicans to win.”
Also centrists: “Bernie is the devil incarnate for attracting disaffected Republicans and Independents.”
Call me crazy but the extremely online petty centrists are showing their privilege right now by manufacturing twitter fights with activists rather than acting like humans in caring about the national health crisis and the soon to be Great Deprrssion era level unemployment.
1. DNC members didn’t vote on this, or any of the debate rules.
2. Every candidate and every donor who gave to that candidate who played by the rules (to date) should voice outrage at Tom Perez.
3. Perez will never be Governor of MD by doing this
Congratulations Michael Bloomberg, you just illustrated that you can’t take the heat. I’m sure Trump is salivating picking on you, or any democratic candidate who complains about being called out for their crappy records that hurt working people.
I’m sorry to break this shocking news to the movement, but there are some very unsavory people getting paid to tank the working class movement in this country. And they’ll stop at nothing. And may be closer to you than you think.
Pete Buttiigeg: "I'm proposing Medicare for all who want it. It's just a little bit different from the idea of Medicare for all whether you want it or not."
Michael and I took a train to Boston for a Harvard panel at the end of January. He was so excited to be on the panel w/the legendary
@CornelWest
. En route he said some profound life words to me about focusing on your purpose, on blocking out the frenetic energy... 1/
I’m old enough to remember when Democrats only had to run ads like this one against Republicans.
I’m glad we have
@BernieSanders
fighting for what matters most to Democratic voters.
#TellTheTruthJoe
What the hell does “is this too urban?” mean? A CNN reporter just said this in response to an Omar, Tlaib, AOC endorsement of Bernie.
Also, might we remember who won the rural map in the 2016 Democratic primary? Right. Bernie.
Friendly reminder:
Antifa = Anti-Fascists.
Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, as well as strong regimentation of society and of the economy.
Who is the enemy here?
Just spent the last few days talking to several DNC members. Looks like a significant group - not just progressives - are willing to vocally protest Bloomberg as a nominee. And in some cases, quit the DNC.
I want to thank
@MikeBloomberg
for (unintentionally) exposing the rotten, pay-to-play corruption in the Democratic Party establishment infrastructure.
Last time it was wikileaks. This time they’re doing it to themselves.
@nkulish
In 2015, Center for American Progress researchers wrote a report on U.S. Islamophobia, w/a 4300-word chapter on the Bloomberg-era NYPD.
When the report was published, the chapter was gone.
By then, Bloomberg had given CAP ~$1.5mm. That number has grown.
I believe in solidarity. Cenk showed up for me when the establishment was fighting us hard. Cenk checked in, offered a platform and even hosted an event for me. As an editor he was always pushing me to go for the tough stories and using his legal mind to offer angles. /1
Wonder why Bernie sometimes surrenders to the centrists? Remember he has to operate in the Senate, under Schumer rules. You want Bernie in leadership? He’s gonna be cautious -to keep his existing power.
While we think movement first, he’s prob conditioned to think Senate first.
Remember when a bird landed on Bernie’s podium, like a whisper form God to vote for him?
This is the brick being thrown at our heads to tell us what’s on the line.
Senate Republicans block emergency paid sick leave. They'll happily give $2,000,000,000,000 in tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy, but when it comes to the health of average Americans it's survival of the fittest.
As crappy as cable was tonight, I predict several commentators will start backing Bernie overnight.
Bernie will have to be more represented on cable moving forward as the nominee. Their contracts depend on it; they don’t want to give them up to the Bernie people.
Just watch.
Bernie: I'm the ONLY person up here who voted against all three of Trump's military budgets.
And that, Democrats, is why the establishment is afraid of him.
("oil makes the world go round...")
Maybe 10,000 people around this exterior part of Queensbridge Park who couldn’t fit in the 20,000 person capacity park for
@BernieSanders
rally in Queens.
Hate to break it to everyone but just because Bloomberg performed poorly doesn’t mean he’s done. Or that he won’t do better in the next debate. Or won’t want vengeance.
Bloomberg doesn’t play by the rules. We as a movement need to solidify and be focused more than ever.

The next time you hear the
@DNC
talk about “leading with their values” and being “progressive” think about how transparently petty they are when they deny
@TheYoungTurks
press credentials to the Democratic Convention.
NEW: The DNC, which Tom Perez packed with fossil fuel lobbyists, has removed language from the party platform calling for an end to fossil fuel subsidies and tax breaks.
The documentation app (we never discussed that on the URC) was run by Robby Mook. No bids. Just another contract handed out to a crony. We DID try to reform that but Perez’s appointee committee erased those reforms. So Ed, maybe know the facts before you throw allegations.
.
@edokeefe
points out that the delay in
#IowaCaucuses
results comes from new rules that were intended to add more transparency after the 2016 race: "What is happening tonight is exactly what Bernie Sanders asked for"
They want you to feel defeated. They want you to give up. They want you to stop organizing. That’s how they maintain power.
We’re awake. We’re engaged. We’re mobilized.
For every person suffering in this country-and world-we must keep growing this movement.
Reflect, then win.
The Biden campaign is trying to neutralize all attacks on his campaign in a contested primary by saying Labor activists are the right wing. That’s what campaigns do when they’re weak & propped up by backroom deal making & access journalism.
Biden can’t hide from his trade record
I still can’t understand why the f*ck Biden is against
#MedicareForAll
. Does he not think that unemployment is an issue? Doesn’t he see the polls in support of M4A? Hell, even his health insurance companies donors are going to face a crisis when unemployment reaches record levels
Tom Perez has the ability to halt primaries- beyond state legislatures- due to public health crisis. But he’s more driven by politics.
This is flat out criminal.
Fun fact: when I went in for my nyt endorsement, they cancelled on me when I was in the lobby. Then, when I got rescheduled, barely anyone was there -just two people. And that’s just the beginning.
The nyt is not a fan of left populism and they made that very clear in the room.
You know why these poorly reported rumors are turning into overblown stories? They have nothing to attack Bernie on. They’ve spent the last 5+ years digging, attacking, smearing him and his allies. Yet he’s winning.
So when there’s nothing, well you know..they create the drama
If you endorsed
@BernieSanders
, be a mensch and support him in ways that don’t just benefit your career. Fight for him on here, because you’re actually fighting for all of us. The millions of donors, volunteers, Americans w/ medical debt, student loan debt, housing instability...
Love Warren (seriously) and she’s my 2nd choice (see what I did there?) but in a highly competitive presidential primary to unseat a tyrant, the answer to “why do you have such a large number of wealthy supporters?” shouldn’t be “they’re attacking me.”
What happens with trump?
Programming note: Bernie stays on the ballot, so you can *technically* vote for him, so he can gather delegates to use as leverage during the platform committee, convention committees. Interesting. This seems like his “parting gift” which will undoubtedly be used against us.
