@jburnmurdoch Agreed. I think many people will enjoy going back to the office as there will be a clearer beginning and end to the day, they can nip out to get lunch or a coffee and there won't be any home-schooling/other caring responsibilities mixed in. It'll be relaxing by comparison!

It's my son's final day at his pre-school today before he starts primary. So warning to anyone I speak to today: THERE MAY BE A LOT OF EMOTION. I'm so, so grateful to his teachers for enabling me to stay in work these last four years. They are true heroes.

I’m on sabbatical for a month. From 20th March I’ll be joining the brilliant @FTLex team and also helping to cover some of @catrutterpooley ’s columns while she’s away. It has been a privilege covering energy at such a critical time but I’m sure I’ll be writing on it again!

Yikes Cornwall Insight has just released its latest price cap forecasts. They've said it before but the cap is expected to remain at over £2,200 for summer 2023 and winter 2023-24 highlighting this cost of living crisis isn't going away any time soon

So 9 weeks back from mat leave I find I get two responses from people (externally): 1. I'm patronised to within an inch of my life because it's assumed I lost all brain cells during mat leave or 2. I receive hugely supportive, encouraging messages. Obviously I prefer option two.

My family & I, & most especially @alan_pattullo , are broken. Richard meant so much to so many people but to me he was the big-hearted family guy with whom we laughed & laughed during a magical holiday in France in October. We love you, V & M so much. Rest in peace big fella XXX

This is so sad. I once interviewed Charles Kennedy when I was a young reporter in my early 20s working for a trade mag. He was incredibly kind, generous with his time & didn't attempt to mansplain or patronise me -- something I found extremely rare back then.
