For everyone saying this is Ganguro— its not. They straight up painted they’re faces to be black girls to “understand” what it’s like to be liked as a “soul singer.” This isn’t cute, it’s 2019, we’re tired of your excuses, and stupidity. Stop defending stupid peoples choices.
Today I was reminded how years ago a black man made fun of me on his very popular YT channel for cosplaying Chun-Li, putting me in his "funny video reel" dubbing me "Chunk-Li" and caused me to never wanna cosplay her again.
Its actually really nice to get some closure from something in the past. I honestly just made my post to show how you can thrive from dark moments, but I do appreciate
@KevOnStage
apologizing to me and taking accountability for the past (even though I didn't expect it). 💖
Now I work with Capcom under the creator program. Doing promos and getting paid to make little videos. I've built my convince on proving bullies and idiots wrong, that I deserve a space in his world being who I am. Fat, Black, Queer, Disabled, and Talented.
He talked about how "there's no way she did this kick" and "I know she didn't edit this"
Funny enough, yes I did do that kick. Yes, I did edit that myself, because I'm fat and talented. Making fun of people because you're not funny, doesn't make you a comedian.
Velma is trending because of the new imagining of her design and I'm down for more POC in our old school series.
And also, I cosplayed Velma too... Because I cosplay just about everything. 🤣💗
Back then that video, though it probably meant nothing to him and his fans, really made me feel terrible. For other people, it's a quick laugh, but for me it really made me feel like I was too dark and fat to cosplay anyone I truly loved. However, I'm a spiteful cosplayer.
Funny enough I spent a while doing kicks to get the perfect shot to edit because I thought it would be such a FUN idea. Some kicks were actually really high, but I wanted something middle so I could edit my foot higher. I was rather proud of it back then, I even made this cosplay
Anyway, all this to say don't let stupid people stop you from doing what you love. Especially when you love it and are so proud of yourself. I wouldn't be where I am if I didn't keep pushing. Now I'm guesting and speaking to people at cons. 💖
Some of you need to just admit you care more about Japanese people then Black people and move on. Saying their culture doesn’t get it, isn’t an excuse for racism. Some white folk don’t get it but it’s still not okay. You have internet, educate yourself. PERIOD.
@HainesAlec
This reasoning and thinking is why people still get away with doing things like this. It doesn't really matter "how bad" its just bad, people need to learn its not okay.
Happy Birthday Chun-Li! ✨💖
One of the cosplays I really want to remake one day. Still have alittle trauma from people calling me Chunk-Li— but I love her character so much. Maybe it’s a goal from this year? ☺️
Hell, I've even built the confidence to shoot in a Monokini! Shoutout to

! I wanted to do an inspired look for Lady Titania because I’m always the “mom type” in anything. Plus seeing all these beautiful black fae is making me the happiest in the world.

Guys I just wanna day, I’m so happy you guys like Isabelle cause I was so nervous to wear her in the beginning. I thought people would hate it because she’s everyone’s precious pup.

Just a friendly reminder, Just because someone is super cool or nice to you, doesn't mean they aren't toxic for someone else. Using "maybe your not their cup of tea" isn't an excuse either. People can be nice to they're friends, but be cruel to people they don't think worthy.
#29DaysofBlackCosplay
begins again 2020! That means new Intro!
I’m Midnight Pursona! I’ve been cosplaying since 10+ years! I love this community so much it’s a big part of my life! I’m still trying to make it my dream job but I just wanna make people smile with my work! 💕
Cosplayers, we should never have to put down another cosplayer to validate ourselves. Jealously is natural feeling, completely understandable in an unfair hobby. BUT WE SHOULD NEVER PUT DOWN ANOTHER COSPLAYER TO VALIDATE OURSELVES.
You know what sucks? Growing up poor and being stuck in the mindset of “I can’t afford that, I can’t have that, I can’t waste money or food—“
I get super sad when I feel like poor kid, or I feel unworthy. I’m trying to break that mindset, but it’s hard.
I wish some of my friends would see how the “white victim” and tears is so empowering to paint black peoples as a villain. I’ve had so many “friends” use it against me and people just say— “we’ll not everyone gets along.” And then continue to treat me like the villain (THREAD)(1)
Side note— I see some yt creators posting faes and fairies today... the only thing I say is, you couldn’t wait one day? Today is a day for us to feel beautiful and enchanting and you just couldn’t wait...? I see you, I’m taking mental notes. Cant give up attention for one day? 😔
I wanna share my happiness so I’m posting everywhere, I finished a costest if my Waitress Tiana and started crying— for once I feel like the Disney character, not the FAT version of it. I feel so amazing and I’m so happy right now.

Okay, first off there is a whole race of dark elves that are always depicted as brown/black so that's BS. Secondly, I'm so tired of untalented idiots coming into our spaces and saying "WELL I MAKE THE RULES" Man... ANYWAY. I love this cosplay and elves are beautiful, ALL TYPES.
Oh dear, it seems my Velma post made it to racist Twitter. So I wanted to share some more of my Velma cosplay. I think I will be redoing the cosplay soon!
I'm fat and black and it terrifies people to look at me, rawr~

So how come when you cosplay from FNAF or Undertale people wanna be like “lol it’s 2021” “The fandoms dead” but no ones hounding the DBZ fans or Sailor Moonies? If your a fan of something that feeling doesn’t just vanish with the year... like what? 🤣
This month people have been GOING OUT of there way to be racist and remind black cosplayers that the characters aren’t black. I’d just like to say.
You don’t own the characters and the characters you claim would be disappointed and disgusted in you.
#28DaysofBlackCosplay
When did apologies become the ULTIMATE slate cleaner? People say “they’re changing they said sorry” and all I can say is “...where?” By hanging with toxic racist white people? By not giving a platform to other POC? By getting to ignore their past? That’s not changing.
This is blowing up on TikTok so I wanted to share here. Cosplay what you love. Never let others tell you that you can’t! You are amazing and so talented!
Keep being creative no matter what anyone says!
@Akakioga
I've been cosplaying for years, but its been recent that I've really felt like a "good" cosplayer. I'm so excited to see more people like me expressing themselves in this hobby! <3
#BlackCosplayerHere
Jealousy talk: I can’t help but get mad myself when pretty skinny beautiful cosplayers can slap on a wig (with little to no effort on cosplay) and get clout for looking at a camera. It takes SO MUCH effort for me to get noticed cause I know I’m not conventionally pretty.
If I'm being very honest, I really didn't expect you to say anything or even notice my post. I really do appreciate you taking the time to write me an apology.
I'm happy you worked on yourself and took the time to learn.
Thank you, this is very appreciated. 💖
@RayLegend
Even if the characters said it was blaceface, I bet, the fans would just be like "awee no sweetie its okay! you just wanted to try something new! <3 SHES PRECIOUS PROTECT HER" 🤣
Hey there~ I'm a chubby black cosplayer whose still trying to get herself out there and out of her shell. I cosplay A LOT of Bowser and old men. I've always felt like I don't fit the mold of "cosplay beauty" but I try to

Maybe this is coming from a bitter place, but-- I keep seeing these beautiful black girls suddenly join the cosplay community and gain 10k+ in followers and it's kinda frustrating. After cosplaying for 10+ years and see them make it in 2 months sometimes even 3 days. (Thread, 1)

I couldn’t exclude my wonderful hubby! He’s been one of the best things in my life,
@scribelatte
as kept me sane through the quarantine and racism through cosplay— he is my rock. I love

, I hope I can get him into it!✨
I finally found out why everyone is cosplaying Danny Phantom— I think it’s wild cosplaying the same character is now concerned racist thief. Even if the person decided to cosplay BECAUSE OF YOU no one needs to post “inspired” just cause your the same character? It’s cosplay.
Can someone tell me what it's like to be a pretty cosplayer who has to do light make-up and wear a shirt and gets thousands of views and follows? To have companies toss things at them because they're drop-dead beautiful and were born with BEAUTIFUL features?
I'd like to know. (1)
Please report this racist account, this isn’t okay. People still wanna argue about how racism isn’t in cosplay— prime example.
Didn’t wanna quote the account to give it attention.
I didn't wanna talk about the post this morning about the Princess Yue cosplayers, but I'm kinda annoyed. The black cosplayer in question didn't deserve any hate for making a post; HOWEVER, the way they put someone on blast that had NOTHING to do with the insults was uncalled for
WATCH 🚨 New York police boss Mike O'Meara went off on the media today:
"Stop treating us like animals and thugs and start treating us with some respect ... Our legislators abandoned us. The press is vilifying us. It's disgusting."
We're in a whole movement about better equality for black people and respect. AND THERE ARE STILL BLACK PEOPLE JEALOUS AND ANGRY THAT LIZZO EXIST. What happen to Black Lives Matter? Doesn't count if we don't fit your mold huh? BLACK LIVES MEANS PLUS SIZE, TRANS, LGBTQ+, ETC. 😑
People are really in there feelings about my Miku cosplay. Like people are going out of there way to tell me I’m not Miku.
Like… bro, what are you talking about of course I am.
Okay, so this is not going to pass because ABSOLUTELY NOT. I grew IN SPITE of people like him, he's not the only one who has said terrible things. There are so many people who never made it this far and back then I almost didn't either.
This is a terrible mindset to have. 😰
I’m not giving the retweet, but people like this are what make me feel like I can’t be bisexual and love my husband. I’m not “bi” enough cause I’ve never dated a woman. People in the LGBTQ+ community can be so biphobic and treat us like we’re just “confused” or using people...
So this just happen...

Its 2019, there should be no more excuses for black facing and cosplay.
You didn't know better? We spent all last year educating.
You should know by now, UNLESS you're purposely ignoring the messages in this community. In which, please exit to the left.
👏No👏More👏Excuses!
PSA: Telling a Cosplayer they’re missing pieces to a cosplay online is rude. Especially if you don’t know why, cause it could be for health reasons or exhaustion. Especially if your a stranger and don’t know this Cosplayer. Then don’t attack them when they say it’s rude,Thanks.✨
One of my first body-positive photo shoots I did as Pochaco! I'd love to do another one if I can find another cute bikini like this one!
... and a pool.
Thank you for indulging in my many posts today! I’m ridiculously proud of how this turned out!
Amanda the Adventure is such an interesting and fun game that I really wanted to do the demon makeup more then anything!
I hope everyone had a wonderful day!

Ah yes my Among Us video has reached fatphobic comments. You know what that means!!
More AMONG US COSPLAY!! I adore this game, I can’t play Among Us because of anxiety but it’s so fun to watch! 🥰💖
Fun Fact: The cosplay community isn’t suddenly having drama, this year as just been AMAZING at exposing the toxic people that everyone could ignore because we were all busy. Now that everyone is working from home, on social media, it’s so much easier to see. 💖
I get it... Lizzo is BEAUTIFUL, but every chubby black girl isn’t Lizzo. I’m tired of being compared to her because it’s the only compliment people can think of... I use to get compared to every chubby black girl in Vegas and it’s exhausting.. I just wanna be ME.
While on the subject, when we “support” black cosplayers, can we not exclude the chubby ones who you don’t follow in fans-only? I love the lewd and the beautiful thin girls— but we exist too, just because we don’t look like the perfect model.
Cosplay community is a little too obsessed with fame and being viral. Especially with concepts we don’t own or didn’t create first. Sometimes I think we need to step back take a moment. I never condone bullying either but people are allowed to voice how they feel.
FAT ≠ UNHEALTHY
DIABETES ≠ FAT
SKINNY ≠ HEALTHY
FAT ≠ UNWORTHY
I'm so SICK and tired of the diabetic jokes, the fatphobia, and all the bullshit. Just a note, YOU GUYS AREN'T MAKING FAT PEOPLE WANNA DO BETTER (ESPECIALLY IF THEY HAVE MENTAL DISORDERS). We aren't pets!
I just wanna know why is it so offensive to be a black person in the world? Why can't we have one character respected in they're own skin? Why do people wanna wash us out so much? You say you love people and are not racist, but we're literally drawn as monkeys...? Its not funny..
