I made one based off the Heroes animation for Modern SA2. Smooth gameplay here we come!

We're putting the cool factor into the characters one step at a time!

The characters also stand more like real people too. I'm not too fond of the official animations, so I figured I'd make my own. I think these look pretty cool.
SU Redux isn't fully done, but Marza Sonic v4.5 is! Check out that sweet sweet eye curve ๐
AO is now baked via vertex colours much like it is in the Gens version of the mod. I hope to release this next week.
Final touch for the visuals of the MSA2 characters.
I've brought over the vertex colours used on the Unleashed eyeboard mesh to MSA2 through a texture. Meshes with vertex colours can't react to light and use an environment map. I overlayed the reflection to achieve this look.
Made some minor tweaks to Marza Sonic's model. The glove cuff & socks have more creasing and depth. 3D soles are now closer to
@CYB3D128
's soles. I wasn't able to port them over due to proportion differences, but this seems to be better than before. The buckle has also changed.

To kick things off with Sonic Omens, Sonic's quills being posed like this make no sense. Does anyone even know which direction the wind is blowing?
The character's impatience with the player is something I'm looking to play with for character idle quotes.

Been working on Shadow's wrist meshes for MSA2. Never was a fan of the ring being an odd model in the modern titles. Decided to recreate what 06/P-06 has: Inhibitor Ring clips. I might have Shadow take these off, we'll see though... ๐

's Amy New Tricks' Modern SA2 support. The hammer stand and twirl anims are original (yes I acted these out LMAO). Hammer attack is from 06. 2 GIFs are below for the main run and the running hammer jump animations. Hope ya like these!
So this replicates how Sonic Colours does the fresnel thing. One spherical env map for the body, one for the skin. I toned down the intensity by making 'em transparent. I also duped the meshes so this would work properly. No more flat models!

Took a crack at remaking SA2's first skate animation for Shadow for MSA2, with some inspiration from
@SonicpoX
's animation for P-06. Honestly, I'm liking this way more than I initially thought! Also made a new spring and spring -> fall animation too! ๐
Working on character proportions and other model edits to make these modern models look a little more unique for MSA2. Getting a good mix of SA2 and modern-styled models + other inspiration to create a new style.
New sound design for the GUN Hunters. Replicated the chunkiness of SA2's sounds. Tried to make these guys sound a little intimidating and mean.

Can't bake lighting properly as of now, so I'm doing my best to recreate the GI (global illumination) with vertex colours. Hope this somewhat hypes you up for more SA2 stage ports!

Back from the educational grind and back to working on MSA2 v6's demo! Here's a new render based off a pose from the comics in the meantime. This was fun to make, as I'm sure you can tell from the viewport image lol.

Did you know Sonic 4 Episode 2's model is an edited Unleashed model? It has the eyelids in front of the eyes, different diffuse textures and a slightly lower poly count. SU Gameplay model: 19,889 tris. S4E2: 16,304 tris. It also sports a thicc head.
Got some new sweet render materials in for Redux Sonic! HE1 games normally use a specular and displacement map. I'm using a normal map and a specular map. This looks hella dope ๐๐ผ

Still on my break but I figured out a new technique for quill animation. Some of you might've noticed '06 does this through dynamic bones to make it look like the stages have wind direction. Very simple to do. Loop all frames twice and offset the frames for each quill group.
Spent a good few hours remaking Shadow's diffuse texture, and then his falloff & a quick normal map for his body for
@GensRedux
. Even gave him that cool blue fur colour I was on about earlier. I think this looks pretty cool for something that's almost done!

found that Gens has a subsurface scattering shader & made use of it for Redux Sonic's skin & cloth. With a lil' tweaking on my end, here's the result! He also got the body falloff to look how it does in my renders.
Finally learned how to make jiggle look way better. No more rotations only. Positions and rotations are in now! Move down = rotate up. Move up = rotate down. Check the tweet in the replies for how this looks when viewed at the back!

Dry Lagoon's coming along real nice for MSA2!
Been experimenting with placing grass throughout the stage and reworking the sound design! Here's a little preview of my progress so far (note: I need to fix the grass texture, please don't point that out lool). Images in thread!
Been working on Rouge's model and Dry Lagoon in my spare time. Pretty happy with how this is turning out so far!
I've brought the more rounded DC SA1 Sonic look to her a bit by shortening her eyes' height & making them wider from the centre downward. New ear shape & hair.

and Hoppy are working on Lava Shelter! HD textures (by Hoppy and Rev)! Had this mod in the back for a year but we're finally working on it.
This has been on my mind for a while with Shadow's colouring. Remember how SA2 had that nice cold blue hue to his black fur? What if that was a subtle colour in the rim lighting/falloff? I think this looks nice. Sublte, but cool.
Wave Ocean v2 is super close to being finished! Just got some minor clean up to do and it's releasing on July 4th!
Includes:
- New vertex paint for a more realistic look (imagine one guy vertex painting 2 whole stages ๐)
- New time of day
- Some new textures
- Tons of bug fixes
I've shown a bit of this earlier on and now you get to see more! Here's a better look at the new vertex paints and geometry changes for Modern SA2's City Escape!
