Westerners look at Asian business culture and spot obvious mistakes, like valuing seniority over performance, lying to save face or excessive work hours. But I’m more curious to know about the mistakes westerners make and are culturally blind to; does anyone have perspective?

Going to a state school is great until you're doing banking/finance applications and they ask you to enter your college, and its just a dropdown of 12 colleges (yours is never listed)
Just go to a state school. The premium you're paying for elite private colleges vs. the better public schools is for social clout and not the quality of the education. And that's worth a lot less now that people have figured out that elite higher ed is cringe.
