Just been clocking up my cycling miles & I’ve managed to do nearly 75 miles in one week including two round trips from Mitcham to Camden. Along with the massive health benefits of exercise, it certainly makes you recognise the road safety issues you sometimes face as a cyclist.

Very good news that @TfL are converting the 200 bus which runs from Mitcham to Raynes Park to double deck electric buses from 20 February 2021. Will be the first electric double decker route in Merton and hopefully the first of many. Also welcome the additional capacity provided.

One part of the debate around LTNs & creating livable streets I find really odd is the sort of 'Hackney birther' argument, that says newcomers are imposing them on longstanding residents. Reality is 1st LTNs were created in Hackney by local people in 1970s before I was even born.

Exactly 13 years ago today, the then @UKLabour government announced a £290m rebuild of St Helier Hospital after many years of campaigning by @Siobhain_Mc . Sadly the rebuild was stopped by the Tory/LibDem coalition. That’s the difference Labour in power makes.

Up bright and early today talking to commuters at Norbury station about the TfL fare freeze until 2025 thanks to the Mayor of London @SadiqKhan in contrast compared to the Tory government who are hiking rail fares by 4.9%. Helping Londoners through the cost-of living crisis.

Did you know… cycling is a more efficient way than cars to move people and prevent congestion? Cycling can move up to SEVEN times more people than cars in the same space. Not everyone can or will cycle - but the more people who do, the less congested our roads will be.

Subject to funding, I hope we can introduce a school street at this location in the future and hopefully the school will be supportive of its introduction given the issues.
