Someone connected with me on LinkedIn and said he had “60+ years of combined tech experience from working in 10 industries.” His first job was in 2007. I don’t think that’s how years work. 🤔
When just one time you decide to violate your rule to connect on LinkedIn only with people you've actually met... and so you accept the connection... and the next thing you get is a pitch-slap DM, dispatched within seconds from that new connection.

Sometimes, you just need to pick up the phone. I mean, I hate the phone, too.
But sometimes, "quicker" email is slower. Less efficient. An endless loop of easily misinterpreted nincompoopery. Just me?
Every flippin' day I unsubscribe from 2-3 mailing lists that have added my name without my permission. It's 2019, people! Permission is not a new idea. We can do better than this.
That thing just happened where I'm deep in work and then suddenly a video starts playing seemingly out of nowhere... and I frantically scan the 400 open tabs on my browser because WHERE ARE YOU TURN IT OFF NOW

I just saw a chipmunk foraging in my yard, re-emerging after winter hibernation. I watched him for a few minutes, scampering about on his Saturday morning errands: Carefree, untroubled, going wherever he pleased. It made me jealous.
Jealous of a chipmunk. That’s how broken I am.
Dear Everyone: Please don't buy ANY paperback version of Everybody Writes. THERE IS NO OFFICIAL PAPERBACK version, even though
@amazon
wants you to think there it. It has for sale an inferior printing that appears on the book's Amazon page and looks legit. IT IS NOT. 😡

For me, writing is key to 3 things: communication, creation, confidence. Why: writing is how I best communicate my ideas. It also helps me generate them. And it boosts my self-confidence to express them. Is this true for you, too?
This past week has been a hibernation from productivity. From busyness. From the hive of industry.
I hope you’re hibernating, too. Slow your brain. Slow your body. You deserve it.
I just read an article citing a company's success and its "remarkable" ability to "churn out content." No successful brand "churns out content." They produce it with care and optimize it with love.
Order takeout. Tip generously. Buy gift cards to your fave restaurants/small biz. Keep paying the people who cut your hair/clean your house/whatever service that isn’t happening now. If you can afford it, do it. This is how we need to be there for one another right now.

"We have a shorter attention span than a goldfish." 🐟 There isn't a day that goes by that I don't see a marketer quoting that dumb stat. Two problems: 1) It's just not true. 2) Quit blaming the goldfish! as

B2B Sales has a rep of being less emotional than B2C Sales. But it's not true. B2B is MORE emotional. The stakes are higher: A job on the line; a reputation at risk.
Engage the heart, the brain follows happily. Connection before conversion.
I think about this every single day.

Vacation re-entry is *rough*. I've been back for vacation for 3 days. And no matter how much joy or satisfaction or (in these times) flat-out gratitude you feel toward your job, turning off the Out Of Office is brutal. Just me?

I have a plumber here installing a new toilet. Every little while he calls me into the bathroom to show me some aspect of New Toilet -- a new flange, updated tank technology (?). TBH I'm not that interested but he's genuinely excited about his work and how can you not love that?
Once I was driving a full pot of stew to an ailing relative. I was accelerating, decelerating, taking turns very carefully & slowly because I didn't want to spill the stew.
Now every time I'm on the road stuck behind a vehicle driving maddeningly slowly... I think, "Well, maybe…
