Sleep really is the best debugging tool. Within 30 minutes was able to narrow down the problem I spent hours on yesterday. Found the cause and can now fix it!
The number of likes and retweets on this is scary. It was a joke. If you have people on your team who you consider to be "dead weight", maybe have a look at why? Like, how you are not supporting them properly? Are they not in the right place to add value. Is their value not seen?
Just wait until the people opposing "cancel culture" find out about people of certain races, genders, etc not getting hired for jobs / not treated by medical professionals. They should be outraged.
Me: Today is my day off.
Friend: You don't have to work at all?
Me: Well... I was asked to write this article. And am organizing this conference. And I have a talk in 2 weeks that I need to prep.... And oh yeah, sewing a quilt.
Also me: Why am I so tired?
Person: how does programming work?
Programmer: well you type & you delete. You rethink. Then you do 187 min of research & correct it. You reread & wonder if you have a grasp of <programming language>. Then you revise
P: then youโre done?
Prog: then you move to the next method
Please be kind to the people working in the super markets. They're mostly kids (including one of ours) and can't help it when stuff runs out because of people hoarding...
Want to live longer? Try going to the opera. Researchers in Britain have found that people who reported going to a museum or concert even once a year lived longer than those who didnโt.

Firing based on LOC alone is obviously not great, but it has some value. I know no one wants to hear this but there wasnโt a lot of time and huge cuts had to be made. LOC will measure some form of productivity across hundreds/thousands of individual contributors.
New research finds that young girls and boys have "indistinguishable" math abilities โ contradicting the idea that men largely dominate STEM fields because their brains are wired that way.
Tfw you get a message from a friend the day after your talk about how a test that was supposed to fail when she changed the functionality didn't, because the original test wasn't implemented correctly.
"Never trust a test you haven't seen fail."

The 6yo is learning to knit and made some mistakes. I told him his dad and I both make mistakes at work *every day* and his face lit up. If you don't make mistakes, how will you learn new things?

People: Why is this open source library overly complex?!?
Also people: why won't this open source library support my exotic use case (with optional bonus points for: that clearly goes against the intent of the library)?!?
Husband is working with some new grads on his dev team and one of them is worried about faliing behind. So he asked the other lead: When was the last time you were in a meeting with no clue what's going on? The answer: Yesterday.
Dear new grads, you're fine! ๐

I think the point is they're not treated fairly. They are beeing given an advantage not given to others. They want *everyone* to be treated fairly, otherwise it's still unfair.
If you are wondering why a certain man is no longer invited to speak at conferences, and several women respond stating they have been bullied by him, I think you have your answer. ๐คทโโ๏ธ

Don't forget about social welfare systems (i.e. income if you are layed off, sick, unable to work, retired), maternity leave, pension funds, etc. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
People on social media spouting statistics like: only a very small amount of children died of cobid and they had underlying conditions.
Yes, my 4yo nephew has underlying conditions and I'd prefer for him to not become one of those statistics.
Wtf is wrong with people?
"Exploratory testing requires skilled and curious testers, who are comfortable with learning about the software and coming up with new test designs during a session."
Excellent blogpost!
Am looking at some code I wrote over a year ago and ehm... ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฌ
(It's not pretty.)
The upside is: I guess I learned a lot since then? ๐คทโโ๏ธ
