The case was more nuanced than at first sight; the feeling among Tories was that he prob broke the rules but not for profit; there was sympathy for how Orwellian the investigations process can be; and Paterson's wife took her life last year. That was the human context.

We were particularly concerned that Claudia had been poorly treated by the association which was supposed to defend her interests and a university that has a statutory duty to protect free speech. 3/5

@HanoverHussy @gmpolice @AndyBurnhamGM Imagine the reaction if you were to substitute for 'terf' a known derogatory term for any other group sharing a protected characteristic.

To save me typing out the same reply 1000 times: 1. The issue of FPNs to Sunak and Johnson proves no more and no less than that the police consider they have a reasonable belief that S & J broke the law. 2. Paying an FPN is not equivalent in law to an admission of guilt.

“It is unclear how a women’s charity such as ours could possibly contravene the ‘values’ of the party. This ban doesn’t seem to sit well with the party leadership’s repeated public commitments to root out misogyny." #Wales @Plaid_Cymru @NationCymru

She was scheduled to give a talk about her work with the charity women @thewell at the Ceramic Art London show in April 2022. The talk was cancelled supposedly due to concerns that it would be disrupted by trans rights activists. 2/5

If, as part of an event for LGBTQ barristers, you've invited Stonewall to speak about banning conversion therapies, that has ceased to be a purely social networking event. If you're not seeing that, it's likely because your views align with Stonewall's. /4
