On 3/30/21, Police Officer III Miriam Alvarado lost her nearly five-year battle against cancer. She served our city for 15 years, working in several divisions in the city, including Gang & Narcotics. She was assigned to the Metropolitan Division in 2015 where she remained.

We will never forget LAPD Police Officer III Spree DeSha, who was killed on Sept. 12, 2008, in the collision of a MetroLink commuter train and a Union Pacific Railroad freight train. Officer DeSha and 24 other passengers were killed in the collision.
