The future of the Oakland A’s isn’t set yet. There remain several hurdles to jump before the Las Vegas proposal could take place. With the increasing problems and extended timeline there, it would be faster and easier to build in Oakland.

@wabbit011235813 Yes! With my experience working on HIV/AIDS prevention, including in the 1980s when federal officials treated that pandemic as a joke, it’s horrifying to see how little learning the lessons of the past is happening at the top. Deaths from HIV came long after initial infection.

@carabeara13 @MayorShengThao Here’s documents. Both Rob Manfred and the A’s owners demanded the Oakland coliseum site - and specifically said that it would guarantee the A’s would stay in Oakland. (And they would use it for ballpark if they couldn’t do Howard Terminal). Once allowed, they refused to do so.

Fans in Oakland were the loudest in the nation - then Warriors owners chose to ditch the fans for a location that is expensive and harder to get to - and brought insulting case to try to stick our taxpayers with their Arena debt. We didn't abandon you Klay - owners abandoned us.

I don't care much if you call my proposal, to allow duplexes - fourplexes in more parts of Oakland, "radical" if you want to - though it did pass Council unanimously, and includes anti-displacement protections. But it's the practice of exclusion that should be called extreme.
