Years ago, I was on a work trip with a coworker/friend. When he found out I was single and said he’d be my wingman. I told him most straight guys claim not to know what an attractive man looks like. He said, “Every man knows what he wishes he looked like.” *welp*

Can we talk about how easily, how reflexively, how instinctively Beker pulled out her, "But why are you attacking me," line? It both came out of nowhere AND was predictable and familiar, especially to Black Women. That line was when I went from "hot" to "volcanic."

"Lemme interrupt you, talk over you, disagree with you and then get mad at you and blame you for having the strength to stand up to my ridiculousness." I've been spending the day sharing this clip with the Black Women in my life in-between re-watches. It's my Infinity Stone.
When I was a teenager growing up in Toronto we didn't have to worry about getting stabbed on the subway on the way to Kensington Market or Queen West.
We didn't have to worry about having our drinks spiked while we were in the clubs and bars.
The only thing we have to worry…
I need people to note how quickly the working poor went from “undeserving of a living wage” to “pandemic front line heroes” to “undeserving welfare recipients.”

I once flew from San Antonio back to Toronto, connecting through Houston Intercontinental where I met a man, took him to the United Lounge (I was Star Alliance Gold, he was not), found a corner to make out, left him there and hopped on my flight home.

How does the presence of older siblings influence the development of language?
This lovely video brought my mind immediately to research on the topic.
There is some consensus that the presence of one or more siblings can correlate with slightly slower* language development…
@msolurin
I could never even be friends with a “Lemme do something I know will hurt your feelings so I can laugh at you” man, let alone marry one. For what? 🤷🏾♂️

The most notable part about

’s subway information screens is that subway information is the least prioritized element on the screen. It’s embarrassing. It’s funny. It’s VERY Toronto.
What’s scary is how clearly the police are telling the community their priority isn’t the pursuit of truth or acting with honesty or integrity but the protection of their own at any cost.
Some of us have been warning you for decades.

The owner tricked him into emailing him..then sent him a google invite for a parking lot beat down this Friday. 🥹

I can’t help but contrast this with how men in the industry have been treating Black women. (Meghan Thee Stallion, Serena Williams, Lizzo…)
The transition from how Umar Zameer was described by the media and politicians when the death happened to what we know now that the case has ended should be a lesson to us all to have a healthy dose of scepticism when listen to the police describe crime.
#BREAKING
: Jurors have found Umar Zameer not guilty of all criminal charges, including first-degree murder, in the death of a Toronto police officer nearly three years ago.
I always find it interesting that most in Toronto haven’t figured out the failure of the Scarborough RT was due to lack of maintenance.
Run your car without changing the oil and see what happens. 🤷🏾♂️
Anyway, here’s what Vancouver (via Kingston) is doing with the same tech.
Congestion on University is out of control.
Look at how many cars are at a stand still - with a bike lane for a single cyclist to go by.
Where’s the common sense?
This tweet made me think of

It’s interesting to see who gets a seat at the table in spite of their performance and who gets ignored.

John A. MacDonald was instrumental in the creation of Canada 𝗮𝗻𝗱 he was a white supremacist. That fact you think these are contradictory ideas is alarming. The fact that you don’t know this is proof that statues do not teach history.

I remember when these leaks were first noticed BEFORE the station opened and we were told by the project management team that the station was just “sweating” and this was normal.
This isn’t poor maintenance. This is poor construction.
It so strange how many instances there are of TTC seeing a problem others have solved decades ago and refusing to adopt their solution and move on to the next issue.

We're not doing either. How a 18yo deals with grief is his process and his alone. I'll NEVER judge that but celebrating the coddling of an unrepentant murderer isn't my ministry.
This reminds me of the Lakeshore West GO trains zipping by divers stuck on The Gardiner.
I think trains speeding past cars stuck in (participating in) traffic is some of the most effective advertising for public transit. It’s honest. It’s real.

The key is to realize that the hairstyle is intentional. The man is in costume. I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is a VERY privileged man in "common folk" drag.
People ask why I thought John Tory was a horrible mayor. The reason is because I was constantly comparing him to Anne Hidalgo.
Toronto elected an old man who wouldn’t embarrass them on the world stage and that’s what they got. Respectable demeanour with no policy.
#TOpoli
Anne Hidalgo became Mayor of Paris 10-years ago. In that time the City has;
🚲 built 1,300km of bike lanes
🌳 planted 145,000 new trees
💨 reduced air pollution by 40%
🌳added 45km of new parks
📚 converted 180 streets to “school streets”

There are so many poor design choices with these new trains.
1) The small windows creates extra incentive for people to clamour near the doors to see outside
2) The interior design is far worse than

3) Painting the doors is no substitute for a real livery

Michael Burnham: apologizes numerous times for what she did in the first two episodes, spends the entire first season trying to make amends, and is a kind and empathetic person

Shaw: is deliberately written to seem unlikeable at first
Fans: so complex!
@ainsleychapman
Beyond the urban planning part, this really is a lesson about how people are really bad at even attempting to be objective about issues that impact them, which kinda touches on a theme I’ve been seeing quite a bit this summer…
…makes me think, “You’re afraid to look inward and see your mistakes so you tell the world you’ve never made any.”
Is this projection? Likely, but I stand by the idea that too few have the ability to look inward and say, “I was wrong. That’s okay. I’ve now learned and grown.”

I wish they were permitting to get rid of the “heritage” roof and replace it with something better.
Since they’re keeping it, it’d be nice if they painted it white, like in these pictures, to brighten up that dark and dingy place. It would help improve the user experience.

’s plan to eliminate tracks in favour of wider platforms at Toronto’s Union Station is excellent. It helps make the train shed seem modern, and gives passengers the space that they need to safely and comfortably board trains
This might be the clearest insight into why police don’t take crimes committed by drivers seriously.
It’s wild that it’s not occurring to them they may be in error.
