All five officers who murdered Tyre Nichols are currently out on bond, while (in New York) a cash-poor, legally innocent person who commits a far less severe, bail-eligible offense is locked up on Rikers Island until their trial, which could take years. This isn't public safety.

“Wearing a mask is a personal choice, and there is no practical way to enforce a mandate to wear them,” the superintendent of a Georgia school district wrote in a letter after a widely circulated photo showed a packed hallway on the first day of classes

This is outrageously cruel. And deeply disturbing to see this exactly 2 years after the similar, violent action in Charlottesville of a white supremacist against peaceful protesters.

@amornetwork @CosechaMovement @FangCollective @Fuerza_Laboral BREAKING: Here is HD video of an ICE guard driving his truck into us as we sat peacefully blocking the Wyatt Detention Center. We’re putting our bodies on the line because we see the camps and the roundups. We’ve learned from our ancestors: NEVER AGAIN FOR ANYONE.

We just sent this letter signed by 24+ NY State Senators urging the courts to issue a moratorium on evictions immediately. This is a crucial step to protect vulnerable New Yorkers from choosing between protecting their health & defending their homes during this state of emergency

Solidarity with @Dianne4NYC . Politics can just be so dirty, toxic and cruel. Keep running a positive, inspiring, grassroots campaign that welcomes every person in and leaves nobody out.

Transit workers and straphangers acted heroically yesterday morning in rapid response to the attack in the subway to save lives. And today, Zack Dahnan, a 21 year-old security camera technician, found the alleged shooter. We keep each other safe.

This is a personal appeal and piece of advice for everyone: Get your next COVID-19 booster shot as soon as you are eligible. I received the booster in October, so I’ve been overdue to get another. I put it off, thinking I would be fine. Then I got COVID, and became *very* sick.

I’m gonna vote for Joe in November and I get it, but I’m not going to pretend to love this montage of sexual assault survivors giving canned, seemingly tokenized endorsements of him. Not a fan of that

I had traveled to Israel & Palestine multiple times previously, and returned in July of 2014 to visit friends in the West Bank and assist in a community development project there. I was detained for ~10 hours at Allenby. I was ultimately denied entry for my anti-occupation views.

My position demands that I do more than condemn the Mayor. The Senate can and should do more. We need to reconvene the legislature ASAP and take swift, meaningful action to protect people from the NYPD. The minimum we should do is pass the #SaferNYAct .

Hard to imagine, in the same week of the deadliest, most devastating fire NYC has seen in decades—that was clearly the result of a negligent landlord and lack of landlord accountability—state leadership might still collectively fail to extend and expand urgent tenant protections.

Sources tell me that White House and Democrats considering attaching means test to a number of key agenda items - from EV rebates and free community college - as a way to shrink reconciliation bill and pacify spending hawks.

I endorsed @BernieSanders and I’ll be thrilled to see him become our president. While I differ from the WFP’s decision, I’m looking forward to continuing to work together with the WFP on the many issues they lead on, especially in fighting for #FairElections in NY.

NEW: Sen. Manchin has told the White House the child tax credit must include a firm work requirement and family income cap in the $60k range, Axios has learned. These demands would dramatically weaken one of Biden's signature programs.

Bro, the lines are long everywhere because we have to limit how many people are inside a small space at a time. You see lines outside at small retail stores, too, for this reason. 🙄
