2023 has been such a wonderful year. The move to Chicago was smooth (minus stolen bikes 😡) and rewarding, our girls are thriving in “school”, family is healthy, and we’ve made some great new friends along the way. 😊

An increasingly important question, with an unsurprising answer.
Perfusion imaging identifies pts MOST LIKELY TO BENEFIT from EVT.
Next question: If there were a novel test that predicted MOST CASES OF SEPSIS d/t appendicitis, would you use that to select pts for appendectomy?
ICYMI: In this study of EVT treated patients, perfusion imaging selection was associated with better outcomes compared to no perfusion imaging selection among patients within 0-6 and 6-24 hour window, although comparison to no EVT was not available.

Happiness is a simple equation.
{Happiness = Reality - Expectations}
As long as your expectations << your reality, you will always be happy.
The question is, is job dissatisfaction for neurologists due to high expectations or unanticipated reality? (My guess, the former…)
So true,
@MicieliA_MD
!
Minus the differentiation of “vertigo” from “dizziness”. Many patients with posterior circulation strokes feel…
⚠️ “My balance is off”
⚠️ “I’m lightheaded”
⚠️ “I’m going to pass out”
And many pts w heart failure say
💔 “The world is spinning”
When should you do CTA head and neck in the ED for patients presenting with vertigo?
Below is a "vertigo +" approach to help risk-stratify who can be safely discharged to rapid clinic where further neuroimaging with MRI brain can be considered.
