Because the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch, with the threat of Flash Flooding for from noon until 10pm this evening, in Historic Ellicott City all vehicles should immediately be moved from Main Street between Maryland Avenue and Ellicott Mills Drive.
The Howard County Emergency Operations Center is activated. Representatives from multiple county agencies are coordinating our storm response. The National Weather Service reports 5" of snow has already fallen in Columbia area. Another 2-3" expected throughout the afternoon.

Howard County has received about 3โ of snow. A line of sleet/freezing rain is approaching faster than expected, and while roads may be snow covered now, they could get icy and very slippery when that line moves through. If you have to be on the roads, PLEASE USE CAUTION.
Crews continue clearing snow and treating all County roadways. We are more than 50% complete and will continue work this evening until snow is cleared from all roadways. Crews will check normal hilly/cold spot areas early tomorrow morning and treat again as needed.
