Happy LGBT+ History Month! Supporting striking workers is a fundamental part of UK queer history and long may it continue in our present and our future

For LGBT+ History Month, the Studio in Portland building is hosting an exhibition of LGBT+ focused research and work from across
@UniofNottingham
including some of my own. It is excellent to see strong representation from FMHS there too!
@AdrianHarrop
Deadnaming and misgendering because its on notes. Refusing to use correct pronouns. Inappropriate and intrusive questioning outside of what is needed for any assessment or procedure

Hello, I'm Ella and I research health inequalities and am working on ways to reduce them. I'm really interested in looking at intersectional health inequalities too
My friend shared my paper with her relative who is trans and he told my friend that I've 'made him feel seen and loved for the first time in ages' and I'm not crying, you are 😭❤️😭❤️
@DrJenGunter
UK Nurse here 🙋🏼♀️The WHO have said its best not to for vaccination, but in depots/rapid tranq to clean skin if not "socially clean". In videos of covid vaccination, I've seen other places don't Z track and that really blew my mind!!
@BootstrapCook
Two very positive things in my life: Pinky (left) and The Brain (right). Here they are trying to take over the world, along with a sleeping Pinky. Sending love to you, Jack
Not sure this article got much of a peer review pre-publication but don't worry, I've done one for you x
1. Throughout, "men, women, and trans people" is used. This suggests trans people are not seen by the authors as men or women but instead fall in a 3rd gender category🚩
Despite recent discussions and campaigns to widen nursing’s appeal to people of diverse gender identities, it is a largely female profession
Understand how men and transgender and nonbinary people can sometimes be discouraged from becoming nurses
My oldest friend and I share a birthday and have considered ourselves to be like twins for the last 15+ years. This week we have the coolest feat of twinning EVER
Both of us have had journal articles published this week!
In my cohort multiple students struggled financially, some even dropped out. That was WITH NHS bursary. Existing financial commitments and financial independence won't be covered by £5k.
Its a nice idea but will barely touch the debt
Today is
#PronounsDay
and its more important than you might think.. I use she/her and they/them pronouns. I bought myself a pronoun pin for my work lanyard and share these in my bio and email signature so that others know how to address me and know I'll respect their pronouns too
Hello, I'm Ella - a non-binary mental health nurse asking why aren't all Nurses learning about LGBTQ+ (especially trans) health and what education can have on minimising transphobia in healthcare

It’s

The tier4/Christmas lockdown rule change may have changed how my Christmas will look this year, but it has saved me from spending a few days with my middle sister's new tory boyfriend x
Are you sure?? because there sure is plenty homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in the Labour Party. Push for a true banning of conversion therapy and ditch Duffield, and maybe then we can talk..
Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia.
Labour is committed to promoting and defending the rights of our LGBT+ communities.

I've just had the loveliest time talking to many LGBTQ+ people from UoNottingham about our experiences of belonging, imposter phenomenon and queer spaces for the Conversation Cafe. What a great bunch of people ❤️🏳️🌈

Today is
#BiVisibilityDay
so I wanted to share my pride. Often dismissed or forgotten within the LGBTQ+ community, bisexual+ people exist and are valid 💗💜💙
Really not fun fact about
#OnlyWomenGetCervicalCancer
is that trans men are over 10x more likely to get an inadequate pap smear than cis women. This means that cervical cancer is harder to identify and may not be found until much later
@adamfare1996
I find it so frustrating when they edit this sort of thing in, especially phrases like "worth the calories" from Pru as it just adds an unnecessary and unwelcome tone (and unhelpful messaging) to what is otherwise a wholesome show!
Really lovely day in
@UoN_SHS
with
@lizcharalambou
and Thomas for Clinical Skills with students preparing for their first placements👩🏼⚕️👨⚕️ So much nicer to see and teach people face to face than over a screen!
Hairdresser: so what do you do, are you working? Studying at uni?
Me: umm yes, I work *at* the uni as a lecturer
H: You do?! But you look way to young!!
Me: yes, yes I do.
Overwhelmed by the support and celebration from friends, colleagues and even strangers over my final masters results today! I really hadn't imagined that I would get a grade anywhere close to what I did
@ItsJacobEdward
There is so much wrong with this response!! I am amazed by the psychotherapist who thought longer waiting times were better despite the significant evidence base to the contrary! To bring back a phrase.. I can't even.
First day of PGCHE today went well. A little overwhelming to be a student again but I'm keen to find out how I can improve my present and future teaching!
Let's show some love for our final-year
@UoN_SHS
nursing students who have signed up for extended placements to support the NHS during the Covid-19 crisis. We're proud of you!

Hello UoNottingham friends, I have exciting loo news!! Yes...loo news! The wonderful people of
@UoNSU
have mapped out all of the gender neutral toilets across campuses to help you find where to go. Here's a screenshot of UP, QMC and Jubilee campus!! 😁😁😁
I don't care that it's been raining all day today because I have my first ever pair of prescription sunglasses which means I can actually see things this summer for the first time in almost a decade!!
@NicholasWerren
@MrNishKumar
No way is this the new underpants guy??!? This has bizarrely stuck with me for many years that someone threw all their pants out and the man turns out to be a neo nazi too. I'm done.
Happy Friday everyone! While I have my lunch out in the garden on the new recliner I thought I'd share some garden updates. First up we have the herbs and scotch bonnet which have grown lots the past few weeks! 🌱🌶️
7. The reasons men are under represented in nursing ("women's work" is seen as lesser and men not socialised for caring roles) are *vastly* different to those for trans and non-binary Nurses (discrimination and unsafe work environment). Do not conflate minority with marginalised.
@TheBMA
Brilliant to see this recognises by medics, especially acknowledging that making education integral is needed! Nurses, when is it our turn to follow suit?
Brought my whole self to work today, teaching on gender diversity for our CBT students by mixing my academic knowledge with personal experience for the class
We had some great garden news yesterday. Our first strawb of the year was ripe!! It was small but super juicy and delicious! Even better is there's more on their way too 🍓
I SUCCESSFULLY GREW A THING!

A - Always carry a black biro (or 5)
B - Be approachable for service users
C - Create protected time for supervision and reflection with mentor and staff
D - Do ALL the insight visits
E - Every day pick a new learning opportunity
F - Find confidence
G - Go after opportunities
Yes, they have identified some great points to work on and develop (including a few saying to be more confident so that's a key focus) but also lots of truly kind words that have made my week!!
Medicine student friend just text me saying she is watching the Sex Map of Britain ep about a pregnant transman "We are trying to educate ourselves in a way med school can't"
#TransHealthMatters
@theferocity
The comments on classicfm's Instagram post about Lizzo playing the flute were awful. Lots of 'why is a fat black women in a sparkly leotard playing the flute while shaking her butt?' with only a few 'isn't it great she is popularising classical music'
@DrStager
I'm not sure I could have done well WFH without these two for company over the past few months. Also no picture to share but my boyfriend was very good at making me leave the house and survive a supermarket trip when that wasn't happening
⭐️Research Opportunity for Student Nurses⭐️
I am looking for UK Student Nurses to take part in my study on LGBTQ+ Health Education in nursing using e-learning.
Full participant information available here:
Please share with any STNs you know too!
Sending off our 3rd year Student Nurses today before they start their careers as Registered Nurses. I am unbelievably proud of them all for making it through!💕🎉😭
Lots of fun today at the UoN open day representing Nursing with
@UoN_SHS
alongside my admissions colleagues and our super interns. I have very nearly lost my voice!
I couldn't be more impressed with our 3rd year mental health nursing students! The whole cohort worked so hard and did amazingly on the simulated acute ward for their Advanced Clinical Learning module🏅
Great fun to teach for
@McCandlish
and I too!!
@Sammantha___H
Same energy: There was a trans woman starting oestrogen who posted regular pictures of her chest to instagram to see when ig would start censoring her nipples
Despite having mental illnesses and being a MH nurse I often avoid mental health awareness week stuff because I find 'awareness' insufficient compared to acceptance, and too often it is focused on mild/moderate depression and anxiety. A thread 🧵
Today was my first ward shift in 4 months, back on
@TwoRedwood
. My nerves turned to anxiety about 11am and stayed until an hour into my shift BUT I went and had a really enjoyable shift! It was great to see my work friends and nice (for me) to have familiar patients
@girlonthenet
My boyfriend consoled me after many break ups and god awful dates before we became a couple 😅 I feel there's nothing I can do that would embarass me more than him saying "remember when you dated Dan/Kate/Ben/Joe"
