I often feel that true leadership emerges in challenging times of stress, financial hardship etc. If
@MichealMartinTD
was on the PUP of €350 per week and unable to support his family, the country would be closed to foreign travel weeks ago.
Happy 88th Birthday to our Father, Michael Flannery. One of the longest serving Publicans in Ireland as he still comes to work on a daily basis. Not even a pandemic can stop him. Happy Birthday Dad.
Cruises Street, 5pm on a Friday.
We have a serious problem in our City Centre that only major investment in policing and housing will solve. Retail will follow once people are living.
Low lie, The Fields of La Rochelle
Where once we watched the small free birds fly
Our love was on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing,
It's so lonely round the Fields of La Rochelle
Just the one arrest in Dublin Airport. Meanwhile a serving Garda is facing disciplinary action for the incorrect use of his vehicle’s blue lights.
We’re the softest nation on crime in Europe.
I’m just putting this out there now. The Freedom of Limerick for Dr Tony Holohan please. One of Limerick’s finest. Let’s make it happen.

Hard to believe our father, Michael, celebrated a milestone birthday recently when he turned 90. An inspiration to us on how to live a long, happy and healthy life.
His secret? In business since 1959,
he still comes to work every day.
Happy Birthday Dad!
Has anyone seen Micheal Martin this weekend? If so, can you tell him many members of his Cabinet & members of NPHET are drip feeding snippets about how we will live for the next 6 months. The very least our Taoiseach could do is address the Nation.
Closing our doors last night for the foreseeable future was an easy decision to make because it was the only decision to make for the health and well-being of our families, staff and customers. We will recover and welcome you all back but until then, take good care of yourselves.
What a great response we had to our “takeaway” offer that ran from 3pm to 8pm today. We nearly ran out of compostable drink holders! See you again tomorrow!

Yet RTÉ will not issue an apology regarding George Lee’s remarks that stated that Bars, the majority closed for over one year are still a cause of Covid infection.
And not a single mention from An Taoiseach of the Pub Industry which has taken the brunt of the restrictions for over one year. Where is the leadership?
Delighted to have been in
@milk_market
today to see the installation of this life saving Defib safely contained within an old P&T phone box (remember those?). For use within the Market and the surrounding area. Many thanks the team at Stryker for their support & generosity.
Following on from the very interesting aerial shot of the
@milk_market
area by
@Cooplafocal
, this picture from the early 1990s, shows just how far the Milk Market has come from derelict site to one of Limerick’s leading attractions.
Unfortunate to see yet more stainless steel bollards and poured concrete paths going into the Architectural Conservation Area that is Newtown Pery. The black cast bollards (outside my door) at least are a little more sympathetic and have the City Crest adorning them also.
The Government has dealt the hospitality a substantial blow this evening and I can fully understand the need to reopen schools on time. However true leadership would be the announcement of financial supports, not leaving thousands of families without incomes.

Hi
@LimerickCouncil
Any chance you could use this beautiful space as the location for the City Library? No need to build a new building on Patrick Street when you already lease this one.
Franciscan Church, Henry St. Limerick, was built in 1876. When the Friars left in 2008, it was gifted to the Bonaventure Trust,who, it appears could not find a use for it. Leased to City Council in 2014.Empty now for 14 years, The Church building is suffering from severe neglect.
NPHET recommend 5pm closure time for hospitality from Monday next. This will be considered by Government tomorrow. Also spectators at sporting and live events recommended to be kept to very low numbers.
Just two days until the announcement whether Bars can reopen or not on Monday next. New wage supports being cut by up to 50% with added layers of paperwork. Hospitality Businesses need bespoke Grant Aid to survive the next 12 months.

On a day when we normally meet friends and family here in
@FlannerysBar
we were taking down our Christmas Decorations. It was a very difficult & emotional day but the right decision for the public’s health and well being. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Huge day of sport today but the highlight has to be Delhi v Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. Previously Rishabh Pant put on a great batting display scoring an unbeaten 128 off just 63 deliveries so plenty of excitement in store!

Whiskey. A really proud day for us as Dad is one of the longest serving publicans in Ireland.
So the Country is closed up, every child is being schooled from home and some Hospitality Businesses are closed for over 11 months to help keep the virus at bay, and we’re still allowing International Travel?
Taoiseach opening this address by mentioning "appalling" behaviour at Berlin bar without any mention of very serious breaches at meat plants and DP centres isn't a great tone to set if he wants to emphasise how we're all supposedly in this together.
Great to see so many of our retailers reopening this morning. Now more than ever is the time to visit Limerick City Centre and support our own. Jobs, livelihoods and the future of our City are so dependent on the next few weeks!

Well done to all
@milk_market
today for a most welcome return to business. Very well run and strict adherence to Social Distancing protocols. Great to have you back!
Many thanks to
@peterodwyer1
of
@businessposthq
for covering the Government’s €16m support package for the 3,500 bars that are still closed. This measure, best described as measly and underwhelming will do next to nothing to help these Hospitality businesses
@MariaBaileyFG
Making a false insurance claim is not an internal party matter. You can dress this up anyway you like. Govt are tasked to reduce our high insurance premiums and members of that very body are trying to scam the system we want them to reform! You never seem to have got that?
Why is the emphasis on just Dublin? Every Irish city seems to be suffering from the same woes.
Lack of social order, lack of housing, poor police presence, unkept public realms, unreliable/ non existent public transport, retail closures etc.
Many thanks to

for affording me the opportunity to proffer my views on the

. It’s going to be a long and difficult road ahead for retail and hospitality but a lot more needs to be done especially for Bars that are still closed.

Well worth a visit and very nice coffee they serve there too!
Hey

I just had our Rack of Limerick Pork Ribs, smoked for 4 hours and finished with our House BBQ glaze with Burnt Sweetcorn, nude fries, Burnt End Beans and Hannifys Coleslaw.

closing it’s campus to public access but absolutely the correct thing to do. The beautiful grounds will still be there for our enjoyment when this is over.
