Collin Chandler just picked up 3 crystal balls for BYU. This would be a huge pickup for them. Chandler is an elite player and would set the new standard for BYU as they enter the Big 12.

I knew BYU would have a good defense but this is an incredible performance from them. Oregon can not get anything going. BYU offense has been very efficient and has not been afraid to go deep into the shot clock.

Another Great Day for the WCC. The conference went 4-0 again today. The conference has an 80% win rate at the moment. With the impressive non conference so far and some power-6 conferences struggling the WCC is putting itself in a nice position to be a 3 bid league.

On3 currently has Chattanooga transfer Malachi Smith as 99.9% going to Gonzaga. Would be a big commitment for Gonzaga as he is one of the top rated transfers this cycle. However, his commitment would lead to a crowded Gonzaga backcourt.

I am so impressed with Shantay Legans. He just knows how to get the best out of his players. The team is very unselfish and play a style of basketball that is fun to watch. The scary thing is that this team will return almost everybody next year. The rebuild might not be long.

This is an impressive performance from Santa Clara. TCU is a power five school with a player in Mike Miles that has all conference talent. They have dominated this game from start to finish. They are doing this without their star forward Josip Vrankic.

What an add by Pacific! Leonard Perry is on a roll! Perry was left scrambling when Stoudamire left late last off-season. With a full off-season to work with Perry has been aggressive these past two weeks. Pacific should be in a much better position this coming year.

It was obvious that Dom Harris was going to thrive no matter where he transferred. I am just happy he chose another WCC school. He was one of my favorite NBA prospects in the WCC coming into the year.

LMU’s Dominick Harris has been breaking out in 3 games so far The Gonzaga transfer has been leading his team in scoring(17 PPG) and shooting an efficient 63% from the field. Dom has always been a good shooter and has solid athleticism. first D1 season as a starter.

Interesting recruiting news about St. Mary’s in this Alex Toohey pjece by Theo Lawson of Spokemans Review. He states Rory Hawke from Australia has committed to St. Mary’s. I haven’t seen anything about this but if it is true that is a big commitment for the Gaels.

Robby Beasley brother of USF Freshman Ryan Beasley has joined San Francisco’s roster. Robby averaged 9.4 points, 3 rebounds, 1.2 assists while hitting 1.8 threes at 42.4% for UC Davis this past season. He gives USF more backcourt depth and a reliable 3 point shooter.

LMU is the only WCC team to be hit by the transfer bug so far. Ivan Alipiev, Gary Harris, David Elliot, and Mayoum Mayoum have all entered the portal. LMU has no incoming freshman so I expect them to be very active in the portal.

This is a fantastic hire by Stan Johnson. Romar was able to get high level talent to Washington and Pepperdine. LMU has struggled recruiting from the high school ranks but that should change immediately.

The highly rated Pepperdine freshman duo of Houston Mallette and Mike Mitchell were the bright spot of Pepperdine's game today. Mallette had 18 pts, 6 rebs, 5 ast, 3 stls. Mitchell had 11 pts, 6 rebs, 5 asts. They will relied upon heavily for offense this year.

Sad to see Santa Clara lose. They are the quality of a tourney team but they just did not do enough during non-conference to put themselves in the right position. I think Santa Clara kept non-conference losses to only 2 or 3 they would be hearing their named called on Sunday.

This is exactly the type of Preseason tournament that LMU needed to get into. Florida St is a Tournament team, SMU will be fighting for a spot on the bubble and Missouri would be a power 5 win. LMU could really build up their resume with a win vs any of these teams.

San Francisco is sloppy so far on offense with 8 turnovers in the first 11 mins. However, I love the defensive versatility they have with Kunen, Newbury, Mogbo, Mike, Hawthorne.

WCC Notes from 2/24: -Gonzaga has Villanova 2018 tournament potential. I can see them going to the championship and winning it without to much of a scare. -It would be a shame if San Francisco does not make the tourney. This team is so talented and it could win a game there.

-Gonzaga looked disinterested on defense. Got beat multiple times when being slow when switching out of pick and rolls. -What an Environment at the Pavilion. The Crowd was electric. -Mark Few did not trust his bench this game. Hickman and Sallis combined for 10 minutes.

That was a brutal game. Foul calls kept either team from gaining momentum. Saint Mary’s had poor late game management. Saint Mary’s still improved their stock during the tournament going 2-1 with wins over Notre Dame and Oregon.

Tarleton St did everything that the Zags do not like. They slowed the game down and were not afraid to go deep into the shot clock. They pressured Gonzaga guards and forced Gonzaga to shoot 3's. Gonzaga needs to clean it up on the offensive end.

Man this San Francisco vs Santa Clara game is a fun one. Both teams going back and forth with mini runs. Podz almost has a triple double and the San Fran backcourt is cooking. Santa Clara guards have been active defensively.

Pepperdine has landed the transfer of Boubacar Coulibaly from USC. Coulibaly is a Center from Mali that got limited time at USC. He was ranked 233rd by 247Sports in High School. Coulibaly and Basham will hold down the center spot for the waves this coming year.
