Crowning these kids at 15-16 years old is causing more damage than good. Kids don’t make it and at only 19, 20 years old they feel like a failure.
Start telling the TRUTH, not what they want to hear so you can stay in a child’s circle.
Adults gotta be better.
HS coaches, do your program and your players a favor. During these HS live period events play your most recruitable players.
The college coaches are there to RECRUIT.
They went to see recruitable players PLAYING.
These events aren’t for EVERYBODY.
Hard truth.
JaVale McGee is that AAU big you go get from out of town. He don’t really need to know the sets yall run. You just need him to run, jump and be 7 feet. ELITE AAU Big!
Platform Pioneer(s)‼️
You don’t have to pick just one when they are ALL good enough they ALL go.
Their competitive nature and this city made them compete against each other and everybody else.
Iron sharpens iron.
Same class, same city, 3 of the top 16 picks in the draft 🔮
Gentle reminder.
Coaches may be coming into your practices looking for somebody else and FIND you.
As long as they’re in your gym watching you have an opportunity to be seen too.
Take advantage of it.
A lot of these National kids wouldn’t be Nationally ranked if they played in Texas.
They’re ranked high because they’re playing inferior competition.
We take turns beating each other here.
So when we see y’all it’s light work.
Unsigned seniors. I have several coaches from ALL levels who follow this account. Post your Film, Test Scores, School, Height and Position in this thread. Time to be proactive in your own recruitment! I’ll help however I can!
I’ve talked to coaches from the SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Conference USA, American and the Lone Star this morning.
None of them asked about 2023’s.
ALL portal.
Unsigned seniors that can play should think about playing as much as possible this spring to be seen again.
I don’t understand how length and athleticism alone are seen as the most essential attributes when talking about potential.
I put more stock into young players that know how to think the game. Have an advanced feel and high IQ. Plenty of upside in being able to THINK the game.
HS live period events in June is one of the best things to ever happen to grassroots basketball.
Getting a school team eval and a summer team eval of a player in consecutive months gives players a chance to show different thing s and coaches to see different things.
Win Win.
Everybody wants to be a point guard but nobody wants to pass the ball from that spot.
If you’re a PG or your coach is letting you masquerade as one get off the ball man! Put your team in something, make a play for somebody else please!
Cason Wallace’s ability to impact the game in every facet was on full display vs. Kansas.
14/6/5/5/ on 4-7 from the field 4-5 FT’s and 2-3 from three.
ELITE level perimeter defender that can play on/ off ball because of high IQ, playmaking and shot making.
CONNECTOR.
2019’s everything you’ve done with a basketball as a kid has led up to these last 3 weekends in July. All the trips, money invested by your parents and workouts. These 3 weekends can change your life. Again I ask, who gets the scholarship? You or the person you’re guarding?
Thank you to EVERY parent, player and program that has chosen to participate in our events over the years.
Did a lot of reflection this weekend. It’s been a helluva ride because of all of you.
I’m forever grateful.

Excellent get for Muss and his staff that will probably give them the

recruiting class in 2022.

Fit is more important than level in college.
Fit is more important than platform in grassroots.
Fit> Anything else when making a decision about where you play.
Makes all of the difference in the world.
Talented guys can look regular because of the fit. Choose wisely.
Young people, cherish your parents and your grandparents. Enjoy the time with them as much as you possibly can. One day they won’t be here anymore and you’ll miss them greatly. Trust me. Family is the MOST important thing in this world. EVERYTHING else is second.
Kids, have fun playing this game. Don’t let the adults make this such a business for you, you can’t enjoy the game you grew up loving.
You can smile, have fun AND compete.
Life is short, enjoy these young years. Life will become a business soon enough.
Kids, be coachable. PLEASE‼️ You don’t have to talk back to the coach every time he says something. You don’t have to look off when coach is talking to you. Too many kids doing it and too many coaches allowing it.
Development should never be sacrificed in grassroots. You have a choice of who you play for. Choose development.
Platforms are only good if you’re continuously developing to perform on said platform.
The goal is to play after this, right?
Go where you get better.
Your circle is your ceiling.
Good people in the circle allow you to fulfill your potential
Bad people in the circle make it tough for you to reach your potential.
Most important piece of the circle.
Accountability.
There must be at least one person in the circle that is willing to get kicked out of it by telling you the TRUTH.
That means this person has their own life and don’t NEED you to eat.
They CARE. Keep THEM.
Tom Brady isn’t the most talented QB I’ve ever seen. Not even close.
Tom Brady is the best QB I’ve ever seen and it ain’t even close.
Being the most talented doesn’t necessarily equate to being the best.
Mindset, preparation and talent.
Talent alone is NEVER enough.
Bryce Cook has committed to coach Mudge and Sam Houston St.
One of the best PG’s in the country from the 2019 class.
Been a journey and still a journey.
Coaches. These Texas kids are talented and TOUGH. Whatever game you’re watching somebody from that state is better and tougher than most others on the floor.
Come get you one.
You don’t need to play 32 minutes with the ball in your hands to get a scholarship.
16 minutes or more making winning plays will get you what you’re looking for IF you have positional size.
Playing too much in the wrong role can get you exposed.
Vanderbilt, Texas, Purdue, Baylor, DBU, Georgia, Utah, Iowa St., TCU, Texas Tech, Colorado St., UNT, SMU among the several schools watching the games this weekend. Live period fellas, you gotta compete!
I see so many missed/ late kicks out to shooters in HS basketball man. Either dudes are blind or just flat out selfish. Dudes missing kicks and just running into folks in the lane and forcing bad shots. Simple game, pass to the person that’s open
Texas is so rich in basketball talent. In a year with little to no travel we are in great shape because of the level of talent right here in this state. Guys have said for years we don’t have to go anywhere for high level games. They are absolutely correct!
I can’t imagine the pain and agony those parents felt knowing that helicopter was going down and looking into their babies eyes trying to comfort them in those last moments. That’s what’s making me sick man.
Texas gyms being open during the pandemic really put this state in a different realm.
HS guys playing every weekend and college guys had access to open gyms and training while the world was closed.
Guys here had a real advantage and it’s showing at every level right now.
Gentle reminder to the program directors, coaches, trainers and whoever else is involved with these young athletes.
These aren’t YOUR kids. They have parents.
The parent/ player can make whatever decision they feel is best for them.
Good or bad.
Travel doesn’t equal exposure.
A lot of players and programs have been all over the country this spring/ summer and still have little to no recruitment.
Sometimes the smart play is local.
Especially when the local scene is NATIONAL.
HS seniors if you have a solid offer on the table it’s about time to take visits and make a decision. At this point you are competing against juco and 800 or so D1 transfers Coaches prefer guys that have already played college ball. Don’t play yourself and lose your scholarship.

ALL playing EYBL..coincidence or no? Each one of them deserving to be ranked in the top 100 IMO.
Unsigned seniors in the playoffs, find a way to win. The longer you play the more opportunities you get to be seen. Schools still need players in a major way. Better to be seen live than on film. Keep winning!
🗣YOU are not playing up when you’re a hold back and playing a grade ahead.
Example: If you are a current 6th grader and your original class was 7th grade playing in the 7th grade division for tournaments doesn’t qualify as playing “up.” You’re just playing your age group‼️
If your kid doesn’t have an offer in their sophomore year they are NOT behind! No need to discredit the ones with offers, doesn’t mean their better. Just gotta keep working. With or without the offers you gotta keep getting better.
Stop taking pictures and tweeting about guys who weren’t productive in the game you watched. I know they’re a prospect but if they didn’t play well just don’t say anything. Sends the wrong message to the player and the people watching the same game as you.

We don’t care what circuit you on. If you have PLAYERS we’ll put ALL of you in pools to compete to see Who’s WHO‼️
The PLAYERS’ PLATFORM.
Everybody that plays grassroots basketball is NOT a college prospect. Just because you played on a team doesn’t mean you’re supposed to be recruited. Hard truth. Why do you guys think only a small percentage of players get to play in college? It’s HARD at ANY level of college.
Many players will play their last game of the summer late tonight and tomorrow. Parents and players be sure to say a simple “Thank You” to your coaches. A lot of folk are away from their own kids and families in order to coach and support you this weekend. It goes a long way.
Coaches and scouts gotta be careful following the herd. Everybody can’t get the SAME guy.
Gym 7 Duncanville HS. There is a PLAYER in here.
One college coach in here watching.
That’s why he’s one of the best in the business.
Parents, players look at this. These are some of the best freshmen in the country. I don’t remember any of these guys being invited to a national camp, having a national ranking or having an offer as a sophomore. Didn’t matter, they kept working. Cream ALWAYS rises. Keep working!
BEFORE you pick a program you must do 4 things.
1) Honest conversation about ability.
2) Do they Develop?
3) Who’s the coach?
4) Will you get good minutes in a good role for your game
Platform won’t matter if those questions aren’t answered.
LISTEN:
Y’all remember hooping outside and to be a captain and pick teams you had to make a shot before the other kids? You had to do this just to be assured a spot in the first game of the day. You used to have to get picked by your peers to play. You had to EARN the right to play.
