Kid scores 100% on a retest... Only given a 70%. For what possible justification do we put scores in the gradebook that do not match what a student knows? There is no average time to learn something. Punishing students for taking longer to learn something seems archaic

We just assume students know how to Google search ... They don't. They know how to type words into a box but how to do it effectively and to analyze the results. We have to teach them.

I am a big proponent of using paper. being paperless is ridiculous, kids should touch something other than a screen. I put all DIRECTIONS online, but not all the activities are digital.

My dad is an engineer. Yes he COULD help me with math as a kid but that always ended in frustration. It was overly complicated. My dad is not a teacher. To expect that parents can teach for you at home is unreasonable and inequitable. #ditchhw

It is pretty darn PRETENTIOUS to think your homework is quality family time. Not only is it NOT, it adds significant stress to families. It's also grossly inequitable. #ditchHW I have 5 kids and both Ps work. We just want to make family dinner happen and that can be a struggle.

In other classes students will get boring, rote, too much, teacher lecture, paperwork, etc... IT IS NOT YOUR JOB TO PREPARE KIDS FOR THIS. You can not control the quality of learning in other classes, but in YOUR class you can give them an amazing experience.
