On 3rd Nov, 23304 Scots kids were absent for covid-related reasons. Wk ending 25th Oct, 731 kids tested +ve as did 1326 teachers & 880 school staff. @NicolaSturgeon claims there's no problem with our schools. @STVColin @GlennBBC @BBCDavidWL @willie_rennie Staff know that's a lie!

@dgurdasani1 @jasonleitch seems to 'forget' that schools didn't close in either lockdown. They stayed open for the children of keyworkers & those deemed vulnerable. His own wife is a teacher so she could enlighten & remind him of that!

Schools are apparently still in the 'recovery phase', yet LAs are, once again, demanding attainment data. How can attainment be achieved or how can we close the gap when 1500 Scottish teachers were absent last week due to covid related reasons? This is just not sustainable!

So for all of the people complaining about masks in schools, how many of them would be willing for their kids to jump through the masks & testing hoops so they can go abroad on holiday? Will they go to Spain, where they even have to wear a mask outside?? #WearaMaskinSchool 😷

@mark_mclaughlin @EISUnion This report is incorrect. . .class teachers can only attain level 5 on the pay scale & that stands currently at £42,336. Principal Teachers, Deputes/Head Teachers all earn more than that. As I always say to the children, check your work/facts before handing it in. 🙄

So according to @devisridhar on @GMB , Scotland is in a national lockdown so why then can we still go out and buy a cup of coffee from a national chain of coffee shops? Why then are all school staff, including #CEV staff being asked to return to work this week? Makes no sense!

I wonder what would happen if this situation was the other way around; 50+yrs teachers were the ones who infected school kids? Would staff still be forced to keep the schools open for the mental health of the kids? Or would we be out of school quicker than we can 'whistle'. . .

I have finally been blocked by our leader, Nicola Sturgeon. Obviously, she objected to my tweets complaining that our children are #SittingDucks in our schools. All I have ever wanted is #propermitigations in Scottish schools. It looks like she doesn't want to debate the point.

Just to correct the statement from @JonAshworth on @Marr , there wasn't a 'concern' about schools. There was a denial from most politicians that kids could get #covid & spread it. Schools weren't shut to protect staff & pupils, they were shut to #protectNHS

@RogersHistory I've been a Scottish teacher for 30+yrs & the situation in some classes/schools is just dire. The argument re covid doesn't stand up as the problem was becoming more apparent before the pandemic. Low-level behaviour not being challenged, LAs not supporting staff, no consequences
