attended to a shed that had blown into a neighbours garden in Grosevenor Crescent, Dorchester. Crews have secured the shed with lines and will be reinspecting later today for safety.
We are wasting valuable resources & money attending unnecessary calls regarding irresponsible disposal of BBQ's and out of control Bonfires.
And this also puts the lives of our Fire Fighters at risk responding.
Don't know how we can make it clearer. STOP the BBQ's and Bonfires
❗ PLEASE SHARE ❗
We urgently need your help!
The fire severity alert is now‼️RED‼️which means we need everyone to take extra care by not having any campfires or bonfires and only BBQ at home keeping it away from dry vegetation,sheds & fences.

With bonfire night on the horizon please either: Build your fire & burn it on the same day or build it & move it entirely before lighting. If neither is possible use a broom or a pole to lift from the base &shine torches looking & listening for any signs of life
@hedgehogsociety
Despite now entering day 10 at
#WarehamForset
, we have attended 8 Fires in the Open during the night, some of which were caused by disposable BBQ's in bins. Again, please, DO NOT have a BBQ unless its in your own garden at home.
PLEASE no Bonfires or unattended BBQ's, we are still very busy at Wareham Forest and so far today we have also attended 6 further incidents involving out of control outdoor fires. And when we talk about BBQ's this also means, please no indoor BBQ's - Carbon Monoxide Kills.
"More knobs, get me more knobs!!" The words of the official 2020 Dorset Knob eating champion, who is our very own Kate Scott!
When not gobbling knobs down, Kate is one of our consummate professionals on Red Watch. Nice noshing Kate, you've done us proud!

A crew from Warminster were mobilised to rescue a fox cub in Portway this evening that had got itself stuck within the brickwork of a wall.
@RSPCA_official
were also on scene to take care of the cub after its release.
1/2 Unfortunately this is not an April fools joke. We have just dispatched a crew from
#wareham
fire station to attend a fire in open woodland where a group of people were camping. They had two BBQ's alight and a campfire ready to be lit.
We'd like to say good evening, however with the number of calls to BBQ's & Bonfires we have attended in the first 1.5 hours of tonight's shift, it's not good.
In the Studland area alone we've extinguished in excess of 30 unattended BBQ's & 1 Bonfire
With a further 16 elsewhere
11th September 2001 is a date that will never be forgotten 2977 people died that day including 412 emergency workers 343 of these were firefighters. Thank you to everyone that turned out that day, and many many days after to help.

Tonight we bid farewell to Red Watch member Kate D who has worked in Fire Control for 22 years. We wish her well in her new fire service role. Good luck Kate 👍 🎉🍾

were happy to welcome the Chief into control for the day. He donned a headset and took admin and fire calls and mobilised crews to incidents. Most importantly he joined in with the onerous task of scone eating. We hope that he enjoyed his day with us🚨🚒🍰😀
A polite reminder that any

related incidents that you need to report need to be made to your local authority and not the fire service! Only incidents where there is risk to life or property will we attend

@DWFireRescue
I'm not sure if you are noticing a bit of theme this evening but we are mobilising crews to a lot fires in bins, or fires in the open. I know we are the Fire Service and we are here to put out fires but some of these could be avoided with a little extra time and thought
It's feeling like Groundhog Day in Fire Control this evening. We are receiving numerous calls regarding bonfires and smoke.
Please stop burning.
Many people have respiratory issues or even fighting the Coronavirus itself. And this is a huge waste of our emergency resources.
1/3 We don't want to ram it down your throats but our animal rescue team
@DWFRSPooleFire
are one of the best, baa none. They, along with the crew from Shaftesbury (which tonight included Crew Manager Mutton - no joke!), did a b-ewe-tiful job...
***UPDATE - UPTON HEATH 22:20*** We have one appliance remaining on scene and we will return tomorrow morning at daylight hours for a re inspection. Big Thank you to all attending crews for your amazing hard work in such hot weather today.
Since 6pm we have been called 18 times by people requesting us to come out because of smoke from bonfires or BBQs please can people think again before burning or having BBQs and if you cannot possibly avoid it then stay in attendance with water & let neighbours know.
Since 18:00 hrs last night DW FRS have handled

3 Domestic Fires
6 Alarms
1 Electrical Fire
1 Animal Rescue
1 Assist Ambulance
24 Repeat Calls
52 Bonfire and BBQ Fires, of which a further 11 calls were false alarms and not extinguished.
How cute is this 😍🚒
Clearly firefighting runs in firefighter Cook's family, as his daughter successfully responds to the on-call alerter📟, rescues the baby👶 & extinguishes the fire 🔥
There's a job waiting for you as soon as you turn 18 🎉👏

Tonight we're saying goodbye to Lizzie! Lizzie's leaving us after almost 5 years in control, stepping out from behind the screens to join
@RBFRSofficial
as an operational firefighter. She's been brilliant here in control and we know she's going to be amazing in her new role!
Always nice to get an apology after someone messes up a radio message. Officer in charge of the appliance concerned reminding his radio operator of the pump callsign! 😉
We currently have 8 Fire Engines in attendance on Westcliffe Promenade near to Bournemouth Pier. Please avoid the area, and if you're on the beach as you read this, please stay well clear and allow our crews to continue to work extremely hard to bring this fire under control.
There is still an ongoing fire at Ringwood Forest which is causing a large smoke plume. This is resulting in a general haze of smoke over the Bournemouth area. Residents are advised to close their windows and doors.

**PLEASE REMEMBER**
The Fire and Rescue Service will only attend to weather related incidents if they pose a threat to life and property.
Any incidents involving trees need to be reported to your local council highways department.
We had 47 calls to fires in the open over the course of the night! Many of these were unattended fires that could have easily been prevented. Please help us to continue to keep you safe by not having barbecues or controlled burns! 🚒🚨
Over the past 4 hours Dorset & Wiltshire FRS have received 21 calls for fires in the open. Nearly all of these have been bonfires that people are having and are not essential. This is wasting valuable resources that maybe needed to save lives
Exciting news!!! Dorset & Wiltshire FRS Fire Control will soon be looking for new members to join our team! Keep your eyes on our Twitter for updates where we will provide details of how to apply, offer loads of information and will be able answer any questions you may have
