UPDATE ON Marquel Anthony Carter (aka Plain Potatoes on social media)
He is facing 21 different sets of charges (harassment, trespassing, etc.) for videos of his interactions using hate speech toward dozens in Mount Vernon. Huge thanks to Det John Gregorio of
@BaltimorePolice

I have joined all of my City Council colleagues today in asking for the Mayorβs immediate resignation. This unprecedented step has not been taken lightly. Letter and statement attached.
Obama coming out hot in Philly about the Trump Chinese bank account..
βCan you imagine if I had a secret Chinese bank account?β
βTheyβd call me Beijing Barry.β
Packed house / sellout crowd to see
@billyjoel
at the 1st concert ever at Camden Yards. Amazing to see so many people downtown enjoying what Baltimore City has to offer!
If I wanted to play a practical joke on someone I didn't like, I would send them to Dick's Last Resort for a meal. They could suffer through a trashy, overpriced meal, with even crappier service. That chain garbage never belonged in our Inner Harbor in the first place. Bye.
The real crime is that it's 90+ degrees and the pools are closed. This is on BCRP. Don't blame young people for seeking opportunities to get out of this heat. Shame on all of us in City government for not insisting the BCRP open up every full on time.
@RecNParks
Several children were caught breaking into one of the many Baltimore City pools that remain closed with their gates chained. The break-in was caught on Monday. Footage details the children breaking in, setting up "camp", and entering the water along with a scooter.
Gov. Hogan's FY2023 budget underfunds Baltimore City schools by $99 Million. This directly contradicts State law and it's wrong.
He shares accountability for the success of our students. If you're concerned about our schools, implore the Governor to step up and do his part.
The third and final individual responsible for the death of Alex Wroblewski was just taken into police custody. Thank you to
@BaltimorePolice
@CommishKDavis
@MajorWard900
for your relentess efforts to quickly arrest these heartless criminals.
At about 10:29pm, one arrest made at the corner of E Baltimore and South St for shooting fireworks at BPD officers. The arrest was aided by a Baltimore community group who turned the man over to BPD.
An exciting day for Baltimore City and the entire NE corridor as President Biden visited today to announce the launch of the B&P Tunnel project.
It was a pretty cool day at the office!
The Maryland National Guard is NOT currently in the City on an active mission (other than the regular food distribution program). MD National Guard vehicles are being used to transport BPD personnel. City remains in close contact w/ Governor's Office & MD National Guard.
I'm honored to have been appointed by Governor Wes Moore to serve on the Maryland Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO) Board of Directors. MEDCO serves as a bridge between the public and private sectors to move Marylandβs economy forward. 1/2

The reality is that community violence intervention workers help communities be and feel safe.
Here are my thoughts on last week's Council Hearing where we witnessed two City Councilmembers use the Brooklyn Homes tragedy to play political games:
....As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place
In a few short years in office, I've seen a lot while knocking on doors... but nothing beats this:
@RobbynLewis46th
casually having a convo in French with a constituent in Sharp Leadenhall, discussing what I can only assume to be neighborhood concerns!
#OurDelegate
#Team46
McCulloh Homes low-rise residents didn't receive notifice of Boil Water Advisory (BWA) until today at 3:05pm. Grateful to Janet Abrahams & HABC team for promptly getting word out when we alerted them -- after DPW failed to inform HABC that McCulloh Homes is in BWA area.

Thank you to the voters in Baltimore City's 11th District. I'm honored to continue working with, and for you, over the next four years. A special thanks to all who volunteered & contributed over the past six years. We couldn't have done this without you!

I'm introducing legislation to cut in half the fees that third-party delivery services can charge on restaurant during the pandemic.
Thankful to
@MayorBMScott
and Council President
@Nick_Mosby
for their strong partnership and support on this bill.
What's that you might ask? That's a brand spanking new, two-inch coat of asphalt being installed, curb-to-curb, on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge on S Hanover St. Job will be completed on Monday AM Aug 20, this was a long time coming!
It's 5:23am outside of City Hall, early bird gets the worm.
And to the Internet troll from Federal Hill who said I don't do anything, let me know when you're ready to shadow me for a 16-hour grown-man work day. You're alarm is ringing in 3 hours. Get your weight up.

The first frame at newly renovated Shake and Bake Family Fun Ctr Bowling Alley is now in the books, a Strike, courtesy of yours truly! Great to tour facility with Ex-Officio Mayor
@prezjackyoung

has done to get this facility ready for our youth!
Daysia is filling in for Chris on my
@USPS
route this week since Chris is older and more susceptible to Coronavirus. There are lots of folks who have stepped up these past few weeks, including our local postal carriers, be sure to thank them from at least 6 - - - - - - feet away!
INNER HARBOR ALERT: If you are anywhere near the Inner Harbor, please be careful and STAY AWAY from the water. This picture was taken at 1:30pm and water levels are continuing to rise. Please be careful and STAY AWAY from the water, if you see water, go in the opposite direction!
Huge thanks to
@HomeDepotFound
for bringing out the army for a day of service today. Improvements at

Happy birthday to Baltimore's very own, Billie Holiday. Fresh flowers for the birthday gal!
Be sure to swing by and check out the best monument to "Lady Day", at the corner of Pennsylvania Ave and W Lafayette Ave in historic Upton in the 11th District!
Is anyone able to explain to me why it's 7:38pm on a Friday night and I am still working -- yet the Board of Elections is done counting for the day? What about the ~47,000 votes that were supposed to be counted today? Only 12,855 were counted and we still have ~50,000 to go?
Baltimoreβs vote counting is done for today. The total number of ballots counted today was 12,855. Director Armstead Jones says that brings the total counted to 93,609. He reports having fewer than 50,000 less to go. Canvas will start again at 9 am Saturday.
Strong showing at the Safe Streets parade on Pennsylvania Ave. Safe Streets is doing incredible work throughout our City to interrupt violence.
#StopShootingStartLiving
Another morning with yet another violent assault -- at least 49 occurred over the weekend citywide. This pattern of crime is terrorizing innocent people and needs to be addressed by BPD immediately.
Here is my response to Deputy Mayor of Public Safety:

βHistoricβ deal aims to keep Preakness in Baltimore; track owner, city reach agreement after 4 months of talks
Judah, it's not surveillance, it's reactive. It's a camera that automatically alerts BPD when it picks up a tag of a stolen vehicle. That expedites stolen vehicles being returned to their owners and ensures accountability for those who steal them.
The new traffic signal at S Hanover St & W Henrietta St is finally operational! Pedestrians can now safely cross the street and cars can turn safely on S Hanover. It took me about 5 years to accomplish, but it's finally done! Thank you

Someone tell
@RexChapman
that I'd rather listen to a former Kentucky Wildcat call the Indiana Hoosier's game than suffer through listening to Dan Dakich. There is no one as painful to listen to as Dakich. Not a single person. No one.

Well, a black man was murdered by police last week in Minnesota. So people all across the country in every major City are protesting this injustice any many others. It happened at 10:30pm, because people are willing to protest an injustice at any hour.
Rest in peace to Kevin "Butterbean" Vaught. He served with
@BaltimorePolice
for 34 years, was the community officer in the Southern District for years, a fixture on the Peninsula. Butterbean always had a joke to tell, brought a smile to my face, and was truly larger than life.
ATTENTION PARK USERS:
I am pleading with everyone one last time, please follow the temporary rules in our parks. I visited several parks in my district over the past two hours, and nothing was as horrible as what I saw at Riverside Park and Latrobe Park.
Baltimore's $2.9 billion budget would reopen all city rec centers on Saturdays -- something that has been needed for a long time and I am proud that we are finally accomplishing this.
ATTENTION PARENTS:
If your child lives in the 11th District, is 18+, & has ?'s RE: their Residential Permit Parking (RPP) situation -- please do NOT call my office. Your child is an adult & should reach out on their own. I promise I don't bite and I'll be happy to help if I can.
We helped deliver ten pallets of water to five high-rise senior buildings this evening in the 11th District / CW Baltimore in the Boil Water Advisory (BWA) area: Bolton North, City View at McCulloh Homes, Linden Park Apts., Marlborough Apts., and Zion Towers. (1/2)

Congratulations to my friend, the State Senator who I get to vote for every four years, and Maryland's next Senate President,
@SenBillFerg
! The State and the City are lucky to have you fighting for us!
Today marks the end of an era, Justin Lane's last day working in Baltimore City Council's 11th District Office. Please join me in thanking him for 6 1/2 years of dedicated service & also wishing him much success in his new role at BDC as an Economic Development Officer.
Dinner from Land of Kush, some of the best vegan you can find.
There are a lot of incredible black-owned restaurants in Baltimore City, especially in the 11th District, please support them! There are a few lists floating around, here is a good one:
Having the endorsement of Chairwoman Maggie McIntosh

Proud to join

Bathroom renovation completed! βοΈ
Over the past 2 weeks I spent a few hours at the end of each evening painting, installing new hardware, and building custom shelves in the cubbyhole and next to mirror. Unfortunately, no 90 degree angles in this house. Plotting my next project!
Please keep supporting our local restaurants as much as you can. Tonight's dinner is from Sammy's Trattoria in Mount Vernon. You can't tell that I'm smiling, but trust me when I say I am -- there's lasagna in this bag! Now let's go
@Ravens

This may be one of the best birthday gifts ever, an original yard sign that was posted the day before Election Day in 2016. Thank you for all the birthday wishes from family and friends and a Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Want to talk about what real commitment to the City of Baltimore looks like? Then Liam Davis has to be a part of the conversation. My man has been working his tail off at
@BmoreCityDOT
-- so much so that he recently changed his government name to "Liam Bridges".
NOLA opened up last night on E Cross Street in Federal Hill. This is my second night in a row eating dinner here. They just played jazz version of "Sexual Healing". I can't recommend highly enough. Go get you some Creole on Cross Street! βββββ

Councilman, wished you had called me first. I just finished renovating multiple rooms in my house by myself. I would have happily helped you hang the blinds.
Hi
@angi_home
Your technician showed up 25 minutes late, high as a kite. He smelled like a liberal arts college and momentarily got lost in my kitchen. Instead of fixing our blinds, he ripped them down and then asked me to help him get them back up. Can I have my money back?
Parking garage collapse at 1 E Pratt St. Initial report from the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is that there are no injuries. More info to follow as it becomes available.

We lost so many amazing people to COVID in Baltimore. Lemuel B. "Dee Dee" Thomas, whose life work was working with our young people at Robert C. Marshall Rec Center in Upton, was one of them. Today was a beautiful afternoon to celebrate his life, a formal memorial coming soon. π
The loss of Dante "Tater" Barksdale is devastating for our entire City. His efforts to curb violence over the past decade have gone above and beyond what virtually all of us were capable of.
Plz join
@MayorBMScott
, Dante's family, and the extended

family tonight
Hey
@mtamaryland

Huge thank you to the

Detectives Detectives who worked around the clock to have identified and filed charges in the murder of Tim Moriconi. An arrest has been made. Thank you to community members for overwhelming support to help get to this point.
