A few months ago I was in a meeting with City Schools students and a Comcast exec. The students told the exec that the speeds of Comcast’s Internet Essentials weren’t fast enough for them to learn. The executive insinuated that the students were lying or confused. They were not.

In 2019 Destiney Harrison was murdered in her salon. She was a mom and entrepreneur. She was everything we hope our kids will become. Today Destiney’s mom and I awarded 40 scholarships to students seeking to pursue a career in cosmetology. This scholarship is her legacy.

At the hearing on Squeegeeing. In addition to bringing together agencies, businesses, non-profits + young people, we should provide Universal Basic Income. When adolescents have experienced trauma + their basic needs aren't met, it's challenging to hold a job or learn in school.

Most Baltimore experience ever: I met Ariel who is a member of PopScope. They pop up around the city with a telescope. The goal is to bring people together around astronomy. I saw the moon from Mt. Vernon. Love this city!

Today Mayor Scott will swear in the Trauma Informed Care Taskforce. Elijah Cummings is smiling down at us from heaven. At the end of his life, when his health was faltering, when he was prosecuting the former President, Elijah called us to this work. We are part of his legacy.
