For more than a decade, the
#Seahawks
have emphasized undrafted free agency as much as any organization in the NFL.
How did they fare in the "dessert draft" this year?
@thorku
weighs in on John Schneider's latest impressive haul:
Pete Carroll should be on the phone with Brian Flores immediately. I don't know that he'd have any interest in being a defensive coordinator right now, but...
This can't be another Kaepernick situation. He can't be blackballed from the league for speaking out on real issues.
It's crazy that Tom Brady, with all of his accomplishments, never won a game in Seattle.
Played just one time at CenturyLink and got beat by rookie Russell Wilson.
Absolutely nobody should have an issue with Bobby Wagner potentially going to the Rams. Nobody.
The Seahawks made the decision to cut him. He's from southern California. He deserves to contend for another ring before he hangs up his cleats.
DK Metcalf almost looked surprised when Lock threw down the seam perfectly between slot and safety. It has been a while since a throw like that was completed on this field.
#Seahawks
Rashaad Penny indeed finished tied for the NFL lead with eight rushes of 25 or more yards with Colts star Jonathan Taylor.
Taylor had 332 carries this year. Penny had 119.
Russell Wilson earlier today on the Today show when asked about playing for the Commanders:
“Seattle is the place that I'm at right now, and I love it. It’s great man.”
I do my best to be strictly professional with my job, but there's not a better dude out there than Quandre Diggs. I'm selfishly hoping that he finds his way back on a new deal, but wherever he lands, his new team is getting a great player and man.
As much as the Russell Wilson trade worked out for Seattle, it would be interesting to see what last season would have looked like if Bobby Wagner was still on the team.
Potential
#Seahawks
offensive line...
LT Duane Brown
LG Damien Lewis
C Austin Blythe
RG Gabe Jackson
RT Trent Brown
That would probably be the best line Russell Wilson ever had in front of him...
Tyler Lockett is the only receiver in the NFL to eclipse 70 receptions, 1,000 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns in each of the past three seasons.
He's the only one.
#Seahawks
Russell Wilson confirms he put 49ers mascot "Salvadore Sam" in last week's scouting report to see if teammates were actually reading them. He says DK Metcalf caught it.
Out of respect for Russell Wilson, Drew Lock will wear
#2
instead of
#3
. Says he's eager to write his own story with a different number than he wore in college/Denver.
Rashaad Penny now has six runs of 25-plus yards. Jonathan Taylor still leads the NFL with eight such runs, and he's done that on 317 carries.
Penny has done it on 87 carries. 87.
Past four games for
#Seahawks
Ryan Neal:
-20 tackles, three tackles for loss
-Two forced fumbles
-One interception, four pass breakups
-One sack
-No touchdowns allowed, 51.8 passer rating against in coverage
-88.6 PFF grade, first among safeties
Antonio Brown can sign with the Bucs after his latest apparent psychopath tantrum, but Josh Gordon still hasn't been reinstated. I'm sorry, but that's so wrong.
Finally, a good angle of DK Metcalf's late hands mastery on seven-yard touchdown on Monday night. Banks was completely turned from the quarterback and had no idea a throw was coming that direction. Lesson learned from Tyler Lockett, the king of late hands.
I know it's become a broken record, but Tyler Lockett is the most underrated offensive player in the NFL. He'll never ask for it, but he deserves so much more attention from a national perspective. He's an absolute stud and an ever better human being.
Interesting comment from DK Metcalf on Jeff Okudah, who has played well against three very good receivers, including Vikings star Justin Jefferson.
"He's got a safety behind him, so he's not really locking people down."
It's insane typing this but... if the
#Seahawks
win tomorrow night, they will be one game out of the final wild card spot in the NFC.
One game. At 4-7.
Seattle shouldn't have Lockett on punt return regardless. You don't want him getting hurt on special teams. It's crazy to me Eskridge can't be utilized there.
Geno Smith's numbers targeting DK Metcalf last season were ridiculous... even in a smaller sample size.
17-21, 251 yards, four touchdowns, and a 151.6 passer rating when targeting him in four games.
Asking for prayers... I'm going to be taking a few days off with my wife undergoing surgery in Tampa and my dad now admitted to the hospital in Indiana with heart issues.
Really hoped '24 would be better, but so far, just more of the same for my family. Thank you for support.
I have Poona Ford down for SIX quarterback pressures last night. Dunlap had eight, Adams had five, and Collier had three. That's what you call a successful team effort.
Speaking with several players over the past few days, the unanimous consensus seems to be that the
#Seahawks
can put a bow on free agency by re-signing Bobby Wagner. Everybody wants it to happen.
Nwosu says the
#Seahawks
had the best offer on the table compared to other interested teams. Also said he's looking forward to playing in front of a "real fan base" and for coach Pete Carroll.
Seeing what Bill Belichick is going through in the post-Brady era, it makes appreciation for what Pete Carroll has done that much greater. Changing quarterbacks and maintaining success is difficult to do.
I thought Jamal Adams was offsides by a mile on first possession Sunday. But now watching again... 1) he wasn't offside and 2) the play clock was at :00 before snap.
It was an outstanding jump by the star safety. Sack should have counted or it should have been delay of game.
Geno Smith has been nominated for FedEx Air NFL Player of the Week.
#Seahawks
QB completed 78.8% if 41 throws for 328 yards and two touchdowns in overtime win vs. Lions.
Again, I feel like I have to say this every single week. Fans need to appreciate Bobby Wagner's greatness while they can. Dude is a baller. He was better this year than last year. Still an elite linebacker. Tough as nails.
Worth the contract he's getting paid and then some.
The
#Seahawks
have great interest in Deshaun Watson and really like Malik Willis. Both of those statements are true. Two vastly different contingency plans that obviously would be met with far different reactions from fans.
No details on potential years/compensation and a deal isn't imminent, but I'm told
#Seahawks
have opened negotiations with Pro Bowl safety Quandre Diggs with hopes of re-signing him.
Pete Carroll says he "would pound on the drum" for NFL to switch to all grass fields, says league needs to get back to discussing that with so many players going down with non-contact injuries.
GE-NO GE-NO GE-NO chants ringing in the stadium while Jerome Boger calls the Seattle Seahawks' coaching staff the Seattle Mariners. What a day to be alive.
THREAD: I wanted to take the time to give a special thanks to the 12s... Thank you for helping me pull through the toughest season I've had since I became a beat reporter five years ago. I can't say enough...
Girlfriend came home from the doctor a few hours ago in tears. But unlike previous times - they were tears of joy.
After a long road, she's
