Backing Richard Foord to win Honiton & Sidmouth and Paul Arnott for Exmouth & East Exeter
#GE2024
Thank you so much to everyone who has urged me to run in the Tiverton and Honiton by-election. It is clear though that the LibDems have the best chance of winning the seat and I have no wish to split the left of centre vote...
... We desperately need proportional representation, but until then I believe non Conservatives need to work together in progressive alliances and galvanise around the left of centre candidate most likely to win. Best of luck to the LibDems in this election!
Suspect voters wonβt be fooled by Labour/LibDem pact particularly in the South West. Exposes electoral weaknesses of both parties and their lack of appeal in parts of the UK
I work for a

Rough sleepers have nothing and no voice.
I predict that no charity will comply with her hardfaced cruel plan
The British people are compassionate. We will always support those who are genuinely homeless. But we cannot allow our streets to be taken over by rows of tents occupied by people, many of them from abroad, living on the streets as a lifestyle choice. 1/4
A MASSIVE thank you to

For the millionth time I'm wondering... how do MPs like Kate Hoey ever get elected? So many seem to have such a poor grasp of whatever subject they're being interviewed on, yet happily spout their ignorant opinions anyway. It's how we've ended up in the

BREAKING: Lib Dems GAIN Tiverton and Honiton
Lib Dems: 22537
Conservatives: 16393

can't come quickly enough!
The Exeter to Paddington train takes 2 hours 9mins.
My journey from S'hampton to Honiton today takes 2hrs 45mins. Why? Because of the partly single track. Billions have been ploughed into road building recently but a main train line into the SW has received nothing. It's not on

Simon Jupp is revealed as one of 18 Tory MPs writing to the Environment Secretary urging him to axe one of Natural England's remaining powers to protect nature.
We're one of the most nature depleted countries in the world, due to gov policy.
Just who is he representing?
Hard to imagine any of
@simonjamesjupp

. Seems altogether more likely he's throwing his weight behind this at the behest of some of his financial backers. What do you reckon

If this was a welfare claimant deemed to have been paid too much money, DWP would ruthlessly claw it back, resulting in acute poverty.

At the next election, local people face a clear choice - a strong Liberal Democrat champion fighting hard for our communities, or another silent Conservative who will always vote in his Party's interest. It's all to play for and every vote will matter.
Simon, they're not NEW police officers... we've lost hundreds of police because of austerity measures deployed by the Conservative government over a decade - and crime has risen as a result .... please don't spin

After East Devon's MP
@simonjamesjupp
blocked residents from commenting on his Facebook page yesterday, I issued a press release and have challenged him to a debate on the meaning of democracy.
It's not acceptable for MPs to be on transmit only....
I was unwell over Christmas and had to call 111 for advice 3 times. Twice I was informed I needed to talk to a doctor within an hour. It took 12 hours for a GP to call. The other time it took 24 hours.
They sounded exhausted.
Tory govts have done unforgivable damage.

I have written today to my MP,
@simonjamesjupp
, to ask him some more questions about the developing story of the bogus web links which dishonestly used the name of Lib Dem MP
@RichardFoordLD
to direct voters to Mr Juppβs campaign site. (Mr Jupp did not reply to my last letter.)
Just met the brilliant David Ireson, retired clergyman helping to run Opendoor in Exmouth. Providing essential help for homeless people, counselling, services for children etc, staffed by volunteers, funded solely by community donations...massive respect to their team β€
Itβs now five whole weeks since I first wrote to my MP,
@simonjamesjupp
, to ask him about the affair of the bogus web links which used a rival MPβs name to direct traffic to Mr Juppβs website. I have still received no reply. So today I have written to Mr Jupp for a fourth time.
Deeply disappointed to see that my MP,
@simonjamesjupp
voted for weaker not stronger controls on
#sewage
in rivers and coastal waters, ignoring dozens of his constituents and a briefing from
@DevonWildlife
warning that the River Otter beavers may be at risk from effluent. Poor
Carol Vorderman isn't going to forget, is she!
I wonder how long Mr Jupp will try and hide?
The longer he cowers the worse it looks and the standard Tory 'ignore' tactic is failing.
Dirty tactics?
Has anyone heard back from Tory
@simonjamesjupp
as to whether or not he or his staff commissioned, or if he knew about, false URLs of his rival Lib Dem
@RichardFoordLD
leading directly to Jupp's Tory website?
@theipaper
I remain blocked by Jupp for some reason
I remain concerned at the anti-protest tweets yesterday from Alison Hernandez, PCC, who is up for re-election on 6 May. She MUST urgently set the record straight. 1. Apologise to
@ExeterCycling
2. Reassure Devon residents that peaceful protest is supported by local police forces
East Devon's MP, Simon Jupp was one of those MPs voting for his constituents to become poorer.
Perhaps you'd like to explain to us Simon, why you voted to protect gas and oil companies? π€

Blatant blackmail from the Trump administration over the UK's position on the Iran nuclear deal v a trade deal. The weak Johnson immediately caves in. I swear that even the hardest rightwing Tory MP will profoundly regret becoming a grovelling servant of that dictator

Wow. Of the Β£6.5 million or so of the large donations and loans received by political parties in the first week of the campaign, the Conservative Party received Β£5.6m of it, or 87%.
Really disappointed with Martha Kearney's interview with Kier Starmer. She's barely allowing him to get a sentence out, yet he remains very polite. Tory MPs become aggressive if they're interrupted even once and BBC journalists react by staying silent
