Polkadot Lou will now be looking over my shoulder forever. The biggest lie he ever told me was the day we adopted him. He said he’d never break my heart. Please give you pups a hug today. Tomorrow isn’t ever guaranteed for any of us.

Happy 100 to Margaret Henderson of NW DC. She’s the mother in law of my high school band director. I can only hope to look this good and be so sharp 46 years from now on my 100th.
What WAS I thinking?!?! I went to the grocery store yesterday afternoon and caused a near panic. The weatherman with 2 gallons of milk, 2 loaves of bread and 2 dozen eggs. Quantities reflect the emptiness of the kitchen not the amount of snow expected.
CODE RED air quality alert today. The National Cathedral is barely a mile from our tower camera and it is shrouded in a smokey haze this morning. This is the poorest air quality in the DC area since 2011. Limit your time outside as much as you can today & Thurs.
@nbcwashington
Not sure what I think about this. A healthy dog euthanized so that it could be buried with its owner. I am as bonded with my dogs as anyone and would rather they live the full length of their lives than have their lives ended just because mine did.
Welcome home Lucian! We’re all super excited to have you here. Even mama I’zah is glad for the company... and having a puppy to blame for everything that goes wrong.
#puppylove
Yes. I’m wearing 👖 And 👞 just as if I went into the station. Why? Because I believe that when you take your job seriously, those watching you do your job will take you seriously. And because it’s a healthy routine.

Don’t worry
#Polkadot
Lou. We got you.
Your dads are going to make the hardest decision any spoiled-dog parent ever has to make today. You’re too good of a dog to continue this never ending battle against severe epilepsy and seizures.
Is there such a thing as "perfect" weather? I think there is and I think that today is a very good example of it. Just look at this picture from the tower camera here at
@nbcwashington
in NW DC. Not a cloud in the sky. Temps in the mid 70s with nice, low humidity. 10 outta 10!
Say what?!?!?! Snow? In DC? Yes. Maybe. Next Tuesday will be exactly 2 YEARS since DC had its last full inch (or more) of snow on a single day. For now, the snow drought clock stands at 725 days! DC's chances for an inch of snow next week: 10% and climbing!
This is why we've moved away from calling it global warming and started saying climate change. In all fairness though, 18" of snow in DC at the end of April would be better described as Nuclear winter.
Introducing Kyle… our newest 4-legged family member. He’s 18 months old and sweet as can be. He’s loving the sunshine today and ready for a walk.

What a beautiful winter morning here in
#WashingtonDC
. Some areas of fog in the sheltered valleys and near the Potomac (shown here) and the Bay. Many of you will have to scrape some frost off your windshields this morning. Seat heaters on high.
@nbcwashington
You got everything, Lou? Scarf, raincoat, good boy collar ? Don’t worry, You won’t need your leash anymore. Heaven is a long way up but it only takes a second to get there.

Get up you lazy bums. It's 6am and the sun is already up and shining brightly into Washington, DC. This will be a day that you can enjoy all 14 1/2 hours of daylight with temperatures almost 10° cooler than average. Have a great day.
Here we go. The DC snow drought is ending! Tomorrow (16Jan2024) is the 2 YEAR anniversary of DC's last full inch of snow. Here's my forecast totals for this event. This includes the snow we already have + the snow we get tonight. And easy, brush-able/sweep-able snowfall.
Poof.

we’re off work & on vacation. It’s the lucky 7 year anniversary trip. I’d sure say “yes” all over again. Our carriage awaits! 10 hours & 45 little ole minutes (4800mi) from
@Dulles_Airport
to paradise. First trip in 3 years. Aloha!
THE STARS ARE COMING INTO ALLIGNMENT FOR A MAGICAL NIGHT IN WASHINGTON. IF YOU'RE HEADING OUT TO WATCH THE GAME TONIGHT THE WEATHER WILL BE NEAR PERFECT. WHY AM I YELLING? BECAUSE I'M

@CAPITALS
QUEST FOR THE CUP COULD END TODAY!
What’s that I’m wearing? It’s not the 🇫🇷 French flag. The stripes represent global temperatures from 1850-2018. From blue to red we’ve measured a steady rise due to the release of heat trapping gases like CO2. America needs to lead in the search for clean, renewable energy.
Whether the cost of the parade was $29M or $92M doesn't matter. We could honor our wounded veterans better by spending those millions on THEM in the forms of PTSD treatment, prosthetic limbs, Physical Therapy or suicide prevention.
Ummm sure. Why not. I just like that corporate brands can be both serious and playful while trying to gain traction and build up their brand. I lost count of how many

packages I bought when I was in and just out of college.
Welcome home Lucian! We’re all super excited to have you here. Even mama I’zah is glad for the company... and having a puppy to blame for everything that goes wrong.

Congratulations! What a wonderful young man with one heck of a life story. He was a sanitation worker putting himself through the

,then getting into and now graduating from

Law School!!! Hip, hip hooray for him!
Congrats to Rehan Staton! He's a former sanitation worker from MD, who just graduated Harvard Law School. While at Harvard, he founded a nonprofit to give back to the school's support staff. Can't wait to share his inspiring story tonight

@NBC10Boston
I have finally reached my woke limit with corporate America. The big wigs at m&m's are focusing on the "personalities" & "traits" of the colors - OF CANDY PIECES! Just stop. Your ruining my love for your product. Just like with actual people, all that matters is what's INSIDE!
Another incorrect prediction from
@MrTonySays
! He said, when
@SheenaParveen
arrived in January 2017 that I was on my way out. WRONG! After a short but wonderful 21 months together she's heading to sunny San Diego. I'm staying just to be a pain in Tony's side.
@JerryNegrelli
Please, if you are considering a pet…this is how my rescue dog,Honey,greets me every time I get home.She was left in a park at 8 years old. We adopted her this past summer.She doesn’t care what kind of day I had a work,she just wants to love me & I love her ❤️❤️

Thanks to all my
@nbcwashington
coworkers who went out of their way to help make my 52nd birthday feel more like my 32nd. Growing old is not a privilege that is afforded to everyone. I am grateful.
Happy birthday
@ChuckBell4
! You’re fun, friendly to all and full of hilarious sayings. Our mornings wouldn’t be the same without you - so I got you this cupcake. 😂🙌🎂 Also, because of my bad hair day, I made you take this photo alone and you were a sport...
@nbcwashington
Where's the Washington Monument? It's only 5 miles from our tower camera and plainly visible most of the time - including just an hour ago. Not anymore! Wildfire smoke has blown back into the area from Canada and will leave us with CODE RED air quality all day.
@nbcwashington
What an inspiration! For anyone who's thinking they "Can't" run a marathon. YES YOU CAN! All it takes is dedication, perseverance and an indomitable spirit.
@runnersworld
INCREDIBLE MARATHON MOMENT. Alex Roca is a marathoner who has cerebral palsy. He writes: "I MADE HISTORY! 1st person in the WORLD with a 76% disability who has managed to finish a MARATHON: 42, 195 km. This has been possible thanks to ALL my team."
There just aren’t words to describe how much I love this organization. They are, quite literally, where the rubber meets the road on families dealing with life’s greatest challenges - kids with cancer.
More to come on all the differences they make.

Love those colors! Violet, blue, red, pink, indigo and magenta all making our pre-sunrise sky worthy of a stare. Better enjoy these colors now because there is a lot of gray coming your way today. Join me on News4Today for the weekend forecast.
And when I'm elected
@POTUS
my first executive order will be to put limits on when holiday decorations can be put out. No more than 60 days before the given holiday.
So proud of the size of my
#workfamily
that turned out for
@capitalpridedc
on Saturday. I’ve been at this station for 15 years! My life is 1000 times better, happier, fuller and more fulfilling than I ever could…
Snow? Yes. Accumulations? Not really. Certainly not on paved or treated surfaces.
That’s outside.
What’s happening inside? Let’s take a look.
Hint: the 2 dogs that will lay on the driveway, in the direct sun, on the 4th are surviving the cold just fine.
No matter which model you pick, heavy rain is coming Sunday night into Monday morning. First pic is the American model. European is second. They both deliver around 2.5" to the DC Metro area. That would be one of the top 10 heaviest December rainfalls on record in DC.
Holy snowflakes, Batman! Our 4th chance for snow in DC in the last 4 weeks. The trend in the forecast models has been upwards so I have moved our forecast up a notch. Yesterday I forecast 1" to 3". Today it's 3" to 5". Yesterday 6" looked unlikely. Now there's a 25% chance.
That is the very spot where I met my (now) husband back on August 13, 2005!
Once I retire and write my autobiography it will be titled "Shirtless On The Dancefloor: A Gay Love Story"
Polka dot Lou, escaping the steely bonds of 🌍 Earth and racing into heaven has apparently caused quite a stir. Storm rotation now fading. Storm heading off shore. Palpable sense of ease and release on all fronts.
Have we EVER earned this! Sunny days, low humidity and a chance to dry out and re-group. Most of your Labor Day weekend will be mild and dry though there is a risk of some rain showers on Sunday afternoon. Best of all - NO 90s IN SIGHT! Meteorological Autumn is HERE! Enjoy.
Do you see it? I am convinced that Mother Nature has drawn a heart in sky for this
#ValentinesDay
. Please tell me you see it. Or am I failing this Rorschach too.
The pre-sunrise sky over
#WashingtonDC
is a beautiful shade of
#CherryBlossom
pink. Peak bloom is HERE and should last through Thursday. Sunrise is 6:52 today but wind chills are in the low/mid 20s so bundle-up. High today only 52 with chills near 40°.
Pretty as a picture. No filter needed to make
#WashingtonDC
look good. Sunrise is almost here and the first rays are now lighting up the underside of the clouds. Plenty chilly now, but highs in the low/mid 60s coming your way this afternoon.

WEATHER ALERT from

for your Friday. Winter weather ADVISORY issued for 4am-7pm Friday. Not a major winter storm. Most of our viewing area will be in the coating to 3" range. Snow begins before sunrise so school delays/cancellations LIKELY.
Some fun facts for

about the SR-71 Blackbird at the
@smithsonian
How fast is FAST? That plane in the museum flew from LA to DC in 66 minutes! with an average speed 2190mph! and had a max altitude of over 80,000 feet! Most commercial flights average 500mph

The wait for nice, fall weather is over. I am 99% confident that DC's next 90° day will not come for at least another 6 months. We're continuing to shed 2 1/2 min. of daylight per day. 12hrs, 1min, 3 sec on Saturday and 11hrs, 58 min, 33sec on Sunday. Make every second count!
Now I don't want you to be alarmed but tomorrow a big, bright shining object will appear in the sky. It will be up there for more than 11 hours. We've seen this kind of thing before - it last appeared 5 days ago. It's called the sun.

to our crazy Kyle who is turning 2 today. He’s been with us for just 5 months and has totally blended right into our daily routine. I had no idea that he was such a porky pig as a puppy.

We continue to add 2 1/2 minutes of daylight to each and every day. Thanks to the return of Daylight Saving Time, our sunsets will go past 7pm in less than 2 weeks. Best of all, we get 3 1/2 months of sunsets 8pm or later starting on May 1st.
@nbcwashington
Not too shabby for a Thursday morning. Sunrise is at 7:18 today. The Spring Equinox doesn't occur until Monday but tomorrow is our Equinox day here in DC with sunrise and sunset both occurring at 7:17.
@nbcwashington
The knuckleheads are 5 years apart to the day. They turn 8 and 3 on April 1st. I love having 2 dogs. The older one teaches the younger. The younger keeps the older active and they keep each other company.
