In response to a bunch of posts on social media asking why we (DC) issued permits for today’s protests: WE DIDN’T! Freedom Plaza, the Ellipse, etc. are federal property, and permits are issued by the National Park Service.

Effective today, DC’s minimum wage is now $15. It has increased $0.75 to $1 a year on this date, every year, since 2016. Moving forward, increases will occur each year on July 1, & be tied to the Consumer Price Index.
