Well that’s it! I’m a first class honours graduate in Bsc Paramedic Science! So proud of all my course mates and thanks for the continuing support

18 months since finishing my Bsc, today is my first day as a level 7 student!
Only Paramedic on the course but looking forward to getting back into some academic study 📚

Really enjoyed having Lauren a second year
@UoLNursing
student out with us today! We’ve had a good mixture of jobs and tricky extrications for her to observe, nice to see a variety of students showing interest in the service 😊
@UoL_CSS
Today I participated in a powerful conversation about the treatment of Women within the ambulance service. Amazing clinicians will leave the profession if the current culture of sexual harassment continues. Thank you to everyone who participated and those pushing for change! 💚
Fed up of hearing the term ‘zero-tolerance’, from lived experience in the ambulance service it’s zero-tolerance towards victims
Victims don’t speak out because nothing changes and why would you if you’re going to be treated differently/targeted with late finishes?
My final day on campus as a
@UoL_Paramedics
student, presenting my rapid evidence review findings, really interesting to hear such a variety of research from the cohort 😊
University of Lincoln have just formed a student paramedic/technician society
@uol_paratechsoc
lots of great plans in the making, would appreciate anyone who follows 😊
What an amazing seminar held by
@FlippinPain
tonight at the University of Lincoln!
Definitely changed my perceptions of living with persistent pain and helped me understand how I can help within my role in the ambulance service 🚑

The jump from level 6 to level 7 academic writing is very humbling!
Two years since my undergraduate degree and getting back into academic writing has been a shock to the system 😂
This is a photo of my year 7-9 tutor, she was the first person who knew I wanted to be a paramedic, I had a super rough time at school and she got me through, now I’m weeks away from registering. I think about her loads so a big thank you to her on

💚😊
Had a great day assisting with the First year student paramedics and technician cohorts final simulation of the year, it’s nice to see how their practice has come along!

Amazing opportunity last week to teach 30 girls basic first aid inc. AED use & good CPR.
So proud of my gym to host the ‘Strong Girl Squad’ a girls-only weightlifting workshops which I have been volunteering for.
Thanks to technician Josh for helping me too!
@EMASNHSTrust
Amazing support from the public during
#ambulancestrike
today, I attended 4 patients today all reached within the response time, we are still working and seeing patients who truly need us!
Love this video of my crew mate and i dispelling the myth that we’re not responding! 🚑
Sadly unsurprised by the undercover ambulance documentary tonight, funding aside I hope this also highlights how many incidents don't require an emergency response and the knock on effect this is having on response times.
Soemthing I feel very strongly about and I am so proud to be involved in this project and can’t thank every single person behind this enough.
it’s time to change

I spent yesterday on a CPD day organised by EMAS at Peterborough City Hospital observing 3 very different and insightful autopsies, it was a great learning experience that I would recommend to anyone and thank you to the PHC staff you were very accommodating and knowledgable.
Solidarity to every person in the ambulance service who is choosing to strike today, don’t let the media fool you that this is about pay and not patient safety.
I’ll be joining the picket line on the 28th, it shouldn’t have come to this but enough is enough 💚
Really enjoyed my first 2 days teaching on the
@UoL_Paramedics
course with the 2nd year cohort. Enthusiastic group and really welcoming!

Very much needed and massive thanks to

the society well-being officer for organising it 😊🚑
Great induction session today for the

Student Council
With the first ‘official’ meeting in a few weeks time I’m really excited to see the positive changes we can implement! 🚑
After a really tough week I’ve taken the weekend off from university work and went for breakfast with my housemates, we’ve been to a cafe where all the staff are recovering addicts and the profit goes back into helping them, why aren’t there more places like this!
Happy

to every colleague, teaching staff etc. who’s helped me along the way, you know who you are and I can’t thank you all enough, legends 💚
Breaking up my studying with a quick workout before my night shift later! Mindfulness is key and the gym really helps me during placements 🚑

As someone who came into the profession as a school leaver at 18, do I think it’s for everyone, no I don’t but I’m a big believer that age does not equal ‘life experience/skills’ I’ve found my age an advantage in many situations and I think it’s a case by case judgment
Task one of my day... ECG lecture and revision ❤️ ECG interpretations are something I’m really trying to improve on over the next few weeks to improve my assessments whilst on placement 🚑

Another school holiday club complete for the ‘strong girl squad’ always rewarding to volunteer a bit of time to teach these girls weightlifting, such a great HAF club 🏋️♀️
@Amy_Hbs
Something I feel very strongly about! No OSCE can prepare you for the first one and too many scenarios take place in textbook situations with lots of room and a ROSC being achieved
@AmboManJake
I’ve said it before that sexual harassment isn’t gender specific and I too have seen behaviour that’s inappropriate form both sides, the whole culture needs a shake up and the investigation side of it needs improving then anyone would feel more comfortable speaking up
@leddy___
Preach 🙌🏻
Even worse, rather than nothing happening I’ve seen them be protected more than victims so why bother?
Why name someone who has been inappropriate for nothing to happen and for you to still see them daily?
Floored system and I can’t help but be pessimistic
@OcoRory
We need some more people like you Rory to be honest! Despite my outspoken words I’ve been impressed with
@ParamedicsUK
response
Emails on trust strategies and helplines but no one will actually come and hear/witness what’s happening on stations
@alex_pstockwell
I’m not one for reflection but I try think critically about genuinely what I could have done better, how can I implement them changes next time and is there anything I need to go away and read up on 😊
“A conversation on the topic”, trying to find a male World Cup finalist goalkeeper who’s had to have conversations on why their shirt should be on sale…
@LukeKireia
It’s the ‘Principles of Care of the Acutely Ill Adult in the Critical Care Environment’ loving it so far, I’ll hopefully complete another module at DMU for a PGcert in professional clinical practice, funded my EMAS as well 👌🏻

Thank you! I’ve tried to find her details to reach out privately as I don’t think she realises her impact and how she kept me in education so this is my way of thanking her, probably a lot of people with similar stories and this is why I have so much respect for teachers!
