Just left Wembley en route to Trafalgar. There were no mounds of litter, no overwhelming stench of urine, no trampled barriers. My children came last night and any anxiety I had ended when I experienced the beautiful family, happy atmosphere. Can it always be like this, please?
Just arrived at the Al Bayt stadium for England’s game and my cameraman, wearing the rainbow coloured watch strap his son got him, was stopped by security and refused entry. Clearly the message from FIFA is STILL not getting through.
So many people here citing Zaha not kneeling but I’ve never once seen him actively boo when his fellow pros have done so. You can disagree with politics in football all you like but actively booing someone’s decision to kneel for racial equality is just plain ignorance.
Lineker: you said 0-0 would be a good result for Utd
Hargreaves: yeah as long as PSG don’t score.
And yet it’s female pundits who are being hammered this week?
A young woman just forced past me and my 3 yr old on a bus to our plane, causing my daughter to fall. She then proceeded to shout at ME about MY lack of patience. She’s now sat in front of said 3 yr old for the next 2 hrs and is about to get no peace. That, my friends, is karma.
Today’s final was memorable for many reasons. But having fans back isn’t without issues. Today my crew were harassed because they work for the BBC, a man shouted sexual obscenities at me while I was reporting live and I saw a disabled man being pushed over by a large group. Sigh.
The World Medical Association is reminding doctors around the world NOT TO PLAY ANY PART in issuing medicine to female athletes to bring them in line with the IAAF’s testosterone lowering rules for DSD athletes. Just think about that for a minute.
Thinking of Emma’s parents right now who can’t be with her as she won her first slam. They must be absolutely bursting with pride, I can’t even imagine what they must be feeling.

Really disappointing that Sharron tweeted this without checking that BBC breakfast actually HAD covered the swimming. When people tweet these ‘bet the BBC won’t cover this’ type tweets, you can bet the BBC has covered it in some form. It’s constant and it’s tiresome.

This is what happens when you leave your kids for 3 weeks. While his English wife has been away, my Colombian husband and his family have ensured my children are now solely supporting 🇨🇴 , despite being born in and living in England. Tuesday will be interesting.
My kids tried to FaceTime me - twice - today while I was live on BBC Breakfast (even though my iPad was on AirPlay it picked up a random WiFi signal). Cue kerfuffle on air. Called them back to see what was so urgent. They wanted to show me their new fidget toys. Cheers for that.

Suddenly the Cummings are the only parents with an autistic child.
Thousands of parents with autistic children have stayed at home. In flats; with several kids; sick with Covid; with little income; lost jobs; single parents; without support; they have followed the rules.
He’s been taking English lessons and last night he showed me how they’ve paid off. Kylian Mbappe is a genuinely impressive young man with a social conscience - he’s launched a charity to help kids across Paris achieve their dreams 👏
Today’s Italian newspaper racist headline is a reminder of just how ingrained the problem is in the country. ICYMI, here is the beginning of my piece last night with the undercover footage from inside the Stadio Olimpico at Lazio V Celtic last month.

Everyone on this beach thinks I need help after I launched myself into the Med, whooping and hollering, but I don’t even care. Listening to that incredible stand by Stokes on

We are now in. To their credit the Qataris have set up a hotline for crews experiencing problems, this managed to help us eventually get past security.
My youngest wants to wear shorts for sport camp today and asked me if I was going to wear shorts too. I said “no, mama doesn’t wear shorts, I don’t like my legs.” She replied “why not? Your legs do everything for you.” The lesson here is wear the damn shorts.

There can’t be a single England fan, surely, who truly believes taking the knee is linked to a supposed Marxist movement when footballers have spent a year explaining it isn’t. Any ‘fan’ who boos and then claims that’s the reason is simply ignorant, stupid, or both.
When the players take the knee, to them, it is solely about the issue of racial inequality. Anyone claiming they are booing it for any other reason is imposing their own meaning, that isn't there for the players. It makes it all the more inexplicable.
England’s 2-0 victory over Germany in the last-16 stage of Euro 2020 attracted a peak TV audience of 20.6m and 80.1% of viewers available at that time. Begs the question - what on earth were the other 19.9% watching??
Being serious for a moment, it is starting to get dicey out there. Everyone has gone way too soon. Could be awful if England lose tonight. Many are here for the atmos, without tickets. If you were thinking of doing the same, avoid, stay safe, stay home.

You know how all these correspondents are doing lives from their perfectly tidy lounges with immaculate book cases? Well I’m keeping it real with you - I’m a mess. Also still in yoga pants, ‘cause stretchy. Going in for my 3rd slice of banana bread now.
Can Piers Morgan unbunch his panties for one second to understand that 007 is merely the agent number and will now be played by a woman, in the same way M has been over the years, but James Bond will remain a male because HIS NAME IS JAMES. Honestly, this man...
Southgate is such a class act. On Delph flying home for the birth of his 3rd child he said the older generation might not agree but family is more important than football.
Around 200-300 fans at Stamford Bridge at the moment but all seem to be more concerned with singing about Spurs than the match at hand. It’s just like the old days (excuse the bad language)
My cousin had her second baby yesterday and her new daughter came away with this hat. I didn’t realise they were doing this in hospitals but it’s just TOO cute
The last time I was in Kyiv was for the Champions League final in 2018. Liverpool fans had a nightmare getting accommodation but many kind hearted locals took them into their homes and gave them shelter. I often think of their warmth. This is utterly incomprehensible.
Do not give oxygen to persistent twitter trolls, do not RT people who don’t understand mental health, especially do not RT someone who stropped off a breakfast show because he didn’t like being challenged …

How good is Lucy Ward on BT Sport? Not just telling us what we can see with our own eyes, like some, but explaining how and why. Really enjoy her work.

You mean that actual journalism won out over whipping out his Facebook picture and thinking it’s a gotcha for clicks? Well colour me shocked.
I’ve been a big advocate of VAR for a long time. But I think this World Cup has been ruined by it. It really is starting to take the joy out of goals and I don’t know what the answer is. You can’t put the genie back in the bottle, but it’s killing the moment.
Just to clarify then - the media shouldn’t take photos or report on the assistant who has walked around in front of cameras with a team sheet? I’m just confused of our role here, I left my pom-poms in London.
Kyle Walker backs his manager on team sheet leak and tells media: “If you guys just try and keep it to yourself and don’t bring it out, because it’s not going to help us. All the world has seen that team now but you guys have to do your little bits.”
Tom Daley just told me he’s maturing like a fine wine or cheese and even though he’s now got Olympic gold, he likes the way it feels. Paris could be a goer.

Beautiful wall at Tokyo airport asking visitors to leave their fondest memories of the games. It’s been the strangest Olympics, one I’ll never forget, but the warmth of the Japanese people will stay with me forever. Pirks, out.

“Jordan Henderson is captain of the Champions League winning side of 2019. THAT’S satisfying.” Klopp, when asked what was most satisfying about the season.
My 9 year old presented me with her Mother’s Day poem:
“Mummy, you’re sweet as honey, your banana cake is oh so yummy, you are always very funny, your hair is golden sunny, I love how you have such a jiggly bum...” Little off piste at the end, there 😳
Just interviewed Jose Mourinho in the tunnel at Turf Moor. He has gone very strong on Tanguy Ndombele. Basically blames the first half performance on him.

Amazing now to see pundits, who for years have slated referees, now praising refs and saying they’re mostly right and don’t need VAR. It’s all the whinging we’ve done about their decisions in the last 20 years that have got us to this point!
The Emma Hayes appreciation club is having a twitter hangout tonight and I’m handing out the drinks. She’s just SO good. Makes it all sound simple but explains everything brilliantly and doesn’t talk in cliches.
The RSPCA refutes David Moyes’ claim that they will offer Zouma welfare advice on his cats. The charity also says it has not yet been offered any money by West Ham, who say Zouma’s 2 weeks wages fine is being donated to animal welfare charities.

England finish this World Cup lower than they finished the last. Despite the obvious impact its had on the women’s game in this country, we need to talk about Neville’s tactics, in particular how the team can’t seem to defend. Fair play to Sweden but they’re no great shakes.
Tonight on the tube I learned from the (loud) convo of 4 drunk guys on their way to the darts how their mate had run up £1800 on sex chat lines and his wife had left him, only to take him back when he joined Tinder. It’s times like this I’m thankful for a dull life.
Formula 1 is complex and uses a lot of jargon - the task for journalists like me is to try and unpack it for those who don’t watch the sport avidly. Ros has done (another) good job, here.

Re Abramovich: I understand the club is NOT for sale and he remains owner. This was a decision he took to protect club, staff and fans from pariah status CFC could get through the Russian connection. Senior management unchanged, board of trustees won’t be involved with transfers.

To think there were some (poor man’s Voldemort) who dared to question Raducanu’s mental strength. Look at the way she is serving. Look at the way she is resisting all pressure at 18, in a grand slam final. Bloody hell. She’s a bonafide star.

Itv sport are doing a fantastic job tonight of telling the main story of the game - the six goals are a side show. Ian Wright, in particular, has been brilliant.
