181 crosswalks are being canceled in the Portland area because drivers can't stop running over the pedestrians who attempt to use them. This is actually a pretty brilliant move by @OregonDOT cuz you can't get run over in a marked crosswalk if none exist.

If I had been any slower on the brakes the driver running a light that had been red for the last 30 seconds on NE 82nd Ave/Hwy 213 would have probably seriously fucked me up. If you listen close you can hear the driver graze my front tire, and some obligatory swear words.

I always wear a bicycle helmet when voluntarily engaging in elevated-risk activities like mountain biking and road racing. I doubt you will find very many who don't. The very idea of being forced to wear one just to ride to the neighborhood market is offensive and insane.
