Great work by the men and women of @VENTURASHERIFF . With the aid of a passing water truck driver, deputies coordinated the use of the truck’s water supply to douse flames along the 101 near the coast. They prevented spread of the fire and protected passing motorists. #ThomasFire

@CHPHayward Officer Andrew Camilleri, age 33, was seatbelted in the right front seat of his vehicle & parked on the shoulder of I-880 just before midnight when an intoxicated driver, age 22, collided into the CHP vehicle. Officer Camilleri leaves a wife & 3 children, 2, 6 and 12.

2:00PM: FREEWAY FLOODING is occurring on US 101 due to heavy rain. Standing water may accumulate in the center divider and fast ( #1 ) lane, and the far right lane. Reduce speed and increase following distance. Try to drive in one of the center lanes on multi-lane roadways.

This morning our thoughts are with all those close to @ChpSolano Motorcycle Officer Kirk Griess, age 46, who was struck and killed last Friday by a driver using their cell phone. Officer Griess will be laid to rest rest today. He was married, has 3 children and was a Marine.

For those of us who prefer seeing it on a map...US 101, northbound is CLOSED at State Route 150 (Capinteria). There is an alternate from Ventura County using I-5 north. Double-check directions before heading out with a full tank of gas, drinking water and snacks.
