Sometimes you can’t see diversity in just a photo.
It’s officially my one full year with Tukwila PD today and I’m off probation! Today we did a security assessment for one of the local grocery stores and it poured rain the entire time we were outside. My Sergeant bought me tacos for my 1 year. Yay 🌮🚔🎉
Please don’t be a PIO if you:
Don’t want to talk to media.
Don’t want to put effort in finding/giving information.
Don’t respond to scenes of big incidents.
It’s crucial to be transparent w/ the public & the media to establish trust & bridge the gap between community & police

To clarify I'm a civllian working w/ officers in our Community Police Team. Not a uniformed officer. My job provides crime prevention resources & education to the community. I also create interactions w/ our officers outside of 911 situations. Thank you for everyone's kind words!

** Announcement **
My official last day at KIRO will be March 1st. I'm leaving for a communications specialist position w/
@PortofSeattle
. After almost 5 years at the station it will be bittersweet. I've enjoyed breaking some of the biggest stories in the Puget Sound area.

Yesterday a
@MarysvilleWAPD
officer stopped to fix resident Ben Rieman’s flag. It was somehow touching the ground. Ben wasn’t home but is extremely thankful for the officer’s respectful gesture 👮🏻♂️🇺🇸❤️

@WestPierce
has been hard at work to keep the flames extinguished at the Ketron Island plane crash site. Their crews worked more than 18hrs. Two of the fire fighters pictured below were on shift more than 24hrs without sleep. Thank you for all you do!
After racking up over 215,000 on my Mazda 6, I finally bought a new car today! I remember driving from Fox Island to Seattle when I was just part time at KIRO as a News Assistant. I worked so hard to get here and I did it! 🎉😍🚙
I’m so proud to hear that my man was given an award for his hard work as an MP Captain in the
@WANationalGuard
assisting
@SeattlePD
in protecting the East Precinct in June. He deserves it ❤️👏🏼🎉
8 years ago today I moved to Washington not knowing anybody and having 0 family here. It’s wild to reflect on how many friends I’ve made since and how far I’ve come personally and professionally. It feels nice 🥰
Life news: Today is my last day at
@flySEA
! I learned so much about air travel & airport operations. I truly felt valued as an employee here. On top of that I made life long friends. What’s next? You’re looking at the new Community Engagement Coordinator for
@TukwilaPD
🎉
This is awesome.
Also, a quick reminder to make your door sturdier from being kicked in, replace the 1/2 inch screws with 3 1/2 inch screws! When the door is harder to get through, that gives you precious time to call 911.

Around 2 a.m., the Auburn Police Department was dispatched to the 31000 block of 117 PL SE for a report of a non-injury shooting.
We just got surveillance video from Mighty-O Donut shop on 2nd Ave and Madison in

. Video shows when the car strikes the building. Luckily there were only minor injuries!

Vicious attack today, intense search tonight. Man follows woman, steals purse, necklace and pries off two gold rings.

searches for this man.
Anytime I post a selfie on here I think of when I worked at KIRO and a woman called into the station to talk to my boss because I “posted too many selfies” on my own Twitter account 😂😝✌🏼
"I saw an open road. I was definitely going above the speed limit."

So heart broken to hear one of my favorite K9 officers Zev w/
@RentonpdWA
passed away. He was a good boy who protected his city & loved his partner Officer Adam very much. My first K9 ride along was with Zev and he instantly gave me a kiss. He was a gentleman.

A woman shot her ex-boyfriend as he was breaking into her apartment in Issaquah. The
@IssaquahPolice
chief tells me the woman fired one shot then called 911 to report it. The man died at the scene. STORY:
@komonews
This morning I found out my grandma passed away. She suffered from Alzheimer’s & couldn’t remember me or much of my family for 10+ years. I’m glad she isn’t suffering anymore and I’m grateful for everything she taught me. I love you grandma & I miss you always 😔❤️
WOW!!! What an ending to a chase! Suspect slows down then bails on foot. After attempts to carjack a victim at 23rd and Rainier in

@wastatepatrol
and
@BvuePD
did an amazing job. Glad this person is in custody!
Merry Christmas! Hoping everyone enjoys their day no matter where you are. Special shout out to my fellow journalists working on this holiday AND to our dispatchers, police & fire fighters 🎄🎅🏼🥰
Something awesome happened this morning. I slept in on a Saturday! It’s the FIRST EVER non PTO Saturday I’ve had off in my working life 😍 now we are at Daniels Broiler for brunch!
Traveled to Bothell this afternoon to drop off flowers and an American flag at Officer Shoop’s memorial. What a beautiful outpour from the community for
@BothellPolice
during this tough time. We stand with you 💙🖤💙
On Sunday April 7th, Kitsap Sheriff's Deputy Josh Buonvino was off duty when he spotted an Amber Alert for a missing child.
This body camera video below shows how the off-duty Deputy Buonvino took the initiative to search for the suspect, safely recovering the child.
"Where is the city council representative who represents this district?"
I found her.

Today is my 3 year anniversary with KIRO! I applied to two different jobs and got turned down. I sent multiple thank you cards then took a leap of faith and moved to WA from CA anyway. Got an interview a week later then was hired as a News Assistant. NOW LOOK AT MEEE🤗
My heart goes out to
@BothellPolice
. I have met so many great officers there and the department is close to my heart.
I don’t care what the political climate is right now but everyone should value the lives of others. Despite their race, religion, occupation and more.
Two officers are down after pursuit in Bothell. At least one patient has been transported to area hospital, conditions are unknown. Additional updates to follow.
Awesome story from
@KingCoSheriff
: Deputy Yaroslav Sandu was called to Denny's in
#Burien
for a homeless man who wouldn't purchase food/leave bc it was cold/raining outside. Yaroslav Sandu bought him dinner so he could eat & stay warm. Officers like him are making a difference.
It’s stormy out there! I hope everyone does the following:
🚨Treat dark intersections as a 4 way stops.
🚨Don’t touch downed power lines.
🚨Don’t call 911 to report power outages.
🚨 Call your power company for downed lines & outages.
Don’t call me to ask when the sun sets 😝
COVID Update: I’m feeling less congested today but still stuffy. Fatigue is improving. I find sleeping in and naps to help a lot. I’ve lost my sense of smell but I haven’t been able to breathe through my nose in a while so not sure how new of a symptom it is

I accepted my first Emmy in true work from home fashion. I’m so blessed to have worked on this story with my amazing counterparts at

& my breaking news twin

just a month before we turned in our news badges. Don’t under estimate an assignment editor 🏆
I get asked a lot if I'm interested in becoming a police officer/fire fighter. The respectful answer is no. I could not mentally do what our first responders do & deal w/ on a daily basis. The amount of patience & mental strength they have is amazing. Thank you for all you do!
Emergencies are scary enough. Let’s not add to the fear by spreading misinformation.

The
@SheriffCowlitz
deputy shot and killed yesterday evening has been ID'd as 29 year old Deputy Justin DeRosier. He grew up in Kelso and has been a Cowlitz County Deputy since 2016. He leaves behind a wife and 5 month daughter. Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice.

Today we celebrated our beloved Apollo as he retires and enjoys the rest of his life taking naps and eating cheeseburgers. He spent 6 years sniffing out drugs and deserves all the pets! 💙🖤🚨
Merry Christmas to all!
A special thank you & Merry Christmas to the paramedics, officers/deputies, fire fighters, dispatchers, military and everyone in the medical field who is sacrificing their holiday to keep others safe and healthy.

but I couldn’t resist capturing the tail end of this moment. Naturally I was stopped in Seattle traffic and see this

employee run so fast. It was to help this person in a wheel chair! They were having a hard time crossing the street when the light went green! 🥰
