@JoshuaSteinman @GraduatedBen Something is wrong with food in America. I see many potential explanations: chemicals used in farming (pesticides, fertilizers, etc); plant genetics; food additives; diet composition; cryptic infectious diseases; etc. Likely more than 1 matters. My current bet is on…

@hubermanlab @hubermanlab I’d love to share the work I did with Navy SEALs/pilots - we discovered that flying causes inflammation, which prevents resetting your circadian rhythm. By turning that off, we can reset your clock so you sleep well night 1. The inflammation piece is overlooked.

To all the people who said designer babies were 20 (or 30 or 50) years off, we told you the tech was coming/ready, that it was a cultural choice, and that some would say ‘yes’ very quickly. No surprise where this is happening.

For many founders, the stress of the last year is catching up. We see lower energy, focus, and drive. A lot of weight gain, gut issues. Burnout. Building long-term requires you to take care of yourself too. Sleep, nutrition, stress modulation, exercise, recovery tools matter.

@BiggestComeback For some people, higher carb diets drive inflammation. High blood sugar levels drive inflammation by damaging blood vessels and inducing pro-inflammatory compounds from the liver. When inflammation is high, it ‘distracts’ the immune system, so people are more likely to get sick

Don’t recommend, but if you have to grind: 1. Split dose high quality omega-3 (3x/day) and polyphenols. The 1st key effect of sleep deprivation is inflammation. Combat it. 2. 2nd key effect is stress hormone elevation. Mitigate with cardio, no sugar, L-Theanine, cocoa flavanols

@JoshuaSteinman @jespow Excipients include ingredients that help powders flow better, disperse more easily, stick tablets together, etc. These range from innocuous to disaster. Using only the cleanest ingredients possible definitely increases our costs, but worth it.

For propel who get this effect, usually it’s the coffee ramping up your sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight system). This decreases the function of the lining of your gut and can lead to GI inflammation. 3 experiments to run for you: 1. L-Theanine 200 mg with the

Why do you procrastinate? Overreact? Criticize yourself so harshly? I want to share one of the most powerful psychology tools I’ve ever come across. It's been huge for me personally. The “Downward Arrow” is an amazing tool to understand what’s holding you back & break through.

@HarryStebbings Have won more than 1 bet on this. The minerals and other compounds in the water give it a distinct taste. Evian has a notable flat taste. East Coast Nestle brands like Deer Park have a notable sweetness. Mountain Valley has an earthiness. Bet you I can tell the difference.

People, careful with your coconut milk. If you aren’t already checking, almost all have added junk like GUAR GUM unless they expressly say that they don’t. Even the organic ones. Need something like this. “Simple” is their moniker for no junk added, only coconut and water.

More and more people are recognizing the potential risks from fragrances. Time to clean up your products. Tip: At least in the US, “Unscented” products can still contain fragrances. You’re looking for “Fragrance Free”

fragrances are one of the most underrated causes of health issues. this study found that on average they have over 14 chemicals that aren't even labeled... chemicals that disrupt hormones, lower dopmaine, sensitize you to allergens, disrupt fertility. stop spraying this sh*t

The more I read the more I become convinced that the importance of the fact that Americans are more sedentary pales in comparison to how awful our food is. It’s genuinely terrible, and (mostly) because of that we eat ridiculous amounts of it.

@PeterAttiaMD @PeterAttiaMD the 20-30g limit for protein use in muscles is an artifact of study design looking at resistance training in a single muscle group. Even with fast absorbed (whey) protein, 40g increases muscle protein synthesis by 20% above 20g in whole body training.

There’s something rotten in the American psyche that has normalized us to poison kids. At a recent retreat we attended hosted by Stanford University (which was absolutely amazing otherwise), infants were served juice and sugar-laden processed food like Fig Newtons or Graham

Always have clean protein available. Tastes good and matches with any veggies or sides. Eating well gives you more willpower and self control.

Some people believe that a sauna and cold plunge protocol helps reduce weight, but there is actually no data directly linking this method to weight loss. However, saunas and ice baths do boast other benefits for mental and physical health.

First, what’s the cause? Table salt has added iodine. Fancier salts don’t. So, should you switch back to the industrial stuff? No, instead eat more: 1. Sea vegetables. Kelp (especially Kombu) & seaweed have tons of iodine! 2. Seafood 3. Dairy 4. Beef liver
