A worker-led movement to put power back in the hands of Amazon employees and establish our right to negotiate for a better, safer, and more equitable workplace.
If you ever doubt your power as a lone worker, remember that Amazon spent $1 million in union busting costs per every worker-organizer on our campaign.
The power to connect with the people you work with and care about is the power to change the world.
Solidarity forever❤️

The quote “Amazon won’t let us leave” should be in every headline.
The work we do is not worth dying for, not even close. It’s time for us to look at Amazon for what it is: the modern Triangle Shirtwaist factory.
Horrifying details are emerging about the tornado disaster at Amazon's warehouse in Illinois, where at least 6 workers were killed on the job.
Before he died, Larry Virden reportedly texted his girlfriend: "Amazon won’t let us leave." He leaves behind four children.
Current Vote Totals:
1518 Yes
1154 No
364 votes in ALU’s favor to wrap up today’s count. Counting will resume at 10am tomorrow.

Hi everyone. This is Juan Cruz, a union buster. He tries to hide his name and lie about who he is to workers at Amazon. He is very mad about this picture too, please help us spread it around because once a union buster is exposed, they can’t do their job. Thank you 😊

HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT 📣 The ALU is officially a certified UNION! This is a HUGE moment for the labor moment! Solidarity everyone! Let’s continue to fight for what we deserve!
When We Fight We Win 🏆 ✊🏾
Last night, managers at JFK8 tried to force employees back to work in the aftermath of a fire. The building was flooded and filled with smoke. Hundreds of workers felt unsafe & demanded to be sent home. We initiated a health and safety work stoppage when they wouldn't comply.
#Amazon
has terminated Pasquale "Pat" Cioffi, a lead organizer with the ALU. Pat is a process assistant who was instrumental in the JFK8 victory, and is one of our most influential and outspoken supporters.
He was fired for arguing with a manager about mistreatment of workers.
Press Release: In response to our decisive victory, ALU Pres. Chris Smalls (
@Shut_downAmazon
) demands immediate bargaining & Amazon cease/desist any changes to work policies.
JFK8 workers denounce any attempt by
@Amazon
to delay our hard won right to bargain collectively.
#ALU
Amazon has suspended over 50 workers who were involved in last night's walkout. It was not a "handful." It was nearly everybody involved in the action. This is clear retaliation against workers who refused to work in safe conditions.
#alu
Amazon workers all across the world are ready to unionize. Every other week we’re getting requests from other facilities to join the ALU. We’re not sitting around waiting for change anymore we’re demanding it. The time is now!
Together, we have shown that you can organize your workplace regardless of what mega-corporations throw your way. This has been a completely independent worker-led movement of, by & for the people!
UNIONIZE! Let’s put the power back into the worker’s hands.
Vote count has started‼️History has already been made as the Amazon Labor Union is the 1st union to hold elections for multiple warehouses. Workers at LDJ5 have the chance to become the 1st unionized Amazon sort center in US history. Updates will follow. All power to the people!
Our grassroots union is raising funds as we gear up for TWO union elections at our Staten Island warehouses. Please consider supporting our gofundme so we can win this thing!

It's official! Amazon workers at ALB1 in Schodach, New York have filed for a union election, seeking to be represented by the ALU!!
See press release below for more details!

Our buildings are missing fire extinguishers. Our workers are directed to evacuate through slow moving turnstiles instead of emergency exits. We’re forced to return to work amidst inhaling toxic fumes, mere minutes after the fires are extinguished.
We’ve received word from ALB1 workers that the Schodack warehouse is currently on fire. We are urging all of our brothers and sisters to be safe and we will report updates as we receive them.
Call-to-action: There will be a 4-day conference (June 13th-June 14th, June 16th-17th) national call where workers all over the nation can join forces with the Amazon Labor Union and get organized. Stay tuned for the international call announcement!

Today, Amazon workers in Staten Island WALKED OUT in protest of the unfair labor practices committed by the company and to demand better working conditions. This is on the very day we refile our petition for election ✊
Our site leader was notified with the following letter:
Please consider supporting our labor movement as we look forward to our next election for Amazon workers at LDJ5, a neighboring facility to JFK8 on Staten Island, which will take place April 25-29th.

We are beyond thrilled to announce that Amazon workers on Staten Island made their voices heard by choosing to be represented by the Amazon Labor Union.
Thank you for all the continued support + solidarity throughout our campaign for a union. We have another election coming next month & appreciate all the help we can get before our next vote‼️ LDJ5 Amazon workers on Staten Island will vote on April 25-29th
BREAKING—NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD GENERAL COUNSEL RULES AMAZON ILLEGALLY FIRED WORKER-ORGANIZER FOR UNION ACTIVITY. ABSENT SETTLEMENT, NLRB REGIONAL DIRECTOR WILL ISSUE COMPLAINT/JUDGE TO HOLD HEARING.
@amazonlabor
@NLRB
@NLRBGC
Watch ALB1 organizer Heather Goodall tactfully handle a police encounter after Amazon called them to stop her from signing union cards.
Calling the cops as a way to intimidate workers not to exercise their rights is illegal, and it’s a legal fight we’ve won many times before.
EXCLUSIVE: A remarkable thing happened when Amazon called the cops on several worker-organizers in Albany.
After the lead organizer explained why they were unionizing, the two police officers decided not to kick them out.
Instead, they offered to help coordinate future tabling.
‼️ BREAKING NEWS ‼️
The NLRB Hearing Officer is recommending that Amazon's objections to our JFK8 election be overruled in their entirety. We are finally going to be certified!
Thank you to all who donated to our legal fund! The fight is just beginning!

Press release:
From Amazon warehouses to Starbucks locations across the country, there is a common thread: a working class sick of being exploited while corporations rake in record profits.
I look forward to joining Amazon workers in New York and Starbucks workers in Virginia this Sunday.
BREAKING: ONE MONTH after being SUSPENDED (with pay) for taking collective action in PROTEST of ABORMALLY DANGEROUS CONDITIONS, the lead ALU organizers have officially been REINSTATED w/ no disciplinary action‼️
This is the power of collective action. WHEN WE FIGHT, WE WIN!
Success story: An
@amazon
worker/ ALU supporter at JFK8 was reinstated after being wrongfully terminated. Last week two of our executive board members marched into the main office and demanded amazon give him his job back. Next week he’ll be back to work💪🏾

During our election, Amazon argued we don’t need a union because the company has an “open door policy” that associates can use to address concerns. Hundreds of workers used it at once, and we were all threatened and suspended.
The count has finished. The election has concluded without the union being recognized at LDJ5—sortation center on Staten Island. The organizing will continue at this facility and beyond. The fight has just begun.

Breaking news ‼️ the election for

One of our first demands of Amazon last year was to recognize Juneteenth as a holiday and pay workers holiday pay.
They refused, but we haven’t let the issue go. This year we are once again demanding that Amazon show respect for its black workers and recognize Juneteenth.

: Due to the Labor Notes Conference in June (17th-19th), the Amazon Labor Union will have the national conference call in July (TBD). The call is for any Amazon worker nationwide that wants to organize their workplace. The international call will be set for August (TBD).
Amazon is now retaliating against ALB1 lead organizer Heather Goodall for taking pictures of safety violations in the warehouse, giving her a final warning. This is both a violation of the NLRA and OSHA on Amazon’s part. ⬇️
🚨Amazon is putting workers’ safety in grave danger once again🚨
-The same day the NLRB found a showing of interest to hold a union election at ALB1, Amazon retaliated by disciplining
@amazonlabor
leader Heather Goodall for taking photos of unsafe working conditions
🧵1/9
No matter the outcome of the election, workers are uniting for change at LDJ5, JFK8 & around the world.
Mega-corporations continue to spend millions in union-busting + fear tactics & we continue to organize for a society not based on exploitation & greed.
#UnionStrong
What they did to Pat is unjustifiable. It's clearly motivated by anti-union animus and they're only going forward because they believe it's more cost-effective to fire him and deal with the backlash than it is to allow to him to continue organizing during our contract campaign.
Amazon's response to our genuine concerns has been despicable and full of lies. At this time, management is circulating that as many as 80 workers who were involved in the work stoppage were suspended. That is not, as their PR team claims, a "handful."
Monday night there was a fire at Amazon JFK8 where workers were forced to go through turnstiles and “badge out” instead of using the fire exits that were only 100ft away.
They must reinstate the 50 workers they suspended who refused to work in these conditions.
@amazonlabor
We have filed charges with the NLRB and are requesting immediate 10-J injunctive relief from the Board. The situation at JFK8 has gotten out of control.
CLARIFICATION:
Tomorrow, 4/24:
Morning: Bernie Sanders and AOC will be visiting LDJ5 to speak with Amazon workers between 11am-12pm.

Before joining the union effort, Pat was treated like royalty by management and was beloved by associates because he would always look out for them.

One year ago today we made history as the first union for Amazon workers in America. The bosses have spent the past year challenging our victory, but they’ve lost again and again. Now it’s time for them to come to the bargaining table.
When we fight together, we win 💪
HUGE STEP FORWARD: The board is looking to outlaw captive audience meetings as they are inherently coercive.
During our campaign, we filed charges against Amazon while making this exact argument. Changing existing precedent would be a huge victory for workers in the U.S.!
#ALU
The labor board's top prosecutor Jennifer Abruzzo just issued a memo arguing that mandatory anti-union ("captive audience") meetings "inherently involve an unlawful threat" and saying she will urge NLRB members to change precedent & "find mandatory meetings of this sort unlawful"
Six months ago, we decided to pick a fight with Amazon. They thought we’d give up, but they were dead wrong.
Today, our union is hundreds of workers strong, organized by working class people ready to fight back against abuse.
Let’s go!

Corporations like Amazon are built by design to put profits before people…

Very excited that New York will now be
the fifth state to ban captive audience meetings. Although we were strong enough to overcome them during our JFK8 campaign in 2021-22 this is still a huge win for organizers nonetheless and these meetings should be banned in EVERY state
BREAKING: New York Gov. Kathy Hochul just signed a law banning captive audience meetings, a huge win for union organizers.
These meetings are used by employers to force workers to listen to lies from expensive union-busters.
Now, workers can’t be penalized for skipping them.
