Love this messaging from Greens. Once, specific project consents are annouced, Greens & Te Pāti Māori could feasibly stop some of the big projects before they start if they annouce they will - if elected in 2026 - withdraw consented projects without compensation.

Just last week, Fa’anānā Efeso Collins said he wanted to inspire "the square pegs, the misfits, the forgotten, the unloved, the invisible-it's the dreamers who want more, expect more, are impatient for change, and have this uncanny ability to stretch us further." He did that.

I have no words for the Coalition Government's decision to send @NZDefenceForce personnel to the Red Sea. This is a betrayal of NZ's history, and our claim to independent, values-based foreign policy. It sadly makes me feel ashamed to be a New Zealander.

It is so sad that we've got to the point where NZ MPs can proudly hold up the flag of a country that is killing 10,000 children and blows up hospitals, schools and aid trucks. On the rise is a dangerous detachment from reality - alongside a detachment from our humanity.

Unbelievable that @NZNationalParty wants to slash @docgovtnz 's budget by 6.5% ($46m) DOC is already underfunded (budget equivalent to Chc Council) and unable to manage the National Parks that make up one third of NZ. Defunding DOC would be catastrophic for nature and for tourism.

#Breaking : A broad coalition of social & environmental organisations, representing over half a million people, have just released their election scorecards. @NZGreens & @Maori_Party get top marks - while @NZNationalParty & @actparty get F's.

On a world stage, @chrisluxonmp just committed to putting NZ to a 1.5 °C pathway & a focus on a green economy. Meanwhile, his government is rolling out the red carpet for coal, oil & gas. Our Prime Minister is either incoherent, or lying. Neither are good.

Absolutely furious with the Entrust election. Five of eight friends I checked in with to vote @moreforyouAKL haven't received a ballot, can't get another posted due to the short time period, and Entrust won't allow them to be emailed. This is how the system protects itself.

National and ACT are raising at least $10 in large donations for every $1 for Labour and the Greens. Why do parties fundraise? To win elections. Unless we want $ to rule politics, we must do more to reduce the importance of political donations in Aotearoa.

13,200 cases of asthma in children every year are exclusively caused by car pollution. I'll say that again: Thirteen-thousand two hundred tamariki suffer unnecessarily from asthma, because of New Zealand's addiction to fossil-fuelled vehicles. We have to change. We just have to.

A single-speed camera has made $4.5m/year - and @AklCouncil tells us they have to sell the airport to raise funds?? How about we significantly increase the implementation & cost of parking fines - not only making millions for the council, but making our streets safer too.

We're losing big on climate - but many of us have held back on critiquing the @nzlabour govt in an equally big way, in the fear it will fuel hopelessness & help get @NZNationalParty elected. We need a different strategy. A thought🧵from working in the climate space.

Tīhema Baker: 'There’s something about the white fragility of Pākehā in the public service that is particularly difficult to overcome. To call a Pākehā public servant out on their racism is, apparently, a greater offence than the act of racism itself.'

The richest 1% caused 16% of global emissions in 2019, and are directly responsible for over a million excess deaths from heat alone. A wealth tax is one of the best climate policies there is.

Mike Joy: 'It takes up to 11k litres of water to dilute the pollution caused by 1 litre of milk. To add insult to injury nearly all the milk with this huge water footprint is then dried with coal for export as powder for junk food & breastmilk replacement.'

There is no such thing as sustainable intensive winter grazing - not for the soil, not for our rivers, and definitely not for the cows.

It's unbelievable the BBC is censoring David Attenborough; the UK's most trusted voice on nature. If the media won't even air his episodes - then what chance do the rest of us have in getting the media to publicise this global environmental collapse??

Sitting in the @AklCouncil meeting atm, and Wayne Brown has to keep raising his voice to be heard, due to loud "STOP THE BUDGET CUTS" chanting from protestors outside. The voice of the people is clear. Now is a time to invest in our city - not to hurt it for years to come.

Two Labour councillors are on Brown’s list in favour of the sale; @RichardHills_ and @HendoWest . Labour & city vision have opposed selling assets. We know you're in a hard position, but we HAVE THE VOTES: this is winnable. Don't sell the airport shares.

Reading through the fast-track act, I'm seeing supportive submissions from liquor companies, who want to use the bill to ram through liquor stores in places where the community strongly opposes them. This bill is an incredible assault on democracy, in so many ways.

A briefing paper sent to government ministers by a group of companies says disruptions to the seafloor caused by mining would rule out establishing offshore turbines, and shut out New Zealand from a potential $50 billion industry creating thousands of jobs.

#Breaking : The National-chaired Environment Select Committee has decided to deny oral submission rights to 60% of individual, unique submitters who asked to speak. I'll say that again, most people will be denied their right to have a say on this anti-democratic bill.
