I’m upset about Blue Sky. Without the merger, they would have continued their sustainable and franchise-secure operation. They had good-paying jobs in a nice part of the country to live in, with good work/life balance. A pointless waste that makes the American industry worse off.

(1/5) Some of my art for a feature I developed at Taiko called 'Fable'. A grandfather tells his grandchildren a fantasy story about the animals of the zodiac bringing unity to their kingdom, to help them cope with the loss of their mother (his daughter.)

We finished #OneSmallStep over two and a half years ago! This was one of the first scenes I storyboarded and also animated in CG. I made the fake shadows on the floor and highlights in her eyes with polygon primitives and ramp shaders. The compositors did an incredible job!

Animate digitally, but flip your drawings between keys as you would on paper or in 3D. Onion skin is for subtle tie-down detail. Working on paper is a vital knowledge base to have, but would have been an incredible waste of time, money and resources on a production like #Klaus

This is my favorite look for anything animated by a major studio. It WAS very labor-intensive, as some have observed. It combined large parts of a 3D pipeline and 2D pipeline, and so was likely more expensive combined than either individually. Regardless... MORE please! 😍

One of my favorite tasks on @bravelocomotive was creating the 1895 newspapers and photographs. I wrote a mix of real and fictional history. The biggest fiction is Samson, as 4-8-4 steam locomotives of his scale were not around for another 3 decades (he is "the future" after all.)

I agree with this thread. Sometimes I wonder if asking American animation to chill out is like asking a casino to be a Buddhist temple. Movies are such a product of the cultures and systems they are created in. Save us, streaming! #NetflixandChill

1-Question to animation industry. We all praise films like Totoro as a master piece, and yet, western animation industry has this religious rule, “every scene must move the protagonists journey forward“ but is it true? Am I the only one who wants more diversity in storytelling?

#Klaus character designer Torsten Schrank was an absolute superhero on this film. This hand-drawn project truly had a unifying hand on the cast. Torsten would also do impeccable draw-overs in our key animation. Check out his work!

Have a hard time sleeping when I'm sick, so I re-designed a character from an old personal project: Baron von Kapital, railroad tycoon. Wanted to play with faster shapes while drawing more directly from the original inspirations: Cornelius Vanderbilt and FDR #oc #characterdesign

Thanks for sharing! It was an absolute delight working with @TitmouseInc . The final results have so much more value than the given budget. The environments were lovingly designed/supervised by @kevinyangart and I got to design the 2D characters seen here. #MyDadtheBountyHunter

Animated almost a minute of hand-drawn scene footage for #Klaus in twelve weeks. Finally getting to know this villainous character I’ve been on, and will miss her when we wrap in a few months. Animation is around 70% complete
