An adaptation is supposed to celebrate the source material and build on its accomplishments, while changing certain elements to fit the modern landscape. MCU Moon Knight does none of that. It sacrifices much needed depth and representation for the sake of popcorn entertainment.

In doing some research, I found that viewers with DID found the Marc/Steven relationship quite compelling, the inclusion of Jake as a psychopathic killer plays into offensive stereotypes about the “evil alter”. The MCU neglects the harm this causes for entertainment purposes.

Like many other Jewish Marvel characters, the Jewish aspect of Marc’s character is almost completely disregarded. The primary reason for Moon Knight’s very existence is treated as an afterthought. The Jewish iconography is kept to a minimum and his faith is never actually spoken.
