Does it really need saying that if *you* wish anyone dead - however much you dislike their politics - it makes *you* the bad person? Donald Trump isn’t my country’s leader, so not my vote at stake, but those wishing him harm are *probably* making it more likely he’s re-elected.

He is right. There is no reason beyond spite why we couldn't have had a Canada-style deal. After all, we start from a position of identical regulations and standards . The EU has not at any point negotiated in good faith.
