I was a general assignment reporter today & got to cover a school event, a refreshing change. PS 132 in Washington Heights cut the ribbon on its new laundry room! School aides had been washing some kids clothes at home. So the school made it a mission to get a W/D

I worked at WNYC for 11 years. Seems like we were always dealing with some kind of change & turmoil. And the salaries of upper mgmt never suffered for it. You know what never changed, though? That the people who actually MAKE the content kept their heads down and worked.

Just a reminder that SBA president Ed Mullins pulls a 6-figure taxpayer-funded salary from the NYPD (his right as a union leader). Because of that, he is technically still a public employee bound by the rules of the dept. and oath of office.
Mayor DeBlasio, the members of the NYPD are declaring war on you! We do not respect you, DO NOT visit us in hospitals. You sold the NYPD to the vile creatures, the 1% who hate cops but vote for you. NYPD cops have been assassinated because of you. This isn’t over, Game on!

The mayor has said that "more and more" NYPD officers live in the city... but it turns out he actually means "fewer." @CWEBCRUZER reports that just under half of uniformed officers reside in NYC. In 2016, it was 58%.

NYC child welfare workers have power to remove children from their parents without the required court oversight in emergencies. But the city has used that power increasingly, sometimes in cases that don't seem like emergencies at all.

The need to diversify our content staff has always felt like an aspiration, rather than something broken that needed fixing urgently. That’s why I signed the letter too. Fwiw, leadership has actively engaged our criticism. I hope action is not far off.
