On the left, HTML and Tailwind a dev authored with the idea it would be easier to read.
VS.
On the right, I rewrote the markup using vanilla CSS classes.

I've been laid off.
So if anyone knows of any positions for a front-end dev who just happens to also love CSS and Accessibility, let me know.

So "karen" literally called the police on one of our HOA board members because the pool in our community isn't open.
She said "if people can protest and riot, I can go to the pool" & said C-19 is fake.
The police came an a report was filed against her instead for misusing 911

The articulation is beautiful. I wonder if it's self-driven or if the motion is being generated by someone in a motion capture rig?
Also, by the facial expression on this one, it has seen some things.
Just read a slack comment where someone questioned why things have to be accessible and then referred to an accessible UI as "compromised UI".
Don't be that 👆🏿 person.

Me and my beautiful bride. 12-13-14 was truly a magical day.
You have no idea how much of a blessing this woman has been for me and my family. It doesn't feel like 9 years. I'm looking forward to many more years with my love

That is a reasonable use case. Still doesn't address the readability issue for neurodivergent devs though.
But, component based is a better approach than the raw code that I've seen.
I'm very appreciative and humbled by all the positive feedback I've received in relation to my talk this evening.
Accessibility is an important topic and I want to thank you all for attending and leaning in.

Stop reinforcing this coding practice in your tutorials. Removing the outline from elements that receive focus without providing a suitable equivalent is bad for

I was explaining the curb cut effect to a guy who literally said "people with motor disabilities shouldn't be on the sidewalk".

This judge is clearly biased not to mention has zero clue as to what the word "Victim" means.
vic·tim
/ˈviktəm/
noun
a person harmed, injured, or killed as a result of a crime, accident, or other event or action.
On the way home, my little dude says
"Daddy when I was 3, I remember falling asleep on your chest while you made music.
I'm 4 now and I miss that. I want to fall asleep on your chest listening to your music daddy"

I like to name things what they are and BEM helps to provide structure. Naming classes according to the node they're associated with helps to remove the whole "naming is hard" part.

If unarmed mental health workers in facilities can disarm someone who may be having an episode that endangers themselves or other residents, the police should be able to do so as well.
@BlueHairdDodo
Reminds me of the time the head of HR for a place I worked said I shouldn't be offended by some calling me a racial slur because she, "being a white woman, has had to deal with far more oppression and discrimination."
I resigned.
If you're going to put SSNs in HTML, make sure the element has the class .hideSSN {display: none}; And if you really want to keep it from being decoded, and !important.

Had a guy walk up to me on the beltline today and say "you're the accessibility guy, aren't you?"
Cool dude. We spoke for a bit. He heard me speak at

last year.
Nice to know my work is having a positive impact on how people approach product development.

Ran a session today where I had the teams try and complete basic tasks using their keyboard only. The level of frustration that was felt was eye opening for many in the room and successful at showing why accessibility is important.

I worked with a director who used this logic. His time line was every 5 years. He literally told us not to prioritize a bug since it would only be an issue by the time he's gone.
We ignored him and fixed it anyway.
It's that time again to let people know that using overlays / widgets instead of actually fixing accessibility issues is a bad idea.

So many missed opportunities but I'm at least glad that many are being brought to light. For example, "How the Word Is Passed" by Clint Smith.
Had a disagreement with an engineer today who tried to argue that sidewalks without curb cuts are ADA compliant.
He literally said, if you need a wheelchair or other assistance, you shouldn't be on the sidewalk.
I was this close to saying "MF! What?!"
And I rarely curse.

Spot on. I'm Gen-X and have always looked for positions that offer that life balance. I've had jobs where management felt that if we worked from home, we weren't working. Yet, the fact my team never missed a deadline proved otherwise.
I'm often asked, who should be responsible for accessibility? Whether your product is dev-driven, design-driven, or leadership-driven, accessibility is (should be) everyone's concern.

The first black American architect to graduate from MIT and the country’s first academically trained black architect, Robert R. Taylor was truly groundbreaking. Born in North Carolina in 1868, he learned carpentry and construction from his father, a former slave, and worked as a
